It's very possible. I have a USMC t-shirt that I bought at Walmart. This might be a dumb question, but can Home Depot sell a knife with the USMC symbol on it?

Backwards wouldn't make it more comfortable. If the knife was in the sheath the handle would be pressing against your body instead of the flat back part of the sheath. JMO.comfort while driving?
I suspect he had the sheathed knife in a hoodie pouch or small backpack - maybe just tucked into the waist of his pants. I doubt he'd have it snapped onto his belt/belt loop, as he'd likely not want it to be visible. My thoughts on the sheath being left... I don't think he understood the mechanics of it. Instead of looping it through the belt then the belt loops on his pants, he probably skipped the belt and just used the snap around a belt loop, not realizing it will fall off when opened. to use the knife.
I think this crime has organized and disorganized elements to it, brought on by BK's careful planning, on the one hand, and uncontrolled rage, on the other. I talked in a couple of earlier threads about the possibility that the grading fiasco at WSU -- wherein the undergraduates whose papers he was grading were given an opportunity to publicly critique him--may have served as a trigger event that accelerated BK's originally planned timeline for the murders. So it's possible that he did intend to use another vehicle but tossed that intention in his rush to act.Any thoughts on why he used his own car on the night of the murders?
Given that many homes have cameras, using his own car seems to indicate a remarkable lack of forethought and planning. If he planned all of this carefully, I'm puzzled as to how he decided to use his own car.
Doubtful he'd want to leave anything behind that might have his DNA on it.I'm wondering if he possibly left it as a red herring. He thought the police would chase down leads with a military background and give him more time to dispose of evidence.
The location of the sheath in KG and MM's bedroom also suggests they were the first victims. My thoughts on the sheath being left... I don't think he understood the mechanics of it. Instead of looping it through the belt then the belt loops on his pants, he probably skipped the belt and just used the snap around a belt loop, not realizing it will fall off when opened. to use the knife.
He also applied for an internship with the Pullman PD. I'm not sure if this is a paid position. This possibility would also answer the question of whether he worked anywhere since moving to WA. It has not been mentioned. How did he get money? I think the only job I’ve seen referenced was at a pizza place in PA and the school on PA as security.
I hope LE finds a whole bunch of incriminating evidence to use at trial. I don't trust juries to get the correct verdict in cases with limited but convincing evidence. JMO.My guess is there will be lots of digital evidence to this crime. He has no friends except internet to talk to, brag of his intelligence. Made a to do list? Diary? Something will be found, MOO
We don't know knife matched sheath, only that it was heavy and fixed blade.Maybe there isn’t one but he bought that knife and sheath to make people think there was a military connection.
Maybe but those knives are readily available to anybody who wants them $135 I think..I'm wondering if he possibly left it as a red herring. He thought the police would chase down leads with a military background and give him more time to dispose of evidence.
Thing is that he could have done it with any bladed knife/scalpel
What's the USMC connection or is there one?
Absolutely curious, I have a new theory re why he ends up West on East Indian at 3.26. Will post it when I can. You know, maybe the circular route alibi theory would make more sense if he had had two number plates? Sure, one plate at back makes it less likely his plate no.will be identified by cameras, but also makes the car stand out if footage shows the lack of front plate. And surely if he's thinking alibi if LE get on to him, he must have known that his renewal with WA plates post 13 Nov would be easily traceable online? He'd want the cameras east of Moscow on the main drag to pick him up and the plate no. at 2.53 to 3.15 before heading rural to East Indian because phone is off. But then he'd have to be pretty certain that any residential cameras in Queen, Walenta, King and in East Moscow wouldn't pick up his plate no. even if they allowed for an id of make and model and approximate year...that might be feasible for darker residential streets I guess -but still seems risky...but he'd ALSO want to be certain that cameras would not pick up in both Queen/Walenta and his diversion along 95, the lack of front plate because that would indeed look suss to LE. How could he know this with any certainty.Okay, I see what your saying about the Johnson Rd at 5:20 now. He was southbound on 95 near Blaine at 4:48. And I agree, likely no camera footage of him after Queen St. If he did indeed scout out a route he thought was camera free, he might have done a fair job aside from the very few cameras that captured him. And you're right, the premise of this whole thing might be far-reaching. Even I'll admit that. But, like you, I'm very curious about what he was doing for that extra half-hour, and why he went east before going back west...
With trademark lic. The gov was probably paid for the copywriter, just like pro sports teams. This might be a dumb question, but can Home Depot sell a knife with the USMC symbol on it?
It's the evidence I'm actually looking at here. One thing we're told time and time again is the evidence leads us to the offender.
I was glad to see Kaylee's sister do an interview urging people not to judge her because people never know how they will react in such situations.I know we all have mixed feelings about the Daily Mail.
Today their headline article was about DM, one of the surviving roommates. They have stalked her to her parent's home and taken clandestine photos of her as she left the home to run to Starbucks.
For me, this crosses a journalistic line. She is a victim too. She has to be dealing with so much in the aftermath of the murders. IMO, she doesn't need the DM stalking her too.
I am deliberately not linking the article here.
Rant over.
JMO
We don't know at this time, all we know is single source DNA was found on the sheath. That means exactly that.I'm just exploring the sheath as 'signature' as opposed to ever having been part of the crime and wondering whether he might have been leaving a message with it?
I'm looking for connections and dates and names, trying to figure whether he had any personal connection with USMC..
It's a wild notion but feel compelled to push on ..?
I think he is sloppy and acting with emotional urgency. I think circling the property and turning his phone off precisely when he did are JV moves. I don't think leaving the sheath was a 'signature move,' as a couple of others have suggested. I think he was running on adrenalin and in kill mode. He could even have been disassociating. The officer's description of the scene he came upon sounds as if it was swift and frenzied. God, those poor, poor kids.I considered that, too. I've tried looking at the crime both from a very crafty perspective and a sloppy perspective. Crafty would be getting gig work to explain the frequent presence of his car in the area. Crafty would be intentionally leaving a KABAR sheath but actually using an entirely different knife. Crafty would be going to the first floor to open the front door and leave it open to misdirect how he entered the house. Etc, etc. Deliberate distraction tactics. Going down to the first floor to open/stage the front door would also have put him on the stairs near X's room, which is speculatively why he ran into her.
I haven't yet decided which he is - crafty or sloppy. My opinions only.

I agree. Those pictures are heartbreaking and I wish they hadn’t been printed. I believe in the goodness of people until I’m proven wrong, and I don’t think BK’s father was anything but an innocent victim in this as well as the 4 students and their friends and families.I agree, and what a great dad. I wish I had a father that would fly clear across the country to ride with me clear back across the country to spend the holidays together.
My heart aches for those parents, and I wish I could help him clean up.
