A longtime make-up artist and stylist to Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks is alleging that Brooks brutally sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions in an extremely graphic lawsuit filed Thursday in Los Angeles.
I absolutely believe that in many cases it’s hard to leave an abuser. It is also difficult to give up needed employment. Additionally, it can take years to come forward with these types of allegations. But when all of those are combined with allowing it to continue for 2 years, not filing criminal charges at all, and asking for a large sum of money from a very rich person before filing a civil case, I am skeptical of the accuser’s motives. Why not press criminal charges first? It is just my opinion that this seems a little hinky, but it could be absolutely be true. I will be watching this case progress. Jmo

Although there are men who have one side for their wives and families and the public and then a dark side they only show victims, there are also people who would make up false detailed claims.

Is there any concrete evidence? Such as documented injuries, professional people she told back when it allegedly happened who would have made documentation, etc.?

ETA: I tend to believe alleged victims. Don't know enough about this case yet to have an opinion.

There's a link to the filing by his accuser in that Deadline article linked above, but they're right, it is pretty graphic! But really, mostly I thought it read like a really badly-written trash romance novel.

"Tragically, her worst fears came true when seconds later he was towering over her, his 6-foot and almost 300-pound frame ready to pounce on Ms. Roe, who is less than 5 feet and 100 pounds. As she began to panic, he grabbed her hands and pulled her into the next room and onto the bed where she could not escape his physical domination."

They're very busy it seems.

At one point in her filing, she even describes one unwanted (by her) sexual encounter, that to me, sounds physically impossible! He allegedly held her up suspended by her ankles, and forced himself on her... I don't know, the way it's described just seems impossible to me, you'd have to read it, I think.

I know I wondered the same thing. I couldnt imagine the positioning ( how else do you say it? I felt like one of those people holding a magazine sideways thinking how in the H. E double hockey sticks ???

The reality is we don’t know if any of the allegations have any basis whatsoever; we can only hope not. It’s heartbreaking when someone we admire is accused of such serious crimes. It’s equally disturbing to consider another woman was allegedly treated like a Kleenex. Used and discarded.

Amateur opinion and speculation

I’m disturbed on many levels by this news, not just for Garth, but Tricia’s sake as well. I tend not to believe this and would need to see the evidence before making a decision.

If he filed a private lawsuit prior to her suit, I think that speaks volumes, JMO.

I think the firm she hired to present him with the offer to settle out of court to spare reputations, spoke volumes also. I dont think they anticipated him biting back.

The whole thing stinks to high heaven, but we’ll see what evidence is presented.

Incidentally, he "bit back" by filing a lawsuit a month ago, as John Doe:

"Brooks filed a preemptive lawsuit in federal court in Mississippi last month, in which both him and the woman are anonymous.

In court filings in that case, the plaintiff, going by John Doe, says the allegations are “wholly untrue,” and he first learned of them in July when she threatened to publicly sue him unless he gave her millions of dollars.

He asked a judge to stop the woman from “intentional infliction of emotional distress, defamation, and false light invasion of privacy.”

“For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars,” Brooks’ statement said. “It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face.”

Brooks said he filed the case anonymously “for the sake of families on both sides.”"

The lawsuit appears not to have had the desired effect as Jane Doe's lawsuit was filed the following month and Brooks' name was not kept private.

That's right he filed first, but after they told him , if we dont settle were going public. Im not surprised they went ahead, they have to follow through on their demands especially when he had a lot more to lose than she did.
