Schiess father and daughter have DNA on file.

Hill father and son do not have DNA on file.

Were they married? Separated? Other children?

Wave Swamps Boat, 2 Men, 2 Children Feared Drowned IDAHO FALLS
(AP) -
Two men and two of their children were missing and presumed drowned after a wave swamped a heavily laden boat in Palisades Reservoir. Eight persons were aboard the 16-foot boat, with only one life jacket among them, when it was swamped Saturday about 100 yards from shore, according to Bonneville County Sheriff Blaine Skinner. Other boaters saw the accident and picked up four survivors, but the other four were missing, officials said. Missing were Laddie Schiess. 38. and his daughter, Toni, 10, both of Victor; and Larry Hill, 38, and his son Jimmy, 7, both of Boise...

For some reason Rex Dean Hill was reported as "Jimmy" at the time and is also named as Jim in the Sciess' NAMUS files. Maybe his name was Rex but he went by Jimmy? Or perhaps the news reported the wrong child missing (his age also varies from 6 to 7).

I noticed that too... hmmm

PS - Great job on all your posts today in 1980s missing thread! :)

HISTORY

“On Memorial Day, 1980, Mr. Peter Bates and his son, Mr. Laddie Schiess and two of his children, and three other individuals went fishing on Palisades Reservoir in eastern Idaho. The weather on that date was occasionally rainy and windy. The group used a boat owned and operated by Mr. Schiess. When the group was traveling back to the dock from where they had been fishing, a sudden storm arose which capsized the boat. All eight people were thrown into the reservoir's icy water. Holding onto the boat, Mr. Bates was able to reach and retrieve three persons: his own son, one of Mr. Schiess' children, and another boy. Tragically, the four other individuals, unable to reach the boat, drowned.”
