New update for where we are:

Tap water is not potable and tastes weird. DH and I are sticking to the bottled water purchased late last week.

Just emerged from the tub for a 15 minute cold soak (4" of water).

Staying hydrated, and have a feeling there won't be any work again tomorrow.

I never had this sort of weather do such a number on my body. Sorry guys. Am just trying to stay cool.

Thank you everyone for your support!

You poor thing! Please stay hydrated. I'll keep my eye out if there are any resources in your area. I know that power companies from all over the US are stationed around Florida, they just need to get the streets cleared. Are they doing that in your area?

EDIT: Just found this:

Please still shelter in place. We have NOT given the all clear yet.

Sarasota County Emergency Management Chief Ed McCrane: "We still have not issued an all-clear, as of 6 p.m. We are still assessing damage."

The TV network coverage was so bad I couldn't even watch it. The reporters are worthless. My favorite coverage came from these two guys. I loved seeing how well prepared they were,

Because I love a good animal story:

Neighbors in Marco Island, Florida rushed to rescue this dolphin after it washed ashore during Hurricane Irma.

They say the dolphin was found on someone's lawn Monday morning.

It was stranded about 50 yards inland.

Heavy waves were still pummeling the shoreline, so rescuers couldn't take him back into the ocean.

Instead, they loaded the dolphin onto a truck and released him at a nearby sheltered boat ramp.

I wish we had thought to add batteries and a couple battery-operated fans to the list of things to gather pre-storm. (I keep a couple for when I take the dogs in the car and have to leave them while I get gas or stop at a store, etc). Bottled water is safest for now.... hope you survive the heat. I do wish I could offer up some suggestions or help .... can you come up to MI?

I didn't watch any TV network coverage at all for the same reason. When there is a big news event I come here for the broadest and most in depth information from the members on the scene and/or posting links. I didn't watch much live streaming either...just enough to see how bad it was/is.

St. Johns County Irma updates: 1 confirmed death; Bridges to remain closed

Deputies are urging people to stay indoors after one person was killed and several people were rescued in St. Johns County during Hurricane Irma.

Sheriff David Shoar said destruction from Hurricane Irma is the worst he's seen in his 37 years with the county.

Just saw they made another video after that one (15 minutes ago): https://www.facebook.com/291058294696553/videos/vb.291058294696553/301877173614665/?type=3&theater

They picked up some friends. The road out is closed. They've been in contact with GMA, CNN, etc about doing interviews. So don't think this will be the last we hear of these guys. They are looking for a place to stay for a few days. All hotels are full or closed.

does anyone know anything about vena del mar island off of st pete beach?

haha..maybe! They did say they were going to get gas!

He is in Florida City (just outside the entrance to the Keys). He was escorted out of the Keys and said along the ride he saw Big Pine Key and Marathon and they are basically destroyed and he's hoping whoever stayed survived.

Many many boats are either washed up, unaccountable, sunken or smashed to pieces

The Andromeda and the Harley motorcycle that strapped he strapped to it survived,

Record Flooding In Jacksonville and Charleston today:

The City of Jacksonville tweeted that the flooding “is an incident of historic proportions. The St. Johns River has not seen these flooding levels since 1846.”

Meanwhile, Charleston’s downtown streets were experiencing “incredible flooding,” according to the NWS.

The surge in Charleston came from the Atlantic Ocean, and forecasters predicted that the water would push about a mile inland.

The Post and Courier*reported that at least 100 roads in the Charleston area were shut down due to storm surge flooding, and reported that by 10:30 a.m., NOAA's tidal gauge in the area was at 7.5 feet.*

Well, power is still off - and no work today - not sure we'll have power back at work tomorrow either.

Landlord is coming by to remove the boards tomorrow.

Just trying to stay hydrated, and we have the bedroom and bathroom windows open for air circulation.

My body cannot tolerate Florida heat at all.

Sounds terrible! Going to be hard to get much sleep either. Hate this for you.

We will keep sending lots of cool breeze vibes until your power is back on...

Not sure if this will help but it sounds very favorable for pinellas county.

Irma's path through central Florida has brought howling winds, toppled trees and ripped down power lines to Pinellas County overnight. The sheriff's office initially restricted access into the county due to continuing hazardous conditions. The county's roads re-opened at 9:30 a.m., but the barrier islands remain closed until 4 p.m. Travel restrictions did not apply to those driving inside county lines.

If you have some, add about 1/3 C baking soda to your shallow bath. When we had a lake cabin, and I was in menopause, it helped tremendously to make me feel cooler and fresher.

We have power, and I feel blessed. I am thinking of you.

Yeah, at one point I saw three different network news feeds showing exactly the same thing. Three reporters standing in the rain in Downtown Miami fake leaning into the 30 mph wind pretending that they were in the middle of the hurricane. Everyone of the reporters involved with that BS should be fired for fake news. That's why I haven't owned a TV in 15 years, and don't miss it. I watched the entire thing on Periscope from people who were actually in the eye of the hurricane. I don't think any of the reporters were even within a 100 miles of the hurricane.

Reading posts and checking in. Keeping all of you in thoughts and prayers. Stay safe and hydrated.

The article did make me way more optimistic about the pinellas park house but the one on vena del Mar I don't hold out much hope for :(
