I don't understand the second service either. I wonder if LE is hoping the perp will attend and thats why it is open to the public? IDK.

Well in most cases, the body is present during the funeral. In this case, where the body is released months later, I see nothing wrong with having a second service. Just like any other funeral ive been to, where there is a church service and then prayers are said at the burial site before the casket is placed in the ground. Same thing.

For the 1st time ever, I actually fell asleep w/my PC tuned into the www... here at my keybrd on p.19 of ws...

My fondest wish at this moment, is that when I come back here tomorrow (and move on to the current p.20), that I will find my peeps here addressing why one would encounter a gate at 7bridges... ????

I haven't heard if it is a new gate or an old gate, but if it is an old gate, many campgrounds around here have gates so they can collect for camping so possibly it was used for that reason when the park was more active? Some campgrounds close the gate at night and open it in the morning, maybe to provide safety to campers or so the park host doesn't have to stand there 24/7?

View attachment 31695 Here is a pic of the river at seven bridges. 4/7/2013. Please be patient with me I went to us cellular and they said some of the pics on my phone are to large to send so I have to find my usb cable to download to my pc. I will find that cable, or I will buy a new one.

So can you pinpoint this location on a map??? Is it to the right of the entrance?? I haven't yet been able to get up there. Just got back from my son's umpteenth college visit

That doesn't make sense to me. The park would look awkward and incomplete if they are only able to raise enough money to pay for like 1/5 of the planned construction. Another thing that shows how unorganized they are, that they can't even bother to come up with an estimate for the cost.

IIRC the figure $100k was being kicked around here and I said then in my opinion it would be more like 250k.

That was only for one gazebo though. This mausoleum is starting to look like some serious work - which means serious money. 250k is a drop in the ocean for something this involved.

I cannot understand why they cleared the entire island all at once. They claim some trees were "unhealthy" but surely their plan started small, with only one gazebo erected at a time for funding reasons?

The scorched earth policy undertaken by volunteers without a final plan, vision, or even funding, is extraordinary and I would be deeply annoyed if I lived on or near the Lake and hadn't been consulted.

I always thought a fountain sounded nice, maybe with a bench...who on earth is going to wish to visit this memorial site for family fun? :dunno:

What do you see?

go back to post 490, click on the photo that I attached, click again, I drew a circle around what I see - looks like an animal ... my first thought was an evil creature cuz that place gives me the creeps

It's a bit confusing, almost like two people were interviewed and they provided different information. Five gazebos and a shelter, or one large gazebo that can be used to host larger events.

Either way, I'm stumped about what phase 2 of the project will look like. Phase 1 has to be flattening the ground on the Island and laying sod - if sod is in the plan. I've updated the model to have a road connecting the Island rather than a bridge (a bridge was in the illustration). I'll hold off regarding one big gazebo or one smaller gazebo.

I wonder if the companies that are involved are donating time and equipment, or if they're charging for the work. I would hope that they are either donating the time and equipment ... or at the very least, giving a huge discount.

From everything I've read, it sounds like the big building is a picnic shelter versus a gazebo, and four gazebo's at the corners, though after seeing the island, I can't place corners? I realize some shelters are enclosed buildings, with electricity, etc., but many of the picnic shelters around here are basically a roof with four columns with picnic tables underneath on a concrete slab. I can't see a shelter like that costing that much? If it is an enclosed building, yes, I can see the cost going up.

Edited to add a link to a typical picnic shelter around here, though I'm not sure what the Angel's Park plans are. And I was wrong about 4 columns, it is 8 columns, but is what I envision when I hear picnic shelter:

What do you see?

I think it is just nature and the way the trees grow on riverbanks.
But what my imagination sees is a lion wearing a crown, and a dino mask on the ground next to him and some kind of demon face on the other side.

But I would say 99.9% it is just trees and weeds.

Huh. I don't see the dino mask, but that is one demonic-looking lion-shaped stump/root/branch.

Otto thank you for all of your renderings. You do an excellent job. Do we know how elaborate they are planning to make these gazebos? Maybe they will just be like small pavilions of sorts. Basically just a frame with a roof. I think its sad to waste good money for a park of this magnitude when they could be using this money to find out who did this by hiring a PI. Personally I think they've ruined this little island cutting down all the trees. I think I would rather see one large gazebo or pavilion with some picnic tables where people could have family reunions at or picnics and flower gardens.

The gazebos that I've included have a simple roof, but the ones in the illustration that was available last weekend have a double roof - a small roof at the top. I think the model will be updated in the next couple of days.

I'm not convinced that a private investigator would be able to do more than what the police are doing. I've never been in the position that the family is in, but I bet that a few private investigators and psychics are loitering around to see if there's money to be made. It seems that the money that has been donated is earmarked for a memorial, so I suppose that is how it should be used.

There is a shelter with picnic tables next to the playground near the parking lot, so I don't know if it's in the plan to build another similar one. I guess we'll have to wait until more information is made available by the organizing committee. At this point, all I've done is looked at the illustrations that were published on the net last weekend and tried to build a 3D model based on those drawings. Hopefully in the future, the organizing committee will have more renderings and illustrations to release to the public ... that will no doubt ease some of the concerns regarding the work that has already begun on the Island. I think there's one thing that we can all agree on ... and that's that there's no turning back. I suppose what we should do is support the effort in any way that we can ... as the only reason that any of this is happening is because two children were kidnapped while riding their bikes on a warm summer day and that was the end of their lives.

Wishes? It was a recreation area until the 287 Street bridge was destroyed in a flood. I think it was in 1993, but I haven't been able to find any more information about the bridge. Maybe there was a gate at that time ... before the flood? Recreation parks are usually gated during night hours. The park was closed after the flood due to lack of use, and there was probably some destruction due to the floods. Since then, it has become a hunting area and a gate would be a bit of a problem? Was there a gate at the park? I thought that there wasn't a gate.

I can make out the thing that looks like a lion or maybe a coyote, except that it's probably three or four different roots and branches. But I still don't see anything that looks like a dino mask to me.

How would people go hunting in the area if it's gated? Park on the road? It looked like a place where the road is travelled. Isn't that road also used to access the farmhouse directly west of the park (the area where the video incorrectly indicated the children's remains)?

If I had to guess, I would say that it is after parking the vehicle on the grass near the road that loops the park, and walking East ... towards where the children's remains would have been found. I think that the exact location would be to the right of the photo ... maybe 500 yards ahead

... guessing on the basis of studying maps.

I thinks its just an optical illusion but I saw it right off - looks like a critter
of some kind. :what:

I blew up the picture. At first you see the hind quarters that to me looks like a deer. The gnarly lower part of the tree "appears" like the animals head? Upon enlarging, I can glimpse the deers ears are actually behind the tree.

At first glance it does resemble a chupacabra :what:

ETA: I enlarged it again. I don't see what was obvious to me yesterday. I expect there is wild life in the park, deer seems most obvious.
Any cougars in the area?

I noticed in one of the pics posted, a newly cut tree. Not a small tree close to the river bank, so it seems to me there is maintenance being done there. Whether or not connected to investigation, I do not know.

Perhaps we could ask our 2 sleuthers. Sometimes you just walk around the gate as opposed to driving in. Also thinking, now that you've met each other, setting up a meetup to go together. Perhaps inviting other locals on this thread. :fence:
