More to the picture of the night of Feb. 9 to Feb. 10. SC was too busy to answer his phone or didn't have reception. But if he was just back home after 11pm why not? And why couldn't skype CK. Did any police interview ask him what he did during those hours? Did he mention he drove a different truck to Hanzawas for a drug deal?

Stressful for him that night. SC surrounded his self with beautiful women he couldn't control any of them or keep any of them happy

Clearly Hanzawa's is not the place I'd want to break down after hours. Is it safe to assume they don't have security cameras keeping an eye out on that side lot?

So SC's state of mind, according to testimony, that evening that he allegedly killed CS is that of a man who is irritated, out-of-sorts, wound up, pissed off and stern.

Anyone else think something went awry between him and Charli that evening? Why was he trying to squeeze her murder into his busy schedule? Why did he murder on a work night?

So unnecessary. All of it.

Ironically I discovered a pic of SC's mom when she had her hair pulled back and done up. She favored Charli for a brief glance. CK is petite like SC's maternal grandmother and it's locally known that she had a hand in raising him. Certainly his grammar would have been influenced by her. I wonder if subconciously, he was attracted to the woman most like his dear grandma-ma.

Then again, Taylor... Ok. Forget what I said.
Interesting!
I think that Mom liked doing the occasional retro glam type looks, so that would be similar to Charli, hadn't thought of it until you mentioned the photo.

Narcissists need woman to make them feel like they're special and terribly important. It's called Narcissistic Supply, the drug that keeps them feeling good about themselves. Younger women are more likely to look up to him. Honesty and candor are upsetting, not valued. The image the N person projects must not be questioned by his relationship partner.
Also, cheating is humiliating so Taylor betrayed him. It's not something anyone likes, but their relationship was a little new for him to make it out to be such a tragic drama.

It looks like the court has disallowed testimony from Taylor on how Steven stole her stuff and slashed her tires, no? Too bad.

yes, as you said before, who was he to take her and Joshua from all the people who wanted them and loved them?

Maybe he regarded this as work. Or he had an opportunity. I think he had the crazy idea it had to happen before Cass returned. Because you know he and Cass would be stuck together like glue and no time for him to go murder out Hana Highway. As it was their Skyoing got disrupted. <sarcasm>

I think maybe he had been keeping a lid on his rage and anxiety about the baby, not telling Charli how not OK he was with her making the decision. Those things he told the police that made him sound so accommodating and respectful of her right to make the choice and be happy, maybe he'd been saying to her and he decided it was time to level with his real feelings.

I didn't know Charli, but I can't imagine anything she would say could placate him. Maybe she tried or maybe she talked back. Maybe she fought and his hands got messed up. Maybe that's what went awry. I just want to cry thinking about it every time. I know there are people with black souls, but I don't understand why.

Are you alluding to an issue separate from the pregnancy, NL?

The truck thing is still confusing ...
Please indulge...No new Ford truck is mentioned. Is someone mistaken?

According to the Maui news article:

In Oct. '13, Taylor went w/ SC out Hana Rd. in his "every day" truck, (which broke down)

On Feb 2, Super Bowl Sunday, SC drove the "new white 4Runner"....

Late Sunday/early Monday, the fateful Feb 9/10, when he met Taylor & a friend at Hanzawa's, SC "arrived in his white truck,

the same truck that got stuck on the Hāna Highway in October of 2013"...

"Farner said she also recalled asking the defendant about his 4Runner and said he told her that it was broken down at his house"...

And what vehicle did SC clean up on Monday, Feb 10, according to FTL?

There are so many other important revelations in the two girlfriend's testimonies, but I really do want to this this part straight--it helps to untangle the narrative as the facts roll out.

Thanks, all!

Great catch, Napili! Prior to Taylor's testimony the best information we had on WS came from poster Loio; it was she who mentioned the "white Ford truck." The picture from Maui News appears to show a white 4Runner, not lifted, and it matches the testimony.

So I think your great eye for detail and Taylor's testimony just cleared up the vehicle confusion.

SC normally drove his gray 4Runner with the broken back window. He drove the white 4Runner to impress the ladies. Remember he said that Charli didn't like his lifted 4Runner because she had to climb into it?

So I think there are 2 4Runners -one gray, lifted, with a broken back window, a 2000 watt stereo, and 16 speakers, and one new, white not-lifted that needed tires.

I have no idea which 4Runner he had detailed, though. I don't trust anything that SC says, so I am going to not believe that the gray 4Runner was "broken down at his house" until I hear confirmation from either the grandfather or the cousin.

Anyway, I think you and Taylor cleared up the confusion for us.

Da best:

Farner said it was into the early morning hours of Feb. 10, 2014, when the defendant finally contacted her in a text.
In a May 8, 2014 interview, police had questioned Farner about some 90 attempts to reach Capobianco on her phone.
When defense attorney Jon Apo asked Farner about the attempts she said, “I remember thinking okay, he’s not going to answer me, so I’m going to blow him up,” said Farner.

LOL! She blew him up all right...

I wonder where Hanzawa's security cameras are, how long they keep the video files, and if the police checked with them. In my neck of the woods, I have seen drug deals take place in Denny's parking lots.

Maybe he chose Sunday night because it is the quietest night of the week and most people are home?

IMHO, SC was hell-bent on getting rid of his problem, which was not so much Charli as it was Joshua, although he was mightily angry with her for keeping the baby when he wanted her to "take care of it". He needed to be in control, and he could not control this situation. He'd made up his mind, picked a time, and he was determined to do it then.

What amazes and fascinates me about these types of killings is that the killer doesn't think about the consequences, and doesn't think he will be caught. It's like part of their brain is missing; the part that says, "but if I get caught, I will go to jail for a long, long time." The same mindset is at play with his brazen drug dealing. He doesn't think, "there might be security cameras and I could get caught." I keep saying he is stupid, but it's that arrogance, that "let them try and catch me" attitude that blows me away. And how he just ran his mouth and told lie after lie in his police interview, and even submitted to a polygraph test... Just feeling like everyone is going to believe him and it will all blow over and he will have his idyllic island life back. Or not thinking at all about what will happen after he does the deed.

So unnecessary and so preventable.

Boy in the jungle dont always care what he get as long as he get. Now Taylor was the prize in my book but she cheated on him correct? Didnt give him the devotion that ol Cass did.

This is great stuff, and I hate to point this out, but it doesn't cover the Ford truck Loio mentioned, being that Forerunners are made by Toyota. ;-)

We know he had a few...dress rehearsals

That makes 3 vehicles, then.

He wasnt done with her and felt she owed him I reckon

Yeah I dont think so. Old Gray 4 Runner and whatever the new (New to him) one was. I will see if I can go to the study page and find the conversation with the guy who was selling it to him.

I was wondering if they were going to allow Taylor to testify about the burglary and tire slashing. Now I have to go refresh my memory about when that occurred. I was surprised that they were in touch at all following the breakup. It was rumored to have been a bad breakup, and SC told the police that she had cheated on him, so I had just assumed that they had ceased contact.

Point taken, but he could presumably get from Charli, who still loved him, but kept that connection on the down low. He had a type for the girl he wanted the public to see him with, where he got the particular ego boost he needed. That is, as long as the prize doesn't slap his ego down by cheating.

I was serious that Taylor was lucky nothing happened when they broke down on Hana Highway. Maybe the fact she was his cousin's BFF gave her some immunity though.

In Charli's case, he had no problem with hurting her family. Probably a bonus from his twisted perspective. Except he unleashed all the furies of hell on himself by messing with that ohana. Big miscalculation. Maybe he thought the police wouldn't go the extra mile because the family was neither tourist nor local. It would just be one more unsolved case of a woman going missing on Maui.

He also lost his friends Adam and the Kaisers, and eventually his precious job with Mana Foods where he met much of his social circle and his girls -- the main job he had held on Maui. Apparently didn't foresee that either.

It was around the second or third week of September. I think the temper rampage and the night with Charli were the same time. It was October for that birthday drive. I was definitely surprised to hear about the birthday so soon after.

CK comes into the picture in late Oct or Nov, but I don't remember exactly.

Courtesy Maui News:
Kupstas, who now lives in Haiku, said she met Capobianco in mid-October 2013 at Casanova's bar in Makawao. At the time, she was planning to leave Maui the following month to move back to Pennsylvania.
