Why separate the bikes from the girls at all?

As you said, one or the other could have been found by door-to-door?

:dunno:

Maybe to keep the focus at the lake and hope that no one would be paying any attention to any activity going on at the perp's house.

Then again, I sometimes think the girls had been at the lake, got back home, realized E left her purse somewhere near the jetty, so they were backtracking to try to find it. This may be the reason for it being away from the bikes.

Moo

What about the family driving around searching from 12.30 onwards?

Why didn't they find them?

:cow:

The family did not go to the lake soon enough. They did not find them because they were already gone. :moo:

Come to Texas! Nice and hot here! We had a brief respite from the heat in my area, but it's back in full force. It's so hot, even the chickens won't cross the road.

ETA: Is a woolly jumper anything like a snuggy? A onsie for adults?

LOL I'd kill for a snuggy.

No a woolly jumper is a sweater/cardigan.

The temperature here right now is 11c which works out to be 52 degrees...the coldest day I can remember.

:cow:

But they weren't expected home until 1:30. WC didn't even wait around to see if they came home because she had plans with TB so she left.

So if they "saw" the girls at 12:15, why the massive family search at 12:30?

HC didn't go to the police until 2:45, right?

And Aunt Tammy talked to the guy whose name the cops have at 2.30. Not that LE confirmed that.

Still, I am not buying that they saw the girls, then 15 mins later didn't see them, so they start a massive search, and them wait until 2:45 to GO DOWN TO THE POLICE STATION. Not call 911,mind you. Heather GOES DOWN to the police station.

AAAAAND then nobody finds anything until 4? Really? Um, yeah. Mmmmkay.

It's hinky and it's stinky. IMHO

When I think of wearing the flipflops of my youth and riding a bike, I remember those flimsy things would either fall off, or break at the toe from the excursion on the bike pedal, especially if cycling quickly. Perfect opportunity for someone to take advantage, wondering if the girl's bikes were scratched..

Was there speculation early on that one of the bikes had some scratches or dents? I agree flip-flops are not the shoes to be wearing when biking.

I like your idea about E forgetting her purse and the girls then backtracking to try to find it and being away from the bikes. :)

O/t for a second....I'm absolutely freezing down here in Australia.

It is winter and bitterly cold.

I'm sitting here with a scarf and woolly jumper.

I only wish I was warm like you guys....brrrrr.....

Hi Saphire! I just wanted to tell you that I like your way of thinking and respect that you speak your mind even if others disagree. Truly you offer a lot of insight. I'm also jealous that you have cold weather and it's miserable here close to the equator. Also, I'd love to visit Austrailia one day. :-)

If it is the girls on the CCTV, maybe that's why they seem to be riding like the wind, to get to the lake and back so they wouldn't be late for WC.

I wish the CCTV was clearer to see if a purse is dangling from the handlebar.

Thank you! That is so kind!

It is true that I've pretty well had my mind made up since week one on this case (and others) but unfortunately a lot of what I use to base my opinions on are either against TOS, or related to my own personal instinct/knowledge/education.

I have had a long career in investigation, tracing, and by extension handling deceptive people, also with/for LE.

I was very good at my job...no longer doing it....you can probably tell I've got wayyy too much time on my hands!

I also think in a straight line which is apparently reasonably uncommon. Always the problem solver at my job.

Not boasting, just the way it is.

My opinions could well change completely if new information becomes available but it doesn't look like LE are going to give us any.

:dunno:

Hoping there will be a break in this case soon.
Where are Elizabeth & Lyric?

I guess it's all relative. Around here, people would be going around in shorts and t-shirts if it got up to 52 in the winter! :giggle:

I'm not convinced that this really helps, as 1.5 miles via the roads, or the trail, would be different than a 1.5 mile radius around the camera location.

Thanks, Otto. You're correct that it doesn't really help with a potential path for the girls. What really struck me, though is the fact that almost all of Evansdale is contained within the southern 'half' of the circle. (and recognizing that w'loo/cf is right next to it.)

And this is why I like you. Also, I don't even know your theory to be honest but I appreciate your dedication to your opinions. I tend to waiver and don't like to get into the debates. I have a knack for finding people and nothing to do with missing persons but am equally as good at what i do. I think? So curiosity and my heart led me to this site. These poor girls. No one should endure these odds.

Can ANYone come downstairs and take over the scanner for a while to give us a break? Also, still needing that rewind! Thanks in advance - BTW it is un-manned presently

Thanks for all you do. I would love to help out but don't have acess to audio. Believe me, I've tried to get it set up with no success.

Also OT - from the article:

Several people told us the man is known around the neighborhood by his street name, “psycho.”

Next-door neighbors say they never suspected a thing.

"They seemed like a pleasant family to me," said neighbor <snipped for her privacy>. "She would talk to me, I would talk to her."
What the...?

He's known as "psycho" and with my very limited knowledge of street names, I assume he and/or his 'friends' came up with this name? If your neighbor's known as "psycho" and has a little kid that appears out of nowhere someday, something is wrong that needs to at minimum be investigated thoroughly!

There's got to be more to the story but I couldn't even believe that when I read it.

Sorry, back to our regularly scheduled programming... :) (Here's hoping for "film at 11, missing Iowa cousins found")

I<snipped for space>

I wish the CCTV was clearer to see if a purse is dangling from the handlebar.

I wish it was clearer to even be able to see if it's really the girls. What they were wearing and a purse would be a very nice bonus though.

If it truly is the girls why aren't they sharing w/ us the "improved" version from the lab?

If there is one. I think many of us were speculating there had to have been an improved version because ID'ing the girls in the released one would be so difficult, but I've never seen/read anything confirming an improved video.
