Perhaps another way of protesting school shootings and a message to Govt. would be for parents to refuse to send their kids to school until the schools could be made safer by whatever means they can deploy to do so, whether that is more LE presence or even some type of military presence that would be trained to take down someone that wants to shoot up a school or thinking about doing so?

I can't believe my tax dollars go for kids to play sports. I don't even like football!

Aren't American tax dollars used mainly for warfare? How many trillions of dollars is the country in deficit right now?

Wouldn't kids miss out a lot of education? How long would it take and how much would it cost to enact the measures (including salaries for new employees) you've listed?

OT

Right?! It’s not like they’re being coached by Carmello Anthony or whatever. It’s just kids in sweat-wicking nylon-polyester costumes racing around on someone else’s well-maintained greenery.

I mean, the high school sports coach is a stereotype for a reason! It’s just a game.

*Before anyone corrects me, no need; that’s the joke.

What good is the education when there won't be any jobs for them when they leave school? Even college qualified kids are finding it difficult to gain employment these days.
And they can always home school for a little while until things get sorted.

Then the parents would literally be breaking the law. They’d also be denying their children an education. They also could potentially go to jail and risk their children being removed from the home. Meh, I’ll pass, but ymmv.

Source for this? No jobs for high school grads? What is the unemployment rate of recent high school graduates? University graduates?

Some of them must have jobs.

I'm not clear on how this relates to the topic of gun control. Can you explain? Thanks.

Not sure how easy it is to pull a kid out of school just whenever and immediately start home-schooling.

Just quit your job and home school them, whether or not you can afford it or are able or remotely qualified to do so! Take that, 45 minutes of "lost" class time!

I am pretty sure that Australia's unemployment rate is higher than the US's.

I am talking of my experience of my son graduating HS in Florida. A lot of his friends joined the military because they couldn't get a decent paying job to support themselves with.
It might be different elsewhere? And kids getting out of college, finding difficulty in getting a job as well. It's alright if you only want to earn minimum wage and live at home i suppose.

It doesn't take too long. Just need to talk with the school about it and organize it, and there are quite a few kids that are home schooled successfully.

If "What good is the education when there won't be any jobs for them when they leave school?" is how you feel IMO today's walk out shouldn't be a problem.

But the school’s closed as ... someone ... cleans up after a mass shooting where dozens of kids and adults were wounded and killed. And, besides, it’s crawling with cops rn! [emoji8]
