Cold case: Man pleads not guilty in murder and rape of 9-year-old girl in 1982

Daralyn Johnson was found dead in 1982. David Dalrymple was charged, nearly 40 years later, with her rape and murder.

Nearly 40 years later in 2020, DNA evidence linked a 64-year-old man, David Dalrymple, to the rape and murder of Johnson, authorities said. Dalrymple was charged with first-degree murder and rape.
Dalrymple pleaded not guilty to all charges on Thursday. His trial, according to Canyon County Judge Thomas Whitney, will last four weeks long next year, beginning on March 13.
The State of Idaho is not seeking the death penalty in this case, but Dalrymple could face up to life in prison if convicted and a $50,000 for both counts of rape and murder.
Authorities also believe Dalrymple is responsible for the molestation of other young girls.
"During our investigation, the Canyon County Sheriff's Office have located two other victims of similar age to Daralyn, who never reported to law enforcement to being sexually abused by David Dalrymple," Sheriff Donahue said in aa 2020 press conference. "We are asking the public, we are imploring the public if you have any information on those cases or on this current case to please come forward and contact my office, or as Brian said, the Crime Stoppers."
Dalrymple is currently serving 20 years to life in prison for lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor under 16. He was also convicted of kidnapping, sexual abuse of a minor and second degree of kidnapping.
Dalrymple's preliminary hearing will take place Feb. 6 at 2:30 p.m. at the Canyon County Courthouse.

Johnson sustained blunt force trauma to the head & torso, but ultimately died from drowning) - *David Allen Dalrymple (24 @ time of crime/62/now 64) charged (5/4/20) & formally charged & re-arraigned (10/27/22) with felony 1st degree murder & felony rape. Plead not guilty. No bond. DA will not seek DP.
Trial set to begin on 3/13/22. (3/14, 3/15, 3/17, 3/20, 3/21, 3/22, 3/24, 3/27, 3/28, 3/29, 3/31, 4/3, 4/4, 4/5 & 4/7) all @ 8:30am.

Order: for preliminary hearing transcript-granted. Next status conference hearing on 1/9/23 @ 2:30pm, pretrial hearing on 2/6/23 @ 2:30pm & trial set to begin on 3/13-15, 3/17, 3/20-22, 3/24, 3/27-29, 3/31, 4/3-5 & 4/7/23 all @ 8:30am.
 
@ReadySet - I have a pretrial hearing on 2/6/23 next scheduled. Just checking to make sure this is still a go? And then trial starting on 3/13/23.

Thank you the info @ReadySet ! You got me - I have no idea what that means. But if you noticed nothing is happening until 2024.... A whole year until he has his next hearing date!!

But I googled it - and this came up:

Dismiss Court Appointed Counsel And To Proceed In Pro Se; And Motion To ... defendant's pro se motion which seeks to rescind the plea agreement is stricken.

Now guessing - he was probably going to represent himself & decided against it - ??

Do you think it MIGHT be a typo by the person who typed that in the court site? Maybe check in a week - to see it stays the same or someone changes it to 2023?
 
I think because he asked for new attorney, that's why the trial is now set for 2024. Not a typo. @Niner
