Oh wow! So sorry. I followed Kyron's case but I don't believe I knew about that video. It seems like there was something about a video and I thought it had to do with child trafficking but I think it got removed before I ever saw it. :(

I can't express how horrible it was and how real it seemed. I did eventually get up the nerve to try to find it many months after that but it had gone "poof". I was glad TBH.

I think whatever happened to these girls happened by 12:30. Now I am going to go back and look at that again because she mentions E's brother - then drops it so I am not sure he went with her that first time. She does say "we" but I am not certain. Here is what she said:

"And this day, they just didn`t come back. And so K____ (ph), Elizabeth`s brother, he`s 12 -- I hopped in my car because the dad came home, and I went searching Elk Run. We were down by Meyers Lake. We drove all over every little park and Evansdale, Elk Run, every mentionable place, downtown area. And we couldn`t find nobody."

It sounds like he went with her. I know when my DD would be 'lost' or be late, I would take my son to help me look because he knew better than me where the kids hung out around here. She would tell us she was going to be one place, and of course, she and her gaggle of girlfriends would end up somewhere else. FRIGHTENING. So I can relate to Grandma's concern.

But it still feels odd to me that with two fathers and an uncle, none of them were out searching in the initial stages.

Might be a good time to check the Scanner thread... Just saying...

Eta, no they haven't found the girls

Maybe he(Abben) meant to say "I still don't know if they're in the lake".

Thank you for being a voice of reason!

Re: another comment by Abben: He said that the bikes were leaned against the fence at 3:58 p.m., the time when he arrived at the scene.

Personally, I doubt the chief was among the first responders, yet posters keep repeating over and over here that 3:58 was the time the bicycles were found. I honestly believe that statement is a mistake, and I hope someone with factual knowledge (who has kept up-to-date with every post, which I have simply not been able to do) will verify that the 3:58 time refers to the time when the chief arrived at the scene. I believe the bikes were discovered earlier in the afternoon by a firefighter who I believe was responding to the first call for searchers to help out....

And, if that is verified, I hope we can somehow discourage everyone who claims the bikes were not seen by authorities/searchers ntil 3:58 p.m.

Any ideas? TIA.

Last sentence BBM

I think she probably couldn't find the right words - I think she meant "you name/mention it, I went there". JMO

I've noticed Grandma sometimes words things a little strangely, which I attribute to the stress of having to answer people's questions. I'd probably come across as a gibberish-speaking lunatic under that kind of stress,

Makes sense. Grandma has always sounded so sincere and so very worried. I tend to believe everything she says. I am just not sure of a couple of others though.

GRACE: Good question. Let`s go to Lyric`s mom, Misty Cook-Morrissey. Also with us, the grandmother, Wylma Cook.

Was that their pattern, Miss Wylma?

WYLMA COOK, MISSING GIRLS` GRANDMA, LAST TO SEE THE GIRLS ALIVE: No, it wasn`t no pattern, because we were always at Heather`s house in the morning and they could have went for a bike ride maybe 9:00, for a short bike ride, and come back. And there was no pattern.

And then another thing I want to say is down by the lake, going, not the bike path, somebody could have snatched them along the road. If there was two people in a van, they could have thrown those kids in their van with their bikes and there`s another way to drive by the houses and get to the end of that trail and they could have chunked the bikes down there with the children.

GRACE: To Misty Cook-Morrissey, explain to me again what Miss. Cook is saying. I think I get it but I want to understand it as it relates to that bike path and where the grandma`s home is.

COOK-MORRISSEY: OK. OK.

GRACE: So what is she saying?

COOK-MORRISSEY: I just started -- I just started the job at Casey`s, so the last five days, Lyric and Elizabeth have been playing at Heather`s every day, taking bike rides, so as far as a pattern, yes, could somebody have been watching them there, and seeing that they play together, that hang out together, this last week. Yes, that could have happened.

What she`s saying is at the end of the U that you were shown, the trail comes around here, the bikes were found here, You come to that end of it, this bridge is out into a wooded area and right here is a big patch of grass where you can pull your vehicles up on to and that`s where we parked our vehicles to get back on the trail and go back this way.

So that`s what she`s saying, that someone could have very well come into that grassy area on the south side of the trail that ends as far as being able to walk or ride a bike.

BBM When is she stating they parked there? Before or after the bikes were found?

IA.

IIRC Abben didn't say when he arrived, did he?

BBM When is she stating they parked there? Before or after the bikes were found?

I think before.

Also, what did she mean about every 'mentionable' place? What is she trying to say?

I think it was probably a misunderstanding the transcript. More likely, she would have said "every imaginable place" which, if said quickly, could sound like "mentionable."

Abben said in a press conference - the last one I think - the bikes were found at 3:58.

i think it might be something along the lines of what katydid is suggesting... they were crushing on some boy, etc... i did the same kinda stuff,lol...

the other idea for me is that this could be kid on kid violence... like 13-14 year old kids... mean bully kids or something. .. idk, it just keeps crossing my mind...

I connect with this because I keep thinking how "out of porportion" Lyric was for her age. I can completely believe that she might have been the object of bullying. Whether that was her reason for thinking about running away (i.e., maybe Mom and/or Gma didn't sympathsize, said simply "suck it up" I couldn't say; or was it a possible motive for locals to harass her is unknown.)

I can't discount any possibility at this point because so little is truly known.... my heart breaks for these girls.

Reminder...

What's said in the scanner thread, stays in the scanner thread. :)

You can post a link to the scanner thread, but no discussion.

:tyou:

I guess I had the same misconception. It's been driving me nuts that the person that moved the bikes off the trail didn't speak up. So I guess Abben just said they were against the fence when HE got there. And in all honesty the firefighter could have just picked them up and stood them out of the way innocently.

Sorry if this has already been repeated but... if it's a misconception this was my misconception too EXCEPT I started wondering, were the bikes moved at all? Were they really "laying across the trail" or were they just in the way enough that TG had to swerve to miss them? Which could easily happen on a narrow part of the path even if the bikes were against the fence and he was riding fast. It's the main reason I can think of for someone not "coming forward" about moving the bikes, if maybe no one did. (I'm still looking for the original "laying across the path" report because I remember it too, but I haven't yet found it so it lead me to think of other ideas).

I will admit that I am not up to speed on this case as many of you are.

I do try to read and get caught up if that is ever possible. After watching this video, many times we focus on what is said not what is actually going on it the background.

In the beginning of this video does anything stand out to any of you that are more up to speed with the case? Such as vehicles seen etc?

The boat around 17 seconds? That is a really quick flash isn't it? Doesn't show the end of the boat that would have the motor. Maybe it was propelled by a paddle??

WHOA! Good catch! As I'm not anywhere near Iowa, is it unusual to see people driving around with boats on trailers?

Well if it is anything like MN it would be abnormal not to see many boats being towed around.
