People of the East Coast: in 9 months many of you will be saddled with a great decision.
Resist the urge to name your storm-child "Sandy."

Scary...houses on fire in several places, and no one can get to them because of the water being too high.

Oh man...this is horrific. All of this.

First casualty in Toronto. Woman dead after being hit by flying debris :(

That's awful...:(

We are back home now after our quick drive. We came home because of the high winds. Saw some downed trees. Dodged a trash can lid in Old Town Alexandria. Lots of trash cans (the metal ones owned by the city) and newspaper 'machines' rolling around in the streets. But no flooding at all.

Seriously, after complaining of folks requiring rescue because they didn't heed warnings, I wondered what we were doing out and about. So we got smart and came home...

It's ugly out there but I think much better than NJ/NY. :(

The buoy off the Jersey coast shows a wave height at 26.9ft down from 31 feet. Maybe that is a good sign things are going to improve. This is far from over but maybe the worst is right now.
All the water level at Batter Park in lower Manhattan has leveled off
