Hey ho, I was just made aware of the Rebecca Reusch case. And this is just way to close to home for me for my feels. I live in the second german Capital city. (yes we have 2 cause we were split once) And I digged deep. My opinion at this point is that Flo didn't kill her and that she went out to see someone early in the morning before 8:30 a.m. and that then something happened to her. So I came here to see if anyone found anything about this Maximilian guy she was talking to every day before she went missing.

Max=Florian

Max=Florian

However, another friend, with whom the two journalists also speak, had heard of "Max". Rebecca had even written with him next to her, she had even been allowed to read messages from the chat partner. However, it was nothing serious, and he did not live in Berlin. Rebecca had even considered meeting him, "Max" had come to Berlin especially for this, but she had decided against the meeting at short notice. The girlfriend also wants to have seen a photo of the teenager. According to this, "Max" was a teenager of the same age with brown hair.Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

Do you think Florian chatted with her using a fake profile (Max)?

After reading into this case, I am convinced, F. killed her. He came home early morning drunk, did not sleep. His wife left home at 7 am, so what would keep him from making a move on Rebecca after that? Maybe intoxicated (he is known to consume drugs), but certainly drunk (he admitted it). She opposed and he either accidentally or deliberately killed her. Wrapped her in a blanket and dumped her somewhere.

Another thing i find so odd is that Rebeccas family keeps protecting and covering F. And pushes their theory that Rebecca was abducted and is kept captive by the big unknown stranger... which imho is idiotic. They are convinced she is alive with zero evidence, while LE is convinced, she is dead. It is not normal. Normally, parents would suspect their son in law if their daughter disappeared after having been alone with him.
His wife, the sister, okay, i can see why she covers him up, they have a child and a home together and have been together more than 10 years.
But the parents? I think they know more than what they would admit and just protect their living daughter and husband.

I disagree, they aren't covering for him, they know him well enough to know he didn't do it.

That is an interesting article worldwatcher, thank you. Too bad they never reported to the police to have it on record.

It baffles me how he could have killed her if she did not leave that house alive, without leaving one piece of evidence behind in the house or the car.

Here are several translated excerpts from this extremely long article:

"R. had cheated and is said to have beaten her. There was also sexual violence in the relationship....
doubts about the innocence of the brother-in-law are also slowly emerging in Rebecca's family....

At first everything was fine in the relationship, but after a few months he became violent. When the couple was alone, her boyfriend at the time locked her in his room because he didn't want her to go shopping. He hit her and threw her on his bed. Angie told the journalists that he was always violent afterwards when the two had an argument. He kept trying to tie her up against her will...

Another woman who wants to remain anonymous also tells the journalists that she was beaten by R. The two were together as teenagers. When the relationship slowly dissolved, she was often beaten green and blue by R. Once he pushed her down the stairs. Years later, he admitted the outbursts of violence against her at a party in front of friends. Nobody believed her before because nobody could imagine that R. was capable of something like that.

support for the brother-in-law also seems to be slowly crumbling in the family. "We know from investigators that the relationship between the Reusch family and brother-in-law Florian is said to be disturbed," explains RTL reporter Samina Faizi. On the outside, the family holds together, but on the inside there are doubts about his innocence. Can he be trusted to do the deed after all, if he is said to have approached several women inappropriately?

The man's car was captured on the day of the disappearance and the following day on the motorway between Berlin and Poland. Witnesses had also seen the car and a man in the woods who was behaving suspiciously."

It seems, that all, is coming back to him!

Maybe, while looking back, they noticed red flags.., something that made them doubt..?
This must be very hurtful for her family..

I did (still do.. ) find it very odd, that it seemed like - such an urgent situation, taken the trouble.. pick up, the family car, that your wife took, to the child care and then to her work, picking it up,drive to Poland for a drugs deal?
And if he was intoxicated, like some of his colleagues told, it shows lack of responsibility, especially when you have a child. Imo
I have the Im Dunkeln – Der Fall Rebecca Reusch listed, to listen.

I had seen that podcast and didn't feel comfortable asking someone to take the time to listen or summarize, it would be amazing if you wouldn't mind giving your insight or anything we haven't heard? I searched high and low for a transcript to translate into English and couldn't find one.

I personally haven't wavered in my suspicion of FR, but I am absolutely irritated by the way the police handled the situation. I also feel like that taught me a lot about patience and LE's need for restraint. we always want to see them move in fast, but in the grand scheme of things, it's so so detrimental. I always think a strong abduction investigation (or SAR) should parallel a possible homicide case to keep the bases covered.
finding the truth is second to finding the person, hopefully alive.

Thank you @worldwatcher, glad to have been on these threads with you for.. almost 2 years now

FR told police that he was sleeping that morning, but was actually watching *advertiser censored* on his phone, and they said there were other contradictions in his interviews, including "implausible" scenarios for the car tracking to Poland.

also, his wedding ring had gone missing and LE are wondering if the second trip he took ~36 hours later was him going back to the crime scene to find his ring.

There was a case in the last couple of year, https://www.washingtonpost.com/loca...472376-b155-11e8-aed9-001309990777_story.html Law Enforcement told her parents to pretend that he is innocent, they had to sit a at press conference with him, knowing he most likely killed her and her mother held his hand when he reached out. When they found her body in a field, he was arrested and the charade was over. Perhaps similar case with Rebecca's parents, they were told not to publicly air their suspicions to Florian or others and to do just the opposite so they could get him off guard with evidence and arrest him.

Hi, yes of course, I will try to translate as accurate, as I can. Yesterday, already late, I started to listen, but felt a sleep half way, because I was caught up in a case, (that I have been following on and off in the last decade) after a mysterious couple was finally identified. My eyes made over hours, after reading the updates. ;)

The first podcast was about Rebecca as a person, she loved Riverdale from Netflix, found it striking because my daughter, who has almost the same age as Rebecca watched this too, a lot. Also a few noticed on the picture, that was used.

But will give a summary here, on WS and hopefully, there will be some clues to sleuth.

@houndpounder, thank you for sharing, could be that, in this case, the family comes to turns. Must be hard, to think that a family member could have anything to do with the disappearance of Rebecca

As he is still married to Rebecca's sister and part of the family, I can see how incredibly difficult it would be for her parents and sister to look at him as anything but that. I don't fault them at all. Their world is already partially crumbled with Rebecca's disappearance and if this is true, it would be destroyed.

@Rosiebones I completely agree, I could not fathom what they are going through and the walls their brains are putting up to keep everything sane and hopeful for them. Without decent evidence I would do and feel the same way and it’s a shame what limbo they are in, fighting for FR to be innocent and waiting for Rebecca to return. I wonder if any of them are more on the fence than others and how they are dealing with that likely silently.
Thinking about their feelings makes me more mad at the police for their complete mishandling. I pray so hard for them that one of these days Becci just walks into the door and flips their lives right-side up again! Sigh :(

Podcast Rebecca Reusch In the dark
Part 1 - The last message.
1/2

It starts with Rebecca, who she is/was, what she loves..
She was a normal teenager, who liked Netflix, Riverdale. (wich is very populair with peers) The Serie has many paraless with Rebecca's life.
Just like how the podcast starts, I am not sure, if we should talk about her, in the present or in the past.
It starts with an introduction about her family, RR has two older sisters, she is 15 yrs old, lives with her parents in Berlin. Her sisters are 23 and 27 years old.

There is a little intro /info about the parts in these podcast, wich reflects the opinions of her friends, what happened and who is the POI in this case...

A day before her disappearance, she spend at her sister's house.(10 minutes away from her parents house)
The day before she vanished (17 February) , she plays with her nieces, eats pizza, sends a selfie to her cousin with her nieces are on the PC.
It is a girl's night, her BIL isn't there, he is at a work party, works as a cook.
Short after midnight, they are going to sleep. Rebecca sleeps at the sofa in the living room, like she always does, when she sleeps over.
Because of her sister's work, early in the morning, must/has Rebecca get ready for the school by herself.
The bus (M11-busline) stop to school is only a few 100 meters from the house, wich goes directly to her school.
Eline (spelling name?)
(16yrs, a girlfriend of RR) talks about the normal routine, that they normally first meet, chats before going to the classes)
That RR wasn't at school at 7.40 wasn't something to worry about, because the first 3 hours, RR didn't had lessons. Also when she didn't see RR later, she didn't think anything off it, they didn't share classes that day, it's normal that you don't see each other for 4/5 hours, because of their different school schedules.
After the school, E. went to her house, her cellphone pings, it was from RR cousin, at 16.00/4pm.
Normal it takes 20 minutes from school to house. RRs cousin asks "do you know where R is? Did you see her today? She is not at home, didn't answer her mother calls /messages ..."
RR 's friend E. didn't think anything of it, just thought: well.. maybe the battery of her phone was empty, maybe she comes later to house, stopped on her way home, to grab something to eat... "
RR 's cousin (who is a few yrs older then R) didn't had a good feeling about it, Rebecca is very reliable and was always online (makes me wonder, if she took her iPhone charger with her?) Her cellphone is off.
RRs cousin was interviewed, but didn't want to be recordered, she is very careful, serious, nervous, concerned, she did write before being interviewed, that it is very hard for her to talk about Rebecca, they were very close and talked each other everything, like sisters.
She talks about Brigitte R (R mother) who talked with RR teacher, who said R wasn't at school that day, also that with R also her clothing were missing, jeans, jacket etc.
Rebecca's mother calls the police on Monday evening to report her missing. In the upcoming days, the case becomes a high class missing case.

Family friends are starting their own search for Rebecca, flyers are being made, distributed on her school, social media. A lot of RRs video/footage are shared by family through SM.

Three days after her disappearance, LE starts an investigation and uses a picture of RR (Press release, LE about Rebecca disappearance, circumstances)
After that, Rebecca 's disappearence become public known, strangers are looking for her. Also Sascha, (40?) who grew up in Berlin and lives there, he searched everywhere, and because he knows the area very well, abandoned houses, areas, the many ways/roads to RRs school.
(Why did you searched for her? You didn't know her personal..
His answer:I do have a child, that's why.)

Reporter talks about a yearly missing of 6000,most are recovered, only 100 of them keeps remain missing, but Rebecca 's case is well known. Maybe, not her name but her picture is well known (Lolita picture wich had beautyfilters, her eyes were bigger then normal and also her skin was made pure)
It was a picture that she (RR) shortly before her disappearance had uploaded on Instagram.
But there was no lead, coming from that picture, days passed.. It was like she was vanished without a trace.

Suddenly after 10 days (28 febr.) LE had a PC, the arrest of BIL Florian. The msm takes a lot of pictures of Florian. (Florian with a hood on, at his house)
A day later, he was released.
It is said, Florian (BIL) gave contradictions statements and became a POI.
4 March BIL is arrested again, at his work (4star hotel) This time he will be thoroughly investigated,... (?) Another level LE investigation(?) I guess murder, so that LE has more districtions/tools for their investigation (13.33)

Translated it, by listening, I decided it to do, part 1 - The last message (folge 1:die letzte nachtricht)
into 2 parts, because I don't know how to forward, and pressed by mistake to refresh.
It is the first time that I listen to a German podcast, so bare with me. Quite different then my usual podcast, but have to say that this podcast is very good.

Podcast Rebecca R
Part 1 - The last message.
2/2

On March 6,there is a LE statement about the disappearance of Rebecca Reusch.
The murder investigator Michael Hoffmann says in the program "Aktenzeichen XY" that the missing of Rebecca has turned into a murder investigation. He expressed what the family of Rebecca, who has now disappeared for almost three weeks, does not want to admit: "We are now firmly assuming that it is a homicide".
The statement is that Rebecca never left her sisters house and that the POI, is BIl, Florian R. LE releases 3 pictures of FR.Now whole Germany knows, how Florian looks like.
In that same statement, LE says Florian gave contradictory statements, about the time/day of RRs disappearance and the day after her missing. LE says, they have proof that FR was driving with
the family car, on the A12 in the direction of Frankfurt on February 18 and February 20.
Florian is arrested for 2,5 weeks, before LE has to release him, due to lack of proof, linking him to the disappearance /murder of RR..
After his release, the news about Rebecca becomes less, the only investigation news, is about the search for Rebecca 's body, in the area of Brandenburg forest, where the family car was picked up by highway camera' s. The searches are till this day, without any results.

The journalists from the podcast are interviewing Martin Steltner, who tells them that there are no other suspects, that FR is their only POI, but that the evidence isn't enough. During this interview, the journalist are walking by the desk of another colleague of MN, who's work is, about identifying Jane/John Doe's. Who states:"everybody knows, who did it"
After 1,5 year after Rebecca went missing, the police still think it was Florian R.

During the podcast, the questions raise/are mentioned:
Is Florian a manipulator, psychopath, who can lie to his wife and her family so well, that they continue to believe in his innocence or was he lucky?
Or is the Family Reusch right and the police have a tunnel vision, and they haven't investigated no other clues/scenarios ?
How can the police be so sure that Rebecca is dead?

Every possibilities were considered and there is no indication that Rebecca took her personal stuff and left the house. Her phone was turned off, and all the possibilities, like, kidnapping, an accident, something that might have happened on her way are investigated and nothing came out of it.

The journalists of the podcast make a timeliness of the day before Rebecca 's disappearence and the day she vanished.

Evening of February 17. 2019
Around 20.00/8 pm, Rebecca sends a selfie with her and her sister to her niece.
It is a typical girls evening, they order pizza, play games on the computer and around midnight, they are going to sleep. Rebeccas sleeps at the sofa in the living room, like she did on many occasions, when she was staying over at her sisters place. Her sister Jessica is going to the bedroom upstairs.
Florian, Jessica's husband arrives at home at 5.45 Am, he had a party from his work and is toxicated. He said, he went to bed, and felt a sleep, after coming home.
Jessica is awake shortly after Florians arrival, makes herself and their 2 year old daughter ready for the day. She doesn't look for Rebecca in the living room. Around 7.00 am, she leaves the house with her 2 Yr old, takes her daughter to daycare before going to her work.
Rebecca 's mother BR tries to call Rebecca on her cellphone (says this in an interview) at 7.15,making sure, Rebecca will be on time for school. Rebeccas phone goes straight to voicemail.
Rebeccas mother BR didn't know that Rebecca had the first few hours off.
BR calls Jessica who tells her that Rebecca has to be at school at 9.50 and that Rebecca has probably turned fly modus on,on her phone. She did that often, so she didn't get disturbed while sleeping or that Rebecca had her cellphone off..
Around 8.25 am, Rebecca's mother calls again, Rebecca 's phone again goes straight to voicemail.
It is known that between 6.00 and 8.00,Rebecca' s phone has logged in, at least one time on the router of her sisters house.
After rebecca 's phone goes straight to voicemail, her mom calls florian, but he refuses the call. Shortly after Rebecca' s mom sees that florian had called her back so she calls him again, this time he answers, she asks him if rebecca is still there, and if she is getting ready for school.
BR tells in an interview that she hears him walking down the stairs, into the living room, checking and says No Rebecca isn't here. According to Florian, Rebecca wasn't there at 8.25
Rebeccas mom sends a what's app message at 8.42. "hi sweetie, I hope you got okay to school, kisses smiley"
The message arrived on Rebeccas phone, but was never opened or read..

On the basis of her phone, police assumes, Rebecca never left the house alive.

Digital forensic Professor analog explains how a smartphone works.
Rebeccas friends stated before that RR was always online and reachable. Even her niece told that Rebecca has asked her to take over her Snapchat account, during a school camp, because she couldn't get online and wanted to send daily a picture to her friends.
The day of her disappointment, all Rebeccas online activity suddenly stopped.
The forensic analysis experts explains. When something like that happens, then something must have happened. Or your phone is broken or the owner can't use it for what for reason ever. LE never got a hold on Rebeccas phone, so it is harder to check. They did obtain some phone records through the profider and router data, who can read if you were logged in. But it can't say if hern phone was off or on flymodus.

Police scenario :
Florian was drunk when he came home from the work party. Rebeccas sleeps on the sofa in the living room.
When Jessica leaves the house at 7.00,he is alone with her. Florian said he slept during that time, but LE can prove he is lying, he was watching *advertiser censored*, this was also stated by several others, independently from each other. Then he goes downstairs to Rebecca, shortly after she is dead.
When Rebeccas mother calls, he rejects the call, to call back shortly after to make sure his deed goes unnoticed. Rebeccas hasn't left the house, as he says, but she is dead.
LE can't proof it, but suspect it.
Florian kept silent during his arrest and accusations.
Florians lawyer has no comment, when asked for an interview.

Friends of Rebecca
In the beginning, the conversation is, a little bit on edge and starts nervous, but as soon as the ice breaks, they talk about Rebecca, her life, dreams, concerns. One of parents show a recorded video, taken in the summer of 2018,where Rebecca is running down the street in a bathrobe yelling:
"I am a *... *"It was a challenge, one of her friends say and she took it. A lot of laughter.
(*sorry guys, I think she was telling that she was some kind of a bird, but I didn't quite understand the word or meaning)

A
fter the video, one of her friends tells, that she got a picture from Rebecca shortly before her disappearence, through snap chat.
The (snap chat) picture disappears right after you saw and open it.
Her friend was still in bed when she puts her cellphone on and opened it.
It was a selfie from Rebecca made in front of a mirror, with a white sweater jeans and jacket on, like she was ready to leave the house. It is the outfit she was wearing, same as the description as missing.
When her friend opens the photo, she wonders why Rebecca looks like she is on the point of going out. They are in the same class and school starts for them at 9.50.She answers the picture with her own, lying in bed and asking Rebecca why she is so early awake and ready.
There is no answer, neither is the message opened. Her friend doesn't know exactly when she turned on her phone and saw the picture that Rebecca send but it was probably around/before 8.30.
It is assumed that Rebecca left the house before 8.30 with her jacket on.
Given the time of the selfie snap chat picture the time frame of florian doing something to Rebecca is very narrow.

The podcast part 1 - The last message ends with if you have any tips, pls call...

Sorry you guys, still haven't listened to the other parts of the podcast..
But nevertheless, here is an update about the digital investigation of Rebecca's disappearance, that might be quite interesting..
With the help of Google, ofcourse

  • Rebecca Reusch (Berlin) misses: Investigators get USB stick with sensitive data - details are now known
Missing Rebecca Reusch: USB stick with sensitive data is leaked to investigators - first details known
There is still no trace of Rebecca Reusch, now investigators could finally come one step closer to solving the missing person. Sensitive data has been leaked.

A few weeks ago , two journalists published previously unpublished details and the Berlin public prosecutor's office also commented on the current investigation on the anniversary of the disappearance of Rebecca Reusch. However, as has now been revealed by a media report, the investigation could indeed make good progress. Can the student's disappearance finally be resolved?

Rebecca Reusch is missing: can the riddle about the student from Berlin be solved now?
It could be the missing student's cell phone that could finally steer the investigators on the right track. Because, as Bild claims to have learned, officials from Berlin are said to have asked Google headquarters for help over six months ago at the request of the public prosecutor. Aim of the investigators: data from Rebecca Reusch's user accounts. These could not only reconstruct the girl's last hours, but also reveal contacts to previously unknown people.

As Bild further reports, Google headquarters is said to have responded with a positive answer at the beginning of February 2021. Accordingly, a data carrier has now been leaked to the investigators. As an investigator apparently confirmed to the portal, a "huge amount of data" is said to be stored on this USB stick. This data should include user accounts with Snapchat and Google, among other things. On the basis of this data, investigators apparently want to reconstruct when which search engine could have been used by Rebecca's user accounts. Telephone numbers should also be stored on this stick, as well as search queries, voice commands or calendar entries.

Rebecca Reusch misses: Investigators get a USB stick with countless important data leaked
But that's not all, investigators should now be able to determine whether the user accounts of the missing Rebecca have been actively used after her disappearance. The devices on which the accounts could have logged in can also be evaluated. As Bild further reports, the Google headquarters should also have access to the IP addresses and telephone numbers of the respective SIM cards. All this data is said to have been made available to the investigators from Berlin.

As the paper further reports, all of this data should be evaluated up to date. It will only become clear in the near future whether the new data carrier will finally provide the decisive trace to be able to determine the whereabouts of the student.

Rebecca Reusch (Berlin) vermisst: Ermittler bekommen USB-Stick mit sensiblen Daten - Nun Details bekannt | Welt

Rebecca Reusch, Berlin girl ,15 yr, at the time of her disappearance more then 2 years ago.

Her case is still reported.
Several newspapers have recent news articles written, about the evaluation of surveillance videos :

"Now there should be a new trace in the missing person Rebecca Reusch, reports Bild. This time investigators are said to have evaluated surveillance videos of a bakery and various bus routes. “You can see the result tonight at 9.10 p.m. on“ Achtung Fahndung ”. Image initially leaves open who exactly the investigators are and where the material from the overgrowth videos comes from. In addition, new photos of Rebecca should be seen in the program. Prosecutor Martin Glage comments on the current status of the investigation. He explains what conclusions can be drawn from surveillance cameras on buses and trains. The current statements from the article can be found here.
