The PI might have said that so it is understood just how thorough ALL the POI are being looked at, even a 76 year old man. That's my take anyway.

I like your take and I agree that this is where it came from.
Still though, of all things to mention ...an axe and coveralls. In and of themselves, they don't suggest anything suspicious for a camper to have along on a camping trip. At THIS point in talking about THIS camping trip though ... The Social Media piranhas can have all kinds of fun with that. Why not talk about how the FBI took a cooler or a pillow or a tent or the monkey and cup and blankie?
Again though, I agree with you ILOKAL.

I'd like to know where the idea for a re-enactment originated, which might help me understand the purpose of it. If this was instigated by the Sheriff, for example, that means something different to me than if it was suggested by the parents. If the FBI is behind it, that means something different to me than if the PI came up with it. If is is driven by some form of LE, I do wonder if the PI "high jacked" ownership of the idea and dropped it to the media to get ahead of any social media activity on it. None of this matters a bunch; just things I think about. If it is LE driven, I wonder if it is a call to action for everyone to be accountable for their verbal descriptions of their location/activity on the awful day of the disappearance. Doing a live action-walk-through makes a ton of sense to me - if LE is driving it. Any gaps that appear in the adults' lines of vision for one example, could lead to new ideas of an explanation of DeOrr's absence, or of new search directions.
Yup, I'm babbling now. MOO
Just a thought. I was thinking maybe they've ran out of ideas and someone suggested to go back to square one. Or I'm sure they've told their story so many times they were just like lets reenact it so people have a better understanding.
Idk to me personally it sounded like a desperate idea to figure out what happend and others jumped on board.

What about the reward money? Vilt is offering $10,000, is that from his own pocket? Is that typical, or doesn't LE / FBI usually offer that?

There is nothing odd about that statement at all. I have a two year old right now and I'd think the same thing. Not because I planned on leaving my child alone but because I'd like to sit down at some point and not have to run after my two year old everytime he took an extra step to the right. Seriously these two year olds don't stop moving and if an area is not inclosed your gonna not even be able to enjoy your time there at all. DeOrr also says it was an enclosed area and you could see him. I think that was his point to all most everything he was trying to say.

The part that was odd to me was that they chose to camp out so close to a creek. If a wandering child is your main concern you do not camp near water.

And where was this axe and overalls when the FBI seized them? The FBI didn't come on board for a month after little Deorr disappeared. Or had they previously been seized by local LE?
I guess we now know some of the items that were given to the FBI for analysis!

Just an aside, I have no thoughts on GGP at all either way, but its troubling to me how so many folks want to give him a free pass just because of age and health. In my family was a 73 year old beloved grandfather in declining health who was found to be actively molesting his grandsons. Again, I have no thoughts on GGP, but dismissing anyone just based on age and some health issues makes me uneasy. Healthy enough to go camping. JMO, MOO Please don't shoot me.

Its easy to forget when your with your child everyday in the safety of your own home just how hard they really are. At home gates are up, you've got movies, baths, and all kinds of things to form a routine as well as having the place on lock down.
We also need to remember that DeOrr is an over the road truck driver. My son's father is actually an over the road truck driver as well. They don't have any idea what its actually like being a full time single mom when they are gone. Truckers are home maybe once a week for a few days if that. And in my case my little boy is great for him and easy cause he's excited to have daddy home. DeOrr imo probably had no idea how capable his little guy was of taking off. He doesn't get to see the fits and battles at bed time or the potty training or the mad dashes they try to make. Its my biggest frustration with my son's father.
But I'd be protesting a camping trip personality. It wouldn't be fun at all with a two year old. It would be 24/7 chasing and being worried. But I bet she (mom) was easily talked into it. Considering the fact that dad is home so its not going to be 100% of her having to chase him.
And idk when DeOrr got off the road and came home in the first place. But truckers usually do not get a lot of time off between loads. If he'd just got off the road after being gone a week or two and they packed up and went to the camp site which could explain a lot about ariving the night before then it makes a lot of sense to me that they would sneak off togeather for about 15-20 min

Just wanted to add what I forgot what I wanted to say befor I started rambling on. I agree with you that its still most likely little DeOrr wondered off and something happend. For me I've always believed it was an animal of some kind. Prob a mountain lion or something. I did some reading up on cyotes, mountain lions, ect and found that they go after smaller targets. Sadly little DeOrr would be a purfect and helpless catch. I was reading a list of victims of cyotes and sadly they always seem to attack toddlers. And more offten then we think because a lot of the attacks where right in the child's front yard while playing and an adult intervened and they survived.

DK stopped driving long haul in March, so he would have been home more often since then. (I will look for the link.) Even so, the parent who isn't home full-time, or primary care giver, usually has no idea how capable, energetic and slippery their toddler is. Especially when they arrive home to a fed, bathed, pajama-clad little one, ready for story time and bed. I think it's hard to explain to someone who has never been solely responsible for a two year-old just how mentally and physically exhausting it is.

This isn't JM's first rodeo, so I think she would know the challenges of caring for a two year-old away from familiar surroundings. But DK could be much less aware of the perils that we moms see lurking around every corner! Most of these nightmares never happen, but I think that's because we mothers are cognizant of how vulnerable our babies are in the world and we do everything we can to prevent disasters, big and small. Most dads seem to worry less.

I would be surprised if a coyote grabbed him. They are noisy hunters and tend to crow about their "prizes". It's possible DeOrr drowned and was later dragged off by a coyote, but I'd think SAR would have found some evidence. Maybe not since the area was so over-run with volunteers within the first few days. I think a mountain lion attack is more likely than DeOrr being abducted from the camp site. JMO.

I don't see anything on their website. Probably a repeat of today's story.

100% agree

Am sorry there is no news on the re-enactment.

God Bless the family. They are in living He** on Earth.

I think it is coming from the PI. Neither the FBI nor sheriff would stage an reenactment to prove the parents had no involvement. They are just looking for evidence of the truth--whatever it is.
If either entities are having family members come back up to the campsite to make sure stories match orig statements, etc., I don't think they would appreciate the PI exposing that event.

BBM: I agree. In addition, if the FBI or LE was planning to do a re-enactment, they absolutely would not tell the public and announce it on the local news.

For wanting to draw attention away from themselves, they (the family) sure make some strange moves.

Maybe it's money collected by the crowd-funding sites? The reward is for information leading to DeOrr. Are there any other details? Does he mean the return of DeOrr alive, or if someone finds his body? I wonder if this information has been conveyed to NCMEC.

I think the statement that those two items were seized was the P.I.'s way of trying to paint a picture of GGP in coveralls with an axe. (The insinuations are nasty.) I assume there were more things seized from the site. A camping stove, blankets, marshmallow skewers, a tea pot? I think, for some reason, if it were DeOrr Sr's axe and coveralls, some might be outraged by the statement, but because it's an old man we have never seen on camera, it's fine to paint that picture?

11 minutes ago there was an announcement that they would talk with a witness. Checking the website now

ETA: can't find anything related to this yet.

A witness describes who she thinks.might have something to do with a toddler's disappearance from a campground. More tonight.

Does anyone know what "Failed AV" stands for on the Idaho SOR (for a local RSO who is listed as "non-compliant" as of today)?
