Wouldn't that be one for the books, what goes around comes around. Serve him right if it turned out she was a witness and she heard all. Payback time lol.

I know it sounds far fetched but everything in this case is getting ridiculous, from Carl also being charged with manslaughter, Botha being charged with murder, Oscar's father (or grandfather) shooting himself in the testicles, Oscar firing into a closed door at an imaginery intruder, Prosection missing a bullet in the toilet bowl (I mean the toilet closet is little more than a cupboard)

Nothing would surprise me in this farce, even Oscar getting his bail conditions reduced, going back to his home and going on the rampage with a gun and shooting anyone he suspects of being a witness and then doing a moonlight flit.

God knows what Reeva's family think of this carry on.

I have tried to be Open Minded, but from what little I know of the justice system in South Africa, I am beginning to think I am naive to say the least.

I believed that too. But Oscar Pistorius was, at that time, a true SA National Hero, 2nd only to Nelson Mandela, and he was an inspiration to the world. So the Magistrate was put in a difficult situation, imprison an Icon and be hated by the SA public and others, or let him out on bail and risk his name being tarnished for that if OP fled.

So I see why he did what he did. I think it was smart. OP can run at this moment if he choses, but it will be only hours before his Correctional and Parole Officers detect it and alarms are sounded all over the country, hopefully...

You have more faith than me in the professionalism of the powers that be. And Nelson Mandela is back in hospital, Hope he is OK.

OP has subtly announced he is going to make a run for it IMO. He continually tests limits. He should be made to wear one of those electronic braclets which tells them exactly where he is at all times. I am outraged over all this! What a lawless country South Africa really is!

I don't think he will flee. (Though it wouldn't surprise me if he did.)
There might still be justice here, though most voted in my informal poll, that he will get a light sentence.
And so far his attys' requests RE bail conditions have not been granted.

But I thought of something now, and this could be a world first --if media and Prosecution are derelict.

Given that family, is it not likely his uncle's mansion, where he now lives, has guns, and that he might have access to them?

Scary, n'est-ce pas?

I have typed this once and all of a sudden lost it, apologies if this is duplicated.

I do not understand why Oscar should think any restrictions against him are unjust. By his own admission he has killed someone, either accidentaly OR (more likely) premeditated. Does he really think it harsh under the circumstances to adhere to the agreed bail conditions, eg no alcohol, not returning to crime scene, and more importantly the confiscation of his passport?

If his request in met, well what a joke. I started to take interest in this case from an Agatha Christie or Sherlock Holmes type of perpective. But I have thought more about what South African justice means. I saw the man being dragged along in a police van......it was so ugly I couldn't watch it.

I agree he will do a runner unless society says......."yes, you were an Icon, but now you are under suspicion of Murder and we "society" have to be protected from you until you have been vindicated from the charge of pre-meditated murder.

Good luck to anyone living in South Africa.....I hope that the truth will prevail.

Very likely.........It is very scarey. Wouldn't like to be one of his neighbours in that guarded, security conscious, complex.........Go to the toilet and you could be dead by morning.

I just read up on the locksmith matter. I read that shortly after Botha arrived, Carl arrived with a lawyer and a locksmith, to attempt to get into a safe in the kitchen. They did not find the memory stick with the offshore account numbers they were looking for.

What strikes me about all of this is that Botha was letting any old Joe trample all over a crime scene! What kind of three-ring circus is going on here??? Zero integrity!

They SAID they did not find the memory stick, We do not know for sure.

I am simply shocked that the brother, the attorney and the locksmith were allowed in the home. The whole house should have been considered a crime scene and sealed off. The police did not know if the kitchen contained any evidence that was relevant to the case.

Wouldn't the police know that the brother and the attorney were not impartial?

What time of day was OP escorted out of he house and into police custody? Did the police allow him to move freely?

.

Why did he need a locksmith for his own safe?

I can only use my own experience to answer.

I lose keys and forget combinations. In a dire emergency like the day of Reeva's death, the key or combination may have been in the rooms that were sealed off and they had to think of alternative ways to gain access.

Regardless, not one item, not one shred of paper should have been allowed to be removed from that home.

BIB1 No, he doesn't think they are harsh; he probably does have the occasional beer or 7 or 8, and if not he does have a psychiatrist that can give him even better stuff. He just does not want the restrictions. I would say it is so he can flee (because he will) but by wanting to talk to neighbors, man that is just so over the top. I cannot believe he got his attorneys to put that in the pleading. It's crazy, IMO! LOL

BIB2 It is not the SA justice system that is on trial. But police brutality occurs in every country to one extent or another and it is not involved here with OP. My opinion, like many I have read in UK comments sections is that the SA Prisons are what prisons should look like, as opposed to college dorm prisons of some countries. Prisons in Mexico, South and Central America look exactly the same, maybe worse.

BIB3 I was curious about how the people of SA feel about this after having time to absorb the information, etc... I haven't stumbled across any polls, but in reading the comments posted after the SA News sites articles, the mood of the SA public is very strong against OP now by a wide margin. Which is good because it takes a lot of pressure off of the Authorities and the Judges and Magistrates that are involved with the investigations, bail issue, and the upcoming trial.

I think I may be the only one who does not see him as suicidal. He's an angry man with no "genuine" concern for laws or what other people think. He will fight it out or flee; or flee, get captured, and then fight it out. I just don't see him killing himself. Someone else, yes.

"the brother, the attorney and the locksmith..."

LOL, that's so funny in so many ways.

Why, in the middle of a homicide investigation, where your brother is the admitted shooter of his girlfriend that he loved to the point of marriage (so you know her and care for her too) do you gather up yourself, a lawyer, and a locksmith at 4:15 AM!? I'm still laughing! It is just so unbelievable.

There is no LOL about it. You and other posters obviously know more about this guy and I do. I only very vaguely remember him from the OLYMPICS didn't take much notice of him then so I am by no means a fan. I have always, if you go back to my earlier posts, thought he, if given the opportunity would flee, and by this I don't because he is guilty (up to the judge to decide that) but given he has the money etc. who would want to spend their life in jail. I think it is very arrogant of him to contest the bail conditons because he has admitted murder, and if the bail conditions are altered because he is an ICON well I think we should think
carefully who we regard as ICONS, Hilter was an ICON in the 1930s, so history should tell us to beware of who we adore.
The higher you are put on a pedestal the further you have to fall.

OK, I'm not LOLing anymore. Very good perspective. Thank you. My jaw dropped reading the two sentences, BTW.

Me too

I think the same........I hope we are wrong.

The man--OP--is a disgrace to the Blade Runner legacy.

Blade Runner Movie: "I've seen starships on fire off the shoulder of Orion...time to die...."

Blade Runner Pistorius: "I've heard intruders in my toilet... Time for her to die."
