Funeral held for Maywood toddler found dead in river

Nearly five months after he was beaten to death and dumped into the Des Plaines River, a funeral was held Friday for 1-year-old Bryeon Hunter.

Bryeon's mother, Lakeshia Baker, 22, told investigators that she and her boyfriend, Michael Scott, beat her son with a belt and plastic clothes hangers April 15 before leaving him to die on the bathroom floor of their Maywood apartment, prosecutors have said.

Initially, Baker had claimed that Bryeon had been kidnapped by three men, resulting in an Amber Alert being issued by police, but Baker and Scott's story unraveled as they were interviewed by police over subsequent days, and they were charged with his murder the same week.

It is sad to see the increasing numbers of deceased toddlers and babies.

Advenure of the day is throwing a soft baby baseball to another little angel.
He could have been a future pro baseball player. His chance in life taken away by those who were supposed to love him and take care of him. :stormingmad:

And why am I rehashing this ? I can't answer. I love this little boy and the lost, dull, joyless look on his face tells the whole story

I will pray LE , DA and the jury in his case have the wisdom and evidence to lock up the evil. I will even pray that the evil have a reckoning with what they've done and feel true remorse and sorrow for his little life . Then I will pray that the horror of their deeds never give them a moment of sleep again ! AMEN!

When you compare the photo where he is grinning away, a big beaming smile, to the one where he looks confused and worried. Oh my heart breaks for him, truly it does.

I have read through tons of threads here on WS, involving all types of horror and abuse. I have been moved and heartbroken. Oftentimes, even shocked. But post after post after post by Schmae near the end of this thread of all the littles had me wrecked.

And the strength of Mr. Larson to keep searching even though he knew the condition of remains would no longer be sweet, baby soft skin. I could not do it, so thankfully he could.

Any word of a trial date or hearings? I think I'll look that up if no one knows off hand.

Yes, this case is one I cannot shake either. I have not seen any word on the status of his murderers. ( I cannot call her a mother ).
I am grateful there are people like Mr. Larson out there bringing some peace to those who cared about this little sweet man. I often think of Bryeon and wish he could have known more love and joy in his short time.
