Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers
Thursday, 06 December 2012 10:56
The Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers, with the blessings of Elizabeth and Lyric's families, would like to announce the continuation of the reward drive. 100% of all donations collected between November 19th and December 19th will go towards a reward for information leading to an arrest. This reward is seperate from the previous announced reward and a person can be eligible for both. If the money ultimately can not be used for a reward it is the familes wishes that it go towards helping other victims and their familes. Donations can be left at the Evansdale Police Department, Cedar Falls Police Department, Waterloo Police Department and the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office. Donations can also be mailed to Crime Stoppers- Elizabeth and Lyric, PO Box 1510, Waterloo, IA 50704. A total will be announced December 21st but people are encouraged to call immediately. The drive will continue until the 21st and anyone calling early will still collect the total amount. All contributions are tax deductible.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

NEED TO KNOW Police confident two bodies found are those of missing girls
Investigators look for public's help in finding killer
I think right now they know these children were murdered but of course they are going to wait on the ME to label it one.
That is why they have spent so much time at the disposal scene gathering evidence imo.
IMO
Unless COD was murder suicide what is the likelihood of two victims which knew each other, were both seen playing together hours before they went missing, both ending up found dead at the same spot 20 miles away in a wooded area when neither had a mode of transportation?
Of course it's a homicide.

I agree nmk. I believe we have a least 3 and possibly 4 crime scenes.
The abducion site
The lake (if the bikes were staged there as some speculate and it is not the abduction site)
The murder site
The body site
Even if there are only 2 sites, the abduction site and body site, to me it indicates very strongly this is a local that is responsible. If there are 3 to 4, as I suspect, it further bolsters that idea of a local, hiding in plain site.
Isn't a murder-suicide (although unlikley) still a homicide?
Also, the vehicle used to transport them between counties (unlawful imprisonment or something? I don't feel well and can't come up with the right word.)
Police seek to 'find a killer' of 2 Iowa cousins
By RYAN J. FOLEY and DAVID PITT, AP
EVANSDALE, Iowa — A sheriff investigating the apparent kidnapping and slaying of two Iowa cousins said Friday that the discovery of the young girls' bodies is a long-awaited break in the case that could help find their killer.
Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson said investigators would be deliberate in pursuing the case of Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins, who were 10 and 8 when they disappeared in Evansdale in July. Hunters stumbled upon two bodies believed to be Cook and Collins in a wooded wildlife area some 25 miles away on Wednesday.
Thompson said it could take "several weeks" for their autopsies to be complete and the results to be made public.
"We're going to be extremely meticulous and we're not going to apologize for that," he said a phone interview with The Associated Press. "We've got an opportunity to find a killer"...

I'm sickened by the horrible loss of these 2 beautiful young girls. I can only hope & pray justice is quick though it may be of little comfort.
Haven't had time to catch up on my reading this morning so apologies if this was already posted. This link was on my Facebook page today.

The towns mentioned in this article are very small towns. We used to think of Iowa as such a safe place. Iowa is just like every place else. Terrible things can happen here too. We must find new & better ways to protect our children.
