Missing Person

The Maui Police Department requests the public’s assistance with any information on the whereabouts of Marina Bonofiglio (33) of Kahului.

Ms. Bonofiglio was reported missing on Sunday, August 25, 2024, by a friend after she called for a ride from the area of Pulehu Road in Kahului, approximately .1-mile northwest of the Central Maui Landfill at approximately 4:00 a.m.

Upon their arrival, Ms. Bonofiglio’s friends were unable to locate her, but they did find her personal belongings, including her cell phone, along the side of the road.

A search was conducted in the immediate area where Ms. Bonofiglio’s property was found; however, there were no signs of her.

Ms. Bonofiglio does not have a vehicle, and her friends are concerned for her safety and well-being.

Ms. Bonofiglio is described as being Caucasian, 5-foot-4, weighs about 115 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. It is unknown what type of clothing/footwear she was last wearing.

If you know the whereabouts of Ms. Bonofiglio, please contact the Maui Police Department’s non-emergency number at 808-244-6400; if it is an emergency, dial 911 and refer to MPD report number 24-024639.

Marina's FB, no posts since Sept 2022.

What could have happened to Marina? If someone was driving by and offered her a ride, why would she leave her phone & belongings behind? She would probably have called her friends to say she no longer needed a ride, too. How likely is it that someone grabbed her and pulled her into a vehicle?

The photo looking like a booking photo was a start. She's apparently out on $5000 bond, and a bench warrant was issued on August 5th (unable to open the warrant without paying the court website a fee), Original Indictment May of 2024 on charges of HRS 712-1243(1) - Promoting a Dangerous Drug Third Degree Severity: FC - Felony Class C and HRS 712-1246-5(1) - PROMOTIONG HARMFUL DRUG 4th DEG (Misdemeanor). It's not her first experience in the court system. The vehicular ones are speeding (30+mph over with no license, reckless driving and no insurance), another Failure to Appear and one domestic violence case dated 2020. http://jimspss1.courts.state.hi.us:8080/eCourt/ECC/PartyNameSearch.iface

If she called for a ride at 4 a.m. chances are, in my opinion, drugs were involved, or she got spooked knowing she is wanted, and took off, hopefully safe somewhere.

eerie any time of day. Given she was some distance from the landfill, she may have been in the more populated area to the NW of the landfill, just such an odd thing to note IMO

Some observations which are just my opinion. First of all she seems so thin, and with the drug arrests, I'd worry about her health, plus maybe the company she keeps. In addition, when looking at her FB profile, it looks like she had serious problems with the father of her child. She mentions at one point that he was supposed to have the child for 1 month, but at the point of the post, he had had the child for 2 months. She also posted things about love, etc. I would think thought hat police would have already checked this out.
