Robert Fromer, 26, a British man who went missing on Sunday as he hiked in the Pindus mountain range close to the Albanian border.

Fromer, who had flown into northern Greece on a trekking holiday, was last seen in Konitsa, a mountain town in the picturesque region where he was renting a room.

Rescue workers were focused on an area around Astraka, one of the peaks of Mount Tymfi. The Briton’s mobile had been deactivated, making the search harder still.

A British hiker has been found dead in a gorge in north-western Greece after a three-day search operation.

A pilot flying one of two helicopters brought in to help the search discovered the the body of Robert Fromer, 26, on the slopes of a ravine in the Pindus mountain range. Police said an operation was under way on Thursday to remove his body from steep and rocky terrain.

“He has been found dead unfortunately,” Theodoros Chronopoulos, a police spokesman, said. “It appears that he slipped and fell, but we still don’t know that for certain.”

How sad to lose his life so young. I'm glad the rescuers found him, and hopefully, if they can recover him, he can return home. I understand from reading the article, posted by @Legally Bland, that Robert was found in a steep and rocky ravine, and they are using a Greek navy combat helicopter for the recovery effort. RIP Robert.
