I wonder if he left on his own and got hit by a car and the driver panicked, or if he met up with someone and something went awry and that person panicked.

This crossed my mind. That he may have gotten hit in the dark. Idk

I'd really like to think that someone was just an evil jerk that struck a kid and hid him on the side of the road instead of the harsh reality. He didn't end up out there on his own.

I've been following this poor child's disappearance from the start and am still surprised by the relatively low volume of sleuther comments. I am hoping that we will soon know cause/manner of death, so that we can become more involved in finding out how this happened and who, if anyone, is responsible. It gets so upsetting to see child after missing child go from missing to found deceased without resolution.

I thought so, too, but like Summer Wells he was just gone. Just gone is crazy in this millennium. The difference being there are already really good suspects that were right there. Not a lot of sleuthing to be done, once you've ruled out the family. It's a waiting game, until LE names a POI.

This is the first I’ve heard that the farmer came across remains while mowing a ditch. I wonder if that’s legit? I wouldn’t think a farmer would mow a ditch at the end of September when the harvest is in full swing…

I don't think the farmer was literally mowing a ditch given it was initially reported that he was combining. I do believe that XH's body was most likely resting in a ditch and hidden from view.

Officials execute search warrant in New Sharon in connection to Xavior Harrelson case

NEW SHARON, Iowa (KCRG) - Officials executed a federal search warrant at a home in New Sharon in connection to the Xavior Harrelson investigation on Tuesday morning.

The Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the search happened at around 6:45 a.m.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation confirmed the search was related to the Xavior Harrelson case and that The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is involved in the search.

Officials confirmed the human remains, discovered in a rural area three miles from Montezuma on September 30, were those of Xavior Harrelson. The 10-year-old boy disappeared on May 27.

At this time, officials have not released additional details about the search warrant that was executed Tuesday.

This may be the answer… Note in this pic where the tractor is sitting. This is not a combine. It appears to me that the field has already been combined and the tractor is sitting along a grassy drainage ditch.

I searched google maps using street view and matched it with the house in the KCCI report...hoping I'm allowed to post the address...I believe it's going to be 104 S. Elm Street, New Sharon, IA. The house is indeed just south /east of the town square which the reporter indicates during his report.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives searched a home at 104 South Elm Street in New Sharon. The search warrant was executed at around 6:45 a.m, according to the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office.

The search was related to an investigation stemming from federal firearms charges filed against James Lowe in July. Lowe was charged with possession of a National Firearms Act firearm not registered to the possessor after a vehicle he was driving was found to allegedly contain a sawed-off shotgun. The firearm discovery was made after Iowa County Sheriff’s deputies found Lowe and his vehicle in Marengo on May 29.
