History of drugs, violence: Suspect in murder of Holly Bobo has extensive record

The man charged with the murder and kidnapping of Holly Bobo has a history of violence toward women, including a conviction for shooting his mother in the knee in 2004, according to court records.

His criminal records show a past marked by problems with anger and substance abuse.

The frequency of the violence increased as Zachary Rye Adams’ drug charges progressed from possession of marijuana to possessing, manufacturing and selling methamphetamine and cocaine, according to court records.

Bobo family prepared for next steps in legal case, Decatur County offers more support

It could be up to a year before the family of a nursing student who had been missing for three years sees the suspect stand trial.

The family of Holly Bobo met Friday with officials from Tennessee’s 24th Judicial District to learn what comes next after this week’s arrest and indictment of Zachary Rye Adams on murder and kidnapping charges.

“We had a good conversation, they had some good questions,” said Hansel McCadams, the district’s attorney general. “We went to them today to explain to them the process. They handled those conversations very well. We’ll be working very closely with them from this day forward.”

Arrest 9 days before Holly Bobo was taken: Report says Zach Adams assaulted an officer

Just nine days before Holly Bobo was abducted, the man now charged with her kidnapping and murder was accused of assaulting a police officer while in possession of numerous drugs.

Zachary Adams was arrested in Natchez Trace State Park on April 4, 2011, following a traffic stop. He was released from the Henderson County Jail the next day on $12,500 bond.

The family of Holly Bobo is facing an emotional week. The man accused of killing the 20-year-old is due in court for his arraignment thias Tuesday. The Bobo's church is providing support for the family through prayer and held it's first Sunday service today, since finding out that Holly Bobo will not be coming home. Praise and worship songs filled the Corinth Baptist Church sanctuary in Darden this morning. One voice was missing, though. Pastor Don Franks said, "Holly liked to sing at our church."

TBI investigates Bobo murder suspect in 2004 attempted abduction

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into whether Holly Bobo murder suspect, Zachary Adams, is connected to the attempted abduction of another Tennessee woman.

Just three months before Holly Bobo went missing, Heather Sullivan claimed a man tried to abduct her in Centerville, Tenn. She says the man almost succeeded, but she scared him away.

"I was going with him he was making sure of that, that's how hard he grabbed me. I mean, I had marks on my arm for four days," said Sullivan.

Thinking back to the early threads - so much was mentioned about the town being very tight-knit and safe to live in. Would have thought someone like the perp would have stood out like a sore thumb!? - so obvious a suspect.
 
Attorney retained as search continues near Adams property

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
The man accused of kidnapping and killing Holly Bobo will face a judge for the first time in the case Tuesday, and his family has now hired an attorney to represent him.


Jennifer Lynn Thompson will represent Zachary Adams. Thompson is perhaps best known for working with the defense for Torry Hansen, the Shelbyville mother who sent her adopted son back to Russia in 2010
