But I can’t resolve him being a bright, very intelligent teen according to friends, soon to be considered brilliant by a professor, but only went to high school part time while enrolled in a HVAC Vocational Training program instead of college prep coursework, as far as I understand.
Im sure this means nothing but just an observation, BCK was an HVAC trainee in High School and we all were curious why only a couple of days after the murders there was a the was an HVAC repair truck at victime house.
Ethan Chapin's mother posted a touching tribute to her son on Facebook on Wednesday.

Stacy Chapin described her son as loyal, carefree and "just the best person you could ever meet" in a post on Facebook.

She also said that two vehicles, Ethan's belongings and a set of golf clubs were "now frozen with the defense."
When did Mrs Chapin make this post? I know some of the other vehicles were released back to families fairly soon after Nov 13th. Are the police still holding E's Jeep and why?

When police reported to the home prior to the murders on a distrubance call, there was a period where they were waiting for one of the residents to come to the door, police canvas the house while they wait. Start looking at the video below at 33:35. Police bodycam picks up a set of golf clubs through the curtains in the 1st floor spare room to the right of front door. These could be Ethan's IMO

I remember this too.

Who then owned it for a time, conveyed it to the apartment and murdered 4 people without adding any of his own DNA to it, while miraculously leaving mine intact? I don't think so.
Well, actually, they haven't said they didn't find anyone else's DNA on it. They only said they found his DNA on it. Right after the murders, they became fixated on the Elantra and this DNA tied him and his white Elantra to the scene. This could be one of the holes for the defense unless there is his blood DNA found throughout the rest of the scene and only his, besides those of the victims.

Post was yesterday.

Not sure why. They are also holding the car for one of the triplets. Defense froze evidence so that may be why, but it’s odd if some of the other cars had already been taken.

Yes I agree to a certain extent and I believe they probably have a lot more evidence that they are keeping close to their chest. But I think the defence will be able to come up with alternative reasons for DNA being on the sheath, BK being in the area (does he have friends nearby - they would need to confirm obviously), did he frequent Moscow city centre often and maybe that would be his route back home of an evening. I’m not saying he is innocent but I still think there needs to be a lot more on the prosecution side (which there no doubt is). IMO.
The defense can and will try all they want, but the jury is going to come back with "Guilty" verdicts. BK is going to have a date with the electric chair, and richly deserved! IMO

There is no mention in the affidavit of where E's body is. We also don't know the history behind the 911 phone call.

But we do know to lay off DM. She hasn't been named as a suspect and is considered a victim here.
I had mistakenly thought the affidavit said that E was found in the bed in X's room, but you are correct in saying that wasn't specified. The affidavit did say that E was "also" found in X's bedroom. Where in the bedroom is not detailed.

Stalking is the hunting of humans. It is an extremely deviant behavior. It is not normal and you cannot find a reason or provocation that justifies hunting human beings. Bullied, not bullied. Does not matter. Hunting and slaughtering humans is not justified or explained with any rational explanation. I would guess brain differences have to exist, but, when an individual knows right from wrong (i.e., turning off the cellphone, hiding covertly, going in the house in black at night), that individual made a conscious choice to slaughter innocent lives. Whether they were happy or popular or whatever, they were young adults at school trying to create a future, butchered in the prime of their lives. Ironically, even their grieving families would not, after learning of the slaughter of their son and daughters would not be legally justified in taking the same revenge. They will be reduced to a legal process that will never feel like justice.

I share this because my family was stalked by two individuals for two years that we thought were going to kill us. The provocation? They willingly relinquished rights to a special needs child who became our daughter. She was terrified of them. She vomited every time she saw them. She was three years old when we met her and five when she was adopted. This is how we started our trauma journey and my field in abuse now. These two individuals did NOT want her back. Our daughter reported abuse in their home on several occasions to counselors. We were absolutely stuck. My husband and I had three other young children at the time. These two grown adults, moved from over 1000 miles away. They went to my children's school to scare them. One applied for a job as a janitor to stalk my children. They went to my husband's work. They drove by our home repeatedly, terrifying our children. The sheriff's officer had a deputy assigned to drive by our country home (17 minutes for 911) to make sure we were alive. I cannot begin to express the horror. My oldest child, still young, dropped out of elementary school with repeated panic attacks. If he left home, they would go to his school (shared by all four kids). He did not trust the school could protect him like his mom would. He went into a very severe panic and anxiety overload. There were pictures of the stalkers at the elementary school and anywhere else we were. The university I taught for posted an armed security guard by my college class so I could continue to teach. One day, I was at church, without my husband, I got out of my car with four small children. As I went to go in, with children in tow, the man, well over 6 foot tall came to me. I froze. What could I do? If I ran, my children could not keep up. I would never leave them. I could not fight him. I had no time to call 911. Fortunately, I ran into the church, interrupting the meeting, and church members called 911 and different families took each of my children to separate places to hide them. When the officers came, the two individuals presented a poem on death and a child screaming from a coffin.

We had twelve restraining orders - one against each individual for six members of our family. They were jailed and continued. We had no way out. We could not "give back" our daughter to such abuse and terror and would not consider it. We could not protect our three young children. Every time we slept, we knew we were vulnerable. Our children were vulnerable. I read Gavin de Becker's Gift of Fear and contacted their agency for help. I was forced to learn methods to protect my children and family and became proficient. As an attorney, testifying at the trial was still one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. They were the hunters. We were their prey. At that trial, I summoned all my courage, after two years of intense stalking, looked them in the eye and said, "Normal people do not hunt other people, especially children." When I was done testifying, I collapsed sobbing into the arms of the victim advocate.

This is a hard story for me to share. Years later, the male turned up at an event I was speaking at on trauma and abuse to sit and stare at me as I was running a conference on abuse. He had free frequent flier miles and could be anywhere he knew I would be. Did they know what they were doing? Yes. Had they been bullied? I don't care. Were they mentally ill? Maybe, but they were fully aware of every action they took and nothing, besides a conviction and jail time would stop them. Even that, did not stop him from showing up years later. My daughter has never been in a year book. I do not share information on her on facebook. We keep her hidden because we do not know what they want with her. She is now the same age as the victims. Maybe that is why this resonates so strongly for me. Normal humans do not hunt humans. As terrified as we were, we knew we were being stalked. These young adults in Idaho did not get that blessing. They were sleeping. They had done nothing that could ever justify the horror they endured and, for what? There is no reason. When we can clearly tell that this was a premeditated attack on innocent human life, there is no sadness for the hunter and there is no justification that even merits consideration. They deserved to live. And, even if the killer didn't think so, they deserved a fair fight. This was not fair in any sense of the word. To hunt the sleeping in their own home at the darkest hour of night is cowardly, deviant and there will never be a reason that merits justification or explanation, especially when it is clear the killer was aware that the actions were wrong. It was a choice. It was a thrill. It was a crime against all of society. There is a price to be paid when humans deviate to the thrill of hunting other humans. Thanks for letting me share my story. To this day, it is still difficult to tell.

I always understood it very differently, that we couldn't even divulge if a patient was at our facility unless we had their permission. But If you have a degree in HIM, as an RN I would be going to you for advice, so I defer to you.
It may be different, at certain offices, such as, say, a Behavioral Health office.
And I may be a bit out of the loop, I've been retired now for a while.

Edited to add: I do recall, if we had someone who was an inpatient, regarding whether or not they were at that facility, I wonder if that may be the hospital's protocol, to state whether or not they were a patient. Since you can call and speak to friends who are in the hospital.

Burglary is only burglary if someone entered the house with an intent to commit a felony. If they can't prove murder (not say they can't, just IF), and the door was unlocked or open, no burglary unless they can prove he intended to commit a felony. That is the only case where the doors being unsecured matter that I can think of.

The door being secured or unsecured has no bearing if entry into a residence is unlawful. It would be burglary if you can prove intent to commit a felony or theft, if none of those are proven it would drop down to something such as trespassing.

I think you are on to something
My heart sank when I read this. I hadn't even considered that the defense might do this. IMO, I don't think it would cause reasonable doubt, but it would just be awfully sickening if they tried this. The lowest of lows.

The affidavit said that "a single source of male DNA" was found on the sheath. So, that would appear to indicate that no other males' DNA was found on the sheath. I expect there is other DNA on the sheath, though, namely that of the victims found in the bed with the sheath.

But disclosing a patients name and the fact that they are a patient is protected. And disclosure to a newspaper, unlike calling out a persona nane for the purpose of summoning them in a waiting room, is not a permissible use under HIPPA.
They can confirm if patient is there. Quote: "What HIPAA says: Location and general health status (i.e., directory information) can be disclosed if the requester identifies the patient by name unless the patient has objected to such disclosures.".

Think about it, sort of like, when you call to talk to a friend in the hospital, the hospital operator puts you through. The hospital just cannot give out patient's condition, medical info. Behavioral Health tho is a different matter.

Holy hell, so sorry this happened to you. I've read many similar stories from domestic abuse victims and I completely understand why some feel their only choice is to put a bullet in their stalker and then do the time in prison, because then at least it will be over when they get out.

I bet, BK defense attorneys are going to try to create reasonable doubt and say that Ethan and/or his brother could have committed the crime, as a reason for thr vehicles being there. And that would be absolutely awful and disrespectful.
So, Ethan committed suicide after murdering the other three??!! You think BK's attorneys are gonna make that pitch??!! Come on, now.

I have tears just hearing the empathy in your post. Thank you. I have never really told this story in public because it is still so hard. But, I felt like I had to share what it is actually like to be hunted by a stalker. Thank you.
