Water presser

We had to change our plans cause things were happening faster and had to keep the dam safe.

Addicts at 7000 Barker 6000

Sill want to hit 8000

addicts resv up barker resv is rising

with relese both resv should peak soon

we still want 16000 total will happen oer the next few days

drones will start flying

we are tying to address all the failed guages

next guy

good guy

buffalo bayou remain important Buff has risen rise more this am and hold at that level

there will be re flooding of areas that started to go down

homes will continue to be increasing flooded and will remain flooded for some time

addicts is doing a bit a better overall with spillway useage

hope storm drainage will take on a lot of the spillway release

Water being released only impacts Buffalo (wish he would have said it like that earlier I would ten know which to see what is happening !!)

Inverness community we are having serious problems with the levee out there we want to keep pople out of there incase of levee breach

some homes will be flooded for several weeks when water sits for weeks house degrades we are not really sure what will be rebuilt.

back to levee crews up there trying to figure out why it is failing looking for boils we think it might be ok but until we understand why it is doing what it doing - that area has not flooded yet.

still not quite sure what the interactions will be

we are getting close to the peak

Were gonna be seeing a lot of graphs like this for the next couple months. They can be misleading for those that are translating the data into "safety" information (leave or no) . We see dropping! Everyone of these graphs starts at normal/ regular , (yellow in this agencies charting) The orange actual means minor flooding The brighter orange is moderate flooding. The purple is major flooding

So, visually when we glance at these we see and conclude it is going down - which is true, but rather meaningless if we are trying to determine what is actually happening or will happen or continue to to happen.

So for this part of the river it actually means that these areas will b flooded for the next 4 days.

And then we need to remember that reduction in levels at this gauge actually mean that the tons of water has moved downstream.

The ground is saturated everywhere , the water is not being absorbed. They indicate movement out of that area and on to catastrophically flood the next area downstream.

It is about movement down - it all has to "go" somewhere - which is the gulf

Other than donating cash (which I certainly don't mind doing) is there anything we can do to help out? I'm heartbroken for all affected.

Details that I'd missed about the three year old child who survived clinging to her drowned mother.

“They were in the water for quite some time,” Riley says. “When the baby was found the baby was clinging to her. The mother did the best she could to keep her child up over the water.”

“The baby also had a backpack that was helping her float on her back and she was holding on to her mom,” Riley adds.

ETA: I've seen the child described as 18 months old and 3 years. Unsure which is accurate.

News is reporting that they were spotted under a trestle --- had they been a few moments later they would have been swept away and the baby may not have been saved. (I believe they said 3 yrs. old on CNN just now). I don't know where the baby is now.

This is such a heartbreaking reality. kudos to the mom for being able to save her baby. She is truly a hero. :tears:
