Respectfully snipped for focus.

One, THEY ARE. Watch the protests and you’ll figure it out for yourself.

Two: This isn’t a left-right issue.

Yes, for God’s sake, let’s all join reality. Please.

THIS IS REALITY.

Moo, imo, yadda yadda, etc. ad infinitum

Exactly. Why do some people live in denial that gun violence is ALL ABOUT THE GUN! Does gun control offend them more than the sight of dead children? Because that's the reality. Maybe they feel that people have more right to open fire on someone than the other person has the right to live. Damn I just don't know anymore.

The march is freaking awesome imo!

I have the utmost respect for Emma - she isn't making this about her, she is making her voice the voice of many imo. Standing on stage for the duration of the shooting she survived - I have many tears of joy and respect but no words.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/24/us/march-for-our-lives-emma-gonzalez/index.html

The NRA on the other hand -

NRA YouTube video mocks Parkland teens: "No one would know your names" if shooter had been stopped

https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/24/us/march-for-our-lives-latest/index.html

I will not watch this NRA video and give it any credence, they clearly have nothing to offer - imo the NRA is acting like the children they want to stop - the children are the adults here. Jmo.

The NRA is acting like children are the enemy.

While catching up with news on today's march I saw this -

"Teddy bears have to meet consumer health & safety standards. Guns don't."

https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/24/us/m...a4ba7e7ad397@livefyre.com&hubRefSrc=permalink

I was blown away by the truth in that. A few years ago my local re-use center refused all the stuffed animals I had to give away that no one used or enjoyed anymore and had nothing wrong with them - no stuffing falling out, no fading in the colors and no stuffy odors coming from them. Mind blowing imo.

Exactly. Why do they think it's appropriate to mock these children? Especially on days where there are memorials being held? Who are the supposed adults here? The NRA reminds me of the ignorant school yard bully, who can't control their actions. They just have to be as obnoxious and offensive to people who are victims. The children taking part in the action and memorials today display more wisdom at their young ages than the adults at the NRA do.

I was hugely disturbed to learn about how many firearms have been stolen/missing/unaccounted for from various police officers/departments (944 from Bay Area & CA police alone). It is apparently not uncommon for “standard procedure” to include leaving loaded AR15’s in patrol cars. It just seems there has to be a better way.

An AR-15 is just a medium power gun, that's why they are primarily only used to hunt vermin like foxes and racoons. A higher power gun like a 30-06 hunting rifle would be much better for larger game. The "assault rifle" hyperbole is pure propaganda. If you don't believe me, look up the muzzle-energy for the two-the AR-15 is barely half as powerful. The AR-15 is no more or less than a semi-automatic carbine but, if you call them that, it wouldn't scare enough people.

People shouldn’t be allowed to buy guns made for mass killings of humans.
To suggest you need an AR 15 to kill rats is absurd.
I don’t know you but I hope you know that and your comment is really just a satirical statement on the lunacy of gun owners.

Yes, in the case Trump loves to bring up at rallies, where a young girl was killed on the embarcadero by an immigrant that found the gun wrapped in a T-shirt and accidentally fired it, (he was found not guilty), the gun was taken from the back seat of a agents unlocked car. Trump never mentions that fact.

They're just being mean, which might mean they're scared.

@TomiLahren
Simply being anti-NRA is not a solution. March FOR something, not just against everything.
(It's literally called March FOR Our Lives!)

Disarming the citizenry is the first step to oppression and tyranny. Kids, I suggest you crack open the history book and learn this pattern.

It’s a shame schools don’t teach the U.S. Constitution anymore. Appreciation for our 2A is lost when history is forgotten and ignored in favor of “feelings” 101.

(How dare they have feelings after their classmates were slaughtered.)

BBM - I would like to know if the constitution is intentionally not taught in the US anymore - might today's savvy kids realize the subject was muskets and not AR15's?

Anyone who actually studies the Constitution will discover that the militia is a force to protect the nation from invasion or insurection. Not a force to fight against our own government.

The real defense against tyranny is that we are a nation founded on laws instead of imperial decrees.

ETA: There is another defense against tyranny that is a bit more subtitle. Our army is an army of the people. Open to all Americans regardless of race, creed and national origin. We don’t have ethnically pure military units like Saddam’s Republican Guard or the Cossacks of the Czars that will gladly kill civilians that belong to the wrong tribe or practice the wrong religion.

NRA host taunts Parkland teens: ‘No one would know your names’ if classmates were still alive'

"I just think it’s a testament to the sick immaturity and broken state of our government when these people feel the need to peddle conspiracy theories about people that were in a school shooting where 17 people died, and it just makes me sick,”*David Hogg told BuzzFeed News. “It’s immature, rude and inhuman for these people to destroy the people trying to prevent the death of the future of America because they won’t.”

OMG, the NRA!!! They’re radical, heartless gun industry lobbyists, imo. Its blatant, incendiary, extremist rhetoric is condescending and offensive. Unconscionable.

Tell ya what would be awesome: That nobody knows who these kids are because equalizing the age 21 requirement, reinstating the ban on military-style semiauto rifles and closing the “boyfriend loophole” nationwide means gun violence like this becomes far less frequent.

Anyone who thinks it won’t, this sub is filled with valuable and educational links. IMO

Doesn't warm mine.

"School shooting survivor tired of ‘old *advertiser censored* parents’ failing on gun control"
(David Hogg)
“When your old-*advertiser censored* parent is like, ‘I don’t know how to send an iMessage,’ and you’re just like, ‘Give me the ****ing phone and let me handle it.’ Sadly, that’s what we have to do with our government. Our parents don’t know how to use a f–king democracy, so we have to"

I agree, what a disrespectful, opinionated little s**t IMO. Where does he live at 17yrs. old? Under mom & dad's roof that pay his way in life? Does he have a job? That kid has a lot to learn about life yet IMO. Maybe when he is out there as an adult paying his own way he will learn some more about life. And there is no need to pull the p**s out of the older generation either. He didn't live in that era so what would he know?
I have always said for a while now i feel sorry for the younger generation today, because they will have things a lot more difficult than when i grew up, and have many more obstacles to overcome.

Definition of insurrection

: an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government

Jmo, appears to include all gov, including our own.

According to the Supreme Court, it the second amendment isn’t just about muskets.

Yes, the constitution IS still taught in schools. Ya can’t really teach U.S. history or civics without it.

Moo

ETA: Tyranny, by definition, is “cruel or oppressive government or rule.”
