On the video which shows the bike path, didn't the woman say she did not want to go any further in the direction of the footpath without boots on?

The girls were wearing flip flops. It does not seem likely that they would be horsing around in an area that required boots.

I personally think they never went to the lake. I also don't think the bikes were staged, but dumped after they had been nabbed.

edit: Rose pointed out EC may have been wearing high top sneakers.

LC was wearing flip flops, but EC was apparently wearing high-top runners. Not trying to trump your post, but have heard WC talk about EC having on the high tops. :seeya: moo

Thanks Rose. I always appreciate corrective help, as I am human and make mistakes.

??????????????????????? ooops...I wasn't trying to post...slightly spilled cup of tea on keyboard...I turned it upside down and started shaking it...grabbed tissues to use as wipes...they shredded...shook the upside down keyboard some more and ran for towel...yikes...the LAST thing I meant to do was accidentally post(?) on board here, leaving my fave sleuths with yet more questions than answers. PLEASE laugh with me!!!!

Okay how long would it take to drive from the girls neighborhood to where the bikes are found. Maybe 3 minutes?

I'd say it depends on traffic, if there are stop signs or lights, etc. You'd also have to include time to load and unload bikes (and probably load the girls unless they were put into a different vehicle.)

not with loading or unloading anything, just driving in a neighborhood with stop signs, red lights, etc.

I'd say 5-7 minutes judjng from what it's like here (town of about 14k). Ten+ if the traffic is heavy (lots of left turns.)

From Brovan Blvd. to Meyers Lake, G maps posts three routes ...

Lafayette and I 380 N - 9 minutes

Dubuque and I 380 N - 11 minutes

I 380 N and I 380 S - 11 minutes

Then I think it would depend on stoplights, which would add more time (red lights) and stop signs.

10 minutes maybe..give or take, because of all the cross roads and depending which way you go and how big or small or strong or weak you are. MOO

Wow, thanks!
I just drove the one mile to our school here at 25mph. Two stop signs which I completely stopped at. Coming back partial 35mph road and up and down the side streets at 25mph with 4 stop signs, waited for a guy to backout of his drive, and waited for my cat to move out of my driveway.
The trip there was 4 minutes, the trip back was 5 minutes.

I am starting to think if they were grabbed on their way, it was a truck rather than a van. Easy to throw the bikes into the back and make them get on the floor of the cab.

Wow, thanks!

That's pretty fast peddling. The distance from their home to the location of the bikes is about 1.5 miles I think, with more cross roads...and they are kids.

I guess that's the biggest difference in time. For me to go the same distance as the lake is from their house, I have to go past 7 stop signs, 2 fairly sharp curves and 2 traffic lights.

There was so little time for the abductions. An est. 5 to 8 min bike ride.....with a kidnapping occurring!
You may be right about a truck being used.

Could the abductor(s) have grabbed the girls and left the bikes at the abduction point to be picked up at a later time?

Someone kept saying last night there was so little time to do this crime!
They were right. There was hardly time for an abduction.

What about delivery trucks, bigger than a van...the ones that open
from the back? What deliveries were made that morning?
imoo

HAHAHA. I spent about 5 minutes trying all the suspect names I could think of to try to make them fit in those 4 letter slots before I read your explanation post.

:floorlaugh: I tried names and initials of people.
Even tried curse words. None fit. :waitasec: lol
