As was Ann Rule at first, IIRC; and she was a trained LEO.

Sorry deleted probably not allowed ..Gosh, now I wish I could remember better but didn't we read somewhere it was suspected CD and LV were knowing each other well before their first podcast? I've searched and searched, I remember the line being " . . . leading us to believe they were involved with each other as early as 2012? aybe 2016?".....It's out there, I know it.
100% agree
I think you can see dear Chad's natural reaction is to be open / conversational - which places him at a big disadvantage with an aggressive journalist because his oral skills are just not up to the situation.
He appears apologetic, lacks any assertiveness in his statements.

No .. I was comparing career choices and accomplishments.i dunno... i just think Marcus' approach was much more non-threatening. As much as we/I absolutely love what Nate is doing... I would open my mouth to Marcus before Nate!!!
I am trained is ACES and provide trainings. No one is saying that all people with trauma in their childhood or high scores (like you and me) will become a serial killer. What is true is that trauma can have a large impact on developing mental illness. And it is true that a majority of persons with sociopathy experienced childhood trauma. Again, there is nothign indicating that everyone with trauma is going to become a killer. But it is true to state that most killers have experienced childhood trauma. These are two different things. My best to you. I am also a survivor.
Right. Everyone in Bundy's Mormon ward in Salt Lake were convinced it was a big mistake.
MOO
I agree. It also signals to me the first signs of breaking ranks with Lori. It feels like a betrayal if I go with my feelings to explain it, trying out a different behavior now she is in jail and he is not. It smacks of an emerging victim mentality.Couple of reactions to this
1. I think the handshake is an attempt to end the interview. He does the same thing with part opening the car door (barrier/exit). He is trying to exit an uncomfortable situation, but lacks the assertiveness just to say so
2. He appears to lack confidence. Doesn't speak clearly. Not assertive.
Apart from the bizarreness of the failure to answer re the kids, I get the impression of someone way out of his depth.

Here is the initial motion filed by Lori Vallow’s defense. Craig De Costa claims $5M bond is excessive and cited 8th Amendment. Goes onto say bail should have been $10K “cash only.” Hearing is set for 2PM HST tomorrow. #fox10phoenix

Does anyone else find it a tad unprofessional that Lori's lawyer uses her first name throughout the bail reduction request?
I mean I have been using Lori in the timeline because she has had so many last names it's impossible to keep everything straight otherwise...but a court document for a serious legal matter seems like it should be more formal. Is it really so hard for Lori to tell her lawyer her preferred/current surname and title (Ms/Mrs)? Or is there some hidden strategy in this? Do they actually plan to contest her identity?
MOO.

So Chad is basically wasting money on an expensive Hawaiian lawyer. MOO

That disorder sounds spot on. This interview with Cheryl, Charles Vallow's former wife, paints a picture of a noticeably troubled Lori:
Charles Vallow's ex-wife had concerns about Lori Daybell over 10 years ago and thinks his shooting death was '100% planned' | East Idaho News
“She just seemed off. There were a lot of strange goings-on at their home to the point that a judge ordered cameras to be put in their home to protect the children,” Cheryl recalls.
Nothing suspicious or criminal was ever found on the video footage, Cheryl said, but she said something wasn’t right with Lori. During child custody hearings, Cheryl says Lori seemed to enjoy being in court and “all the drama” surrounding it.
“Lori was also in a custody battle with Joseph Ryan, and it was so intertwined that the judge combined our cases altogether in the courtroom,” Cheryl recalls. “It was quite odd, but she loved it. That’s when I learned she doesn’t do what she’s told to do if she doesn’t want to. I saw that a lot in court.”
