"BERLIN — The suspect in an ax attack at a German train station that wounded nine people Thursday was a mentally disturbed asylum seeker from Kosovo, officials said Friday. They said there was no indication of any political or religious motive for the attack."

"The suspect was not part of the wave of more than 1 million migrants who have arrived in Germany over the past two years, officials said. He arrived in 2009 and was granted a residence permit on humanitarian grounds."

According to Albanian newspapers the perpetrator is Fatmir H.
A week ago he bought an axe, because he felt persecuted, according to his brother who also lives in Wuppertal.

Fatmir H. came to Germany in 2009, where he received a temporary residence permit as an asylum seeker on humanitarian grounds. He was to be deported.

Currently, he is protected against a 2014 decision, which according to our editorial staff is valid until 2018. The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf) had ordered that Fatmir H could not be deported, because a deterioration of his mental state was looming.
The Residence Act prohibits the deportation of someone if a serious illness would be significantly worsened by this. Another factor was that Fatmir H.'s brother also lives in Germany and stabilizes the situation. As early as 2015, Fatmir H. got into trouble with the police when he injured himself and revealed his illness to the officials.

In 2009, there was no reason whatsoever to accept anyone from Kosovo as an asylum seeker. In fact, Germany and other countries in the North of Europe had already started to deport Kosovarians.
As for the humanitarian grounds and the alleged looming deterioration of his mental health ~ the German system is overflowing with cases that they cannot really treat and waiting lists are long.

But let's pretend that wir schaffen das and then Fatmir's mental state deteriorated anyway.

Among the injured are four women and five men. Four of them suffered severe head cinjuries caused by the axe hits. The victims are between 13 and 50 years old, they come from Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Cologne, Solingen and Wülfrath. Two women are Italian tourists.

Police closed a shopping mall in Essen, western Germany, on Saturday after concrete indications a possible attack was being prepared against it.

According to police, Limbecker Platz mall _ a shopping complex comprising several floors and boasting some 170 stores in the center of the city _ would be completely closed due to concerns over security.

The city of Essen is on the north-east of Düsseldorf, about 30 minutes by car.
Essen is north of Wuppertal, also roughly at about 30 minutes by car.

So we have an interesting triangle. Düsseldorf, Essen and Wuppertal, where the axe-man lives.

Wuppertal was in the news recently:

German school in Wuppertal bans Muslim children from 'provocative' prayer

In a written internal note, a school in Wuppertal, western Germany, has asked teachers to prohibit Muslim pupils from publicly praying.

Provocative praying is one of the ways islamist groups aim to impose sharia. Apparently, such groups have become active in (and around) Wuppertal recently.

It makes one wonder about the backgrounds of the axe attack and the machete attack on the 80 year old pensioner.

More news about the shopping mall:

According to infromation received by BILD, the warnings stem from secret service circles. They warned for several suicide bombers who would supposedly attack the shopping center with bombs. Names of the possible terrorists are not known - and whether they actually exist, is unclear so far.

The police would be searching houses in Oberhausen, near Essen. Oberhausen has the BIGGEST shopping centra in Europe.
If these suicide attakers exist and nobody knows who they are, or where, what will stop them from blowing themselves up in any other shopping centre or railway station?

I hope LE finds the time to check Fatmir H's phone and computer.

It seems like the terrorists are preparing to launch attacks again it is very worrying.

Update shopping mall:

RT.com

German police have detained two men during an investigation into a terrorist attack threat at a shopping center in the western German city of Essen, a police statement says. The mall remained closed on Saturday.

The local police department received a tip-off about the potential attack from another security service the day before, the statement adds, without naming the source. Police immediately cordoned off the shopping center, which is located at Limbecker Platz in downtown Essen, and ordered it closed.

After the concrete indications of a planned attack on a large shopping center in Essen, the state law enforcement authorities are now confident that the terrorist ISIS is behind these plans.

According to information received by BILD, a German fighter of the Islamic state issued a terror order from Syria for the shopping center Limbecker Platz in Essen.

The man hails from Oberhausen and is allegedly a member of the salafist scene of the city. On orders of the ISIS leadership the well-known Islamist would have instructed several people in the Ruhr area via messenger chat about the attack that was to take place on Saturday afternoon. LE apparently gained this information through secret services.

Because of the urgency, a crisis meeting was held at the Joint Terror Protection Center in Berlin. The Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Criminal Police Office are also invoived and are constantly informed about the developments in the Ruhr area, as the threat is taken very seriously.

Raise your hand if you believe that all this is a coincidence and nothing but a coincidence.

I still wonder if LE has already checked Fatmir H's phone and computer, and what the results were. Just because someone is bipolar or whatever, does not mean that they could not have been recruited or incited via messenger chat.
