As I said in my last post, there's one text message included in the filing that makes no sense to me, in that, the way I read it, it only serves to make the victim look bad, and not Brooks, which, I'm sure was not her intention. Which may just mean I'm reading it wrong, but you can see if you agree after reading it. The filing says:
108. Although Brooks thought he deleted everything on Ms. Roe’s phone, he did not, and some texts remain, including those in which he encouraged Ms. Roe to speak in a sexualized manner to him, such as this message referring to his “huge stick”:
So I have to assume the text in blue is what SHE said, and his reply is underneath, since it would make no sense for a woman to ever be called by this "nickname" of Roosevelt, referring to his "huge stick"! So it shows that she was, at least in this text, the one who was flirting or making sexual innuendo-laden remarks to HIM, willfully cooperating in such talk, possibly initiating such (depending on what was said in the redacted part, the redaction of which, btw, adds even more doubt in my mind - what could that have said and why redact that? Looks like it was something more that SHE said, not him).
I see no other way that can be interpreted. But if that's how it was, then why would they include this text?? And it seems that they thought this is the worst one they could find, otherwise they would have included others. While he doesn't appear as a saintly innocent here, it certainly isn't anything too outrageous, or that could have hurt her to the tune of millions of dollars and much more in bad publicity for him. Especially when imo, it shows her complicit in this sexual banter.
They do include some copy/pastes of other texts earlier in the filing, but these, imo, are more talking of things related to what looks like her setting the stage for this filing. They don't include any sexual innuendo or flirting etc. They're mostly of him gushing compliments and apologies for ever having made her feel uncomfortable, etc. As if he were perhaps suddenly aware that she might be thinking of using some of their earlier consensual sexual talk, and possibly more than just talk, against her in a future lawsuit, imo.
But it's this text about "Roosevelt" that confuses me and leaves me with even more doubt as to her claims. And in case there is anyone who doesn't get the reference because they don't know the quote by Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the US, their text is referring to this:
"Theodore Roosevelt once famously said, 'Speak softly and carry a
big stick; you will go far.'. This
quote encapsulates the essence of effective leadership and diplomacy."
