As was Ann Rule at first, IIRC; and she was a trained LEO.

She was in Washington, I think. I'm talking about in Utah after he got arrested there. (I don't think Ann Rule is Mormon, but it seems like she knew him through work or living in the same neighborhood or something. Been a lot of years since I read her book about it.)

HEARING: DPS in Hawaii says Lori Vallow is still scheduled to appear in court at 2PM HST to try to get her $5M bond reduced. Has no scheduled visits today. Idaho Governor’s office says extradition request still has not come in. #fox10phoenix

So does the bolded part mean that Madison County still hasn't done their first step? I guess this is why the prosecutor in Hawaii didn't want to be committed to having the next hearing too soon. :)

MOO

Gosh, now I wish I could remember better but didn't we read somewhere it was suspected CD and LV were knowing each other well before their first podcast? I've searched and searched, I remember the line being " . . . leading us to believe they were involved with each other as early as 2012? aybe 2016?".....It's out there, I know it.
Sorry deleted probably not allowed ..

100% agree

I think you can see dear Chad's natural reaction is to be open / conversational - which places him at a big disadvantage with an aggressive journalist because his oral skills are just not up to the situation.

He appears apologetic, lacks any assertiveness in his statements.

This is a man in deep *advertiser censored*

Not everyone is as pliable as Lori and his forum mates. He's spent a good portion of his adult life in a community bubble of his own making. Definitely out of his comfort zone.

Jumping on here late.. and still trying to catch up on all of these threads, wow, what a tangled web..... Anyway I had a few thoughts which may be useful in tracking down the children... although sadly I believe they are deceased (I hope I'm wrong).

I think Speech Analysis on the major players when/if any of them actually do decide to talk could help, there is a man who trains LE in this and he's really amazing when he gets footage or transcripts (he has a website and some videos on YT), he's helped find missing children before both alive and dead... Melanie seemed to hint at having seen these kids either shortly after or while they were being murdered. "The light going dark" comment about children in the divorce filing. More Analysis could help find the remains.

I also think their typical MO based on their past victims didn't involve disposing of the bodies, ie "heart attacks/ self defense" meaning they may be less sophisticated in destroying all evidence, and may choose a place they are comfortable with/ know well. If this happened near Melanie she may hold the clue to where the bodies are, and I don't remember her being in Yellowstone but rather Idaho?! LE should take a look at Island Point area in Idaho.... Chad says "God" spoke to him there... It's nearby, and he knows this area well. Maybe check near his former rentals. I hope I'm wrong and they are alive somewhere, but... It doesn't look good.

Lastly, I'm not convinced this is a "religious" thing, I believe Lori and Chad are sociopaths, the way both of them reacted (Lori with police after the shooting of Charles and Chads quicky remarriage after death of his wife). They wanted a fresh start with no burdens, and lots of money.... Greed and sociopathy. Very scary!

Anyway this is just my 2 cents, but I hope it's helpful in some way, and I hope I'm not being redundant as I haven't read all the replies yet. The most important thing I believe is finding the kids and some small closure or at least answers for their loved ones!
MOO!

i dunno... i just think Marcus' approach was much more non-threatening. As much as we/I absolutely love what Nate is doing... I would open my mouth to Marcus before Nate!!!
No .. I was comparing career choices and accomplishments.

I am trained is ACES and provide trainings. No one is saying that all people with trauma in their childhood or high scores (like you and me) will become a serial killer. What is true is that trauma can have a large impact on developing mental illness. And it is true that a majority of persons with sociopathy experienced childhood trauma. Again, there is nothign indicating that everyone with trauma is going to become a killer. But it is true to state that most killers have experienced childhood trauma. These are two different things. My best to you. I am also a survivor.

The company I work for trains us all on ACEs as we serve a demographic where they are prevalent.

I do agree with you on all of that. I apologise if I came off too strongly. From my reading, of the initial post it seemed easy to misunderstand ACEs as something that is intended to predict violent, maladaptive adult behavior.

Right. Everyone in Bundy's Mormon ward in Salt Lake were convinced it was a big mistake.

MOO

It can't have been quite everyone, because he joined the church, was arrested, convicted and excommunicated, all within about 6 or 8 months. So, somebody in his ward believed (knew) he was a bad, bad dude. I was a young student in Utah and didn't know anyone that was attached to his innocence or to anything else about him. I just don't think his entire ward failed to receive the memo that he was a terrifying person. :::::shivers::::

Couple of reactions to this

1. I think the handshake is an attempt to end the interview. He does the same thing with part opening the car door (barrier/exit). He is trying to exit an uncomfortable situation, but lacks the assertiveness just to say so

2. He appears to lack confidence. Doesn't speak clearly. Not assertive.

Apart from the bizarreness of the failure to answer re the kids, I get the impression of someone way out of his depth.
I agree. It also signals to me the first signs of breaking ranks with Lori. It feels like a betrayal if I go with my feelings to explain it, trying out a different behavior now she is in jail and he is not. It smacks of an emerging victim mentality.

So do we think she will be in her jailhouse orange jumpsuit? Or will they allow her to change into her civilian clothes for court?

Here is the initial motion filed by Lori Vallow’s defense. Craig De Costa claims $5M bond is excessive and cited 8th Amendment. Goes onto say bail should have been $10K “cash only.” Hearing is set for 2PM HST tomorrow. #fox10phoenix

Does anyone else find it a tad unprofessional that Lori's lawyer uses her first name throughout the bail reduction request?

I mean I have been using Lori in the timeline because she has had so many last names it's impossible to keep everything straight otherwise...but a court document for a serious legal matter seems like it should be more formal. Is it really so hard for Lori to tell her lawyer her preferred/current surname and title (Ms/Mrs)? Or is there some hidden strategy in this? Do they actually plan to contest her identity? :rolleyes:o_O
MOO.

Snipped and BBM: Yes, totally unprofessional in a court of law. You should always use Mr., Mrs. or Miss IMO.

BUT on the other hand, I think her attorney used her first name, instead of one of her many last names, because he may NOT have known what surname to use in court.

IIRC, the Idaho Warrant had the name "Lori Vallow" - and please correct me if I am wrong.

Then, it is found out that she is "married" to CD and using the name "Lori Daybell" … BUT … were Chad and Lori married legally in Hawaii (marriage license) or was it one of those ceremonies or whatever it is called ?

Just my two cents but I think her attorney called her Lori because he may not have known what her CURRENT LEGAL NAME was at the time of the hearing because the Warrant had one surname and Lori was using another surname.

Oh … and I am NOT defending her defense attorney … just saying when you get a client like Lori Vallow, or Lori Daybell, or Lori "Moroni," and claiming to be a "goddess" it's probably best he stick to her first name.

I mean seriously, it would look bad if you are her attorney and had not done sufficient research to know what your client's current legal, real name was and/or is, and you used the wrong name in court. Stick to what you know, I guess.

All JMO and MOO !

Every time I see CD he has the “why did I ever get into this” look on his face. MOO

So Chad is basically wasting money on an expensive Hawaiian lawyer. MOO

I was thinking it was a genius move locking up Lori while Chad is left free.... It's a good play on his psychology since even if (and I believe he is) a sociopath, this will be a 'test' of his masculinity.... He has that arrogant "need to protect the fragile little lady" or at least appear to, and be the fixer of all their "problems".. yet there is nothing he can do about her sitting in jail. So he appears both powerless and weak and Lori is prob resentful that 'it's just her' while he can go out for latte's and get a tan... He knows it would look awful even to his supporters if he just flee's, so what are his options.....

I could see him almost confessing in part, so he gets arrested for something just to have an excuse of why he isn't able to help her.... OR

Will he take the cowardly way out and off himself?? I don't believe even his kids would have an impact on stopping him from doing this!

Lori will likely keep playing the victim, but I think Chad is less predictable. MOO.

I find it interesting that CD has not been visiting her in jail daily and I think the first and only time was yesterday.

That disorder sounds spot on. This interview with Cheryl, Charles Vallow's former wife, paints a picture of a noticeably troubled Lori:

Charles Vallow's ex-wife had concerns about Lori Daybell over 10 years ago and thinks his shooting death was '100% planned' | East Idaho News

“She just seemed off. There were a lot of strange goings-on at their home to the point that a judge ordered cameras to be put in their home to protect the children,” Cheryl recalls.

Nothing suspicious or criminal was ever found on the video footage, Cheryl said, but she said something wasn’t right with Lori. During child custody hearings, Cheryl says Lori seemed to enjoy being in court and “all the drama” surrounding it.

“Lori was also in a custody battle with Joseph Ryan, and it was so intertwined that the judge combined our cases altogether in the courtroom,” Cheryl recalls. “It was quite odd, but she loved it. That’s when I learned she doesn’t do what she’s told to do if she doesn’t want to. I saw that a lot in court.”

None of us should forget that Lori has been Lori for a long time. She just finally got too big for her britches.
