look at post #62, it tells he is last seen at a food mart, which is 2h from where the phone pinged at Centralia. The question is where is this food mart located?

It seems as though there may have been some errors or confusion in reporting, imo. At a minimum it would be helpful if the title reflected both Jerseyville and Centralia. That could prove helpful if ever unidentified remains are found near either location. Ty for looking into this, @Darling136!

Centralia, IL is in Clinton County which is approx 1 hr. 45 minutes from Jerseyville, IL, where Jared lived. Witnesses reported seeing Jared in the Centralia area. Police suspect his truck was out of gas and he was looking for help. His truck was located abandoned near Centralia on Joliff Bridge Road which is all in Clinton County. Confirmed cellphone records show he was in East Alton, IL then later somewhere near Centralia when he made a call to the mother of his daughters. Also, multiple searches have focused on the Centralia/Clinton County area. Here are a few snippets from dated and recent articles printed by both main stream and local media outlets as well as quotes from messages in this thread. His 1990 GMC Sierra truck was found abandoned and out of gas parked on Joliff Bridge Road, an isolated area more than 70 miles from his home. Two witnesses reported seeing him in the area. One told authorities they believe it was Jared who knocked on their door around 8:30 a.m. asking for directions to a nearby town.

On July 2, 2011, Jared was sitting on his couch when his sister left the house. At approximately 11:45 a.m., he was seen on the surveillance camera of a gas station in Jerseyville, buying a soda.

At 12:15 p.m., his cellphone confirms that he was in the East Alton area. The cellphone did not register again until about 9:30 p.m., when it pinged off a Centralia, Ill., tower as he called the mother of his two daughters.

He was driving on Jolliff Bridge Road, about three miles from Centralia, when he ran out of gas. Rumors have floated around that he had asked an older couple for a glass of water and directions to the nearest gas station late that evening, but they were never confirmed and brought about no further leads.

Law enforcement authorities and relatives are looking for clues to the whereabouts of a 28-year-old Jerseyville man missing since Saturday night.

Jared Hanna was seen at two Alton bars Saturday night and next seen around midnight walking along Jolliff Bridge Road in Clinton County, about three miles north of Centralia and about 60 miles east of Alton.

The Clinton County Sheriff's Department plans a new search for a missing Jerseyville man after new evidence was found this week.

Chief Deputy Mark Etter says personal items belonging to 28-year-old Jared Hanna were discovered along Crooked Creek southwest of the Jolliff Bridge Road north of West McCord Street on the northwest side of Centralia. He reports the items were reported to the sheriff's department on Monday and later confirmed as belonging to Hanna by family members.

Etter says several groups and cadaver dogs will join efforts on Saturday to search the area in hopes of coming up with more evidence about Hanna's disappearance on July third. He reports the department has adequate manpower and no additional volunteers are needed.

Hi I am new here. I am actually from this area. Jared went missing in Centralia. I didn’t know if it was confirmed he was seen in Alton after? I am new so if anything I say is out of line please let me know i thought the only rules were mature discussion and no foul language. But There are multiple men who have gone missing in Centralia area over years. There’s never been any official connections made between these cases ranging all the back to the 80s or 90s but I find it strange that there’s way more men that have gone missing than women here. Anyways There’s also a train in town that can take people all the way to Chicago. There is also a prison right next to Jolif Road and a community college. Centralia Il used to be a very thriving town roughly 30 years ago and now there’s a lot more crime and drugs and I wonder if these several missing people have a correlation to any corrupt police work or political doings. Also there was also a man who went missing in clinton county that same year. I don’t believe those two to be related myself but I feel like that would maybe be naive to completely rule out if anyone on here would want to know more. Again idk if you are allowed to speculate or talk about theories on this website so just tell me if my comment isn’t okay. thanks!!

Authorities in Clinton County are investigating the discovery of human remains located not far from where a truck belonging to a missing Jerseyville man was found almost 10 years ago. Jared Hanna was last seen walking a few miles from where the truck was found abandoned and out of gas in July 2011 near Centralia.

Sgt. Timmerman said he didn’t want to say for certain, but he said: “I do not believe it to be Jared Hanna.”

“We believe we know who it is, but we are not 100 percent sure and won’t confirm the identity until the investigative work is completed,” he added.

“Some say Jared was last seen out in Jerseyville and others say he was seen here,” Sgt. Timmermann said. “There are all kinds of rumors out there. Jared's vehicle was located not too terribly far from here, so it is not that it can’t be Jared. I don’t believe it to be, though."

Mike Ringhausen, Jersey County Sheriff, said the Jared Hanna case hits close to home and is "heartbreaking" because his mom was once a dispatcher for the sheriff's office and his children often came in to visit her. He said his mom died over the last year and never was able to have close in her son's missing person case.

"There are no new developments," Sheriff Ringhausen said about the Hanna case. "You would think somebody would know something. The majority of the leads we have received in the case are all the same and checked out, so nothing new has happened. We are glad the media keeps putting things out and Two Rivers Crime Stoppers reminds people about it. We are still hopeful something turns up and leads us in the right direction to bring the case to a close for the family."

For the tenth anniversary of Jared’s disappearance, the family will do a balloon release at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 3 2021, at Wock Lake, 205 June St. in Jerseyville.

  • JERSEYVILLE — For years, the family of Jared Hanna has been trying to solve a mystery.

Like a jigsaw puzzle with pieces missing, some details are there; just not enough to see the complete picture.

What is known is that Hanna was last seen July 2, 2011, in Jerseyville, wearing a dark blue T-shirt, jean shorts and tennis shoes.

Two days later, his pickup truck was found abandoned on Joliff Bridge Road. It was about 70 miles from home, in Clinton County.

A motorist reported seeing someone matching his description — 5 foot, 7 inches tall with black hair, brown eyes and scars on the back of his head and right heel of his foot — walking along the road about midnight July 3. Clinton County authorities said Hanna knocked on the door of a residence near where his truck was found out of gas about 8:30 that morning.
The person at the house gave him a drink of water and directions to nearby Centralia.
And then, nothing.

“That’s the last positive ID we know of,” Clinton County Chief Deputy Mark Etter said later that year. “Since then, there have only been odds and ends.”

Days after Hanna was reported missing, searchers scoured the woods- and farm fields-filled area. Family members, with the help of volunteers, have conducted their own searches, to no avail.

They will not give up, though. They said it would be out of character for Hanna, described as a responsible father and worker, to just walk off.

“We want answers,” Hanna’s sister, Heather Hanna, has told reporters. “All we want is to find Jared.”

Since then, thousands have helped spread the word across the Midwest, picking up on the story through the Facebook group “Help Find Jared Hanna.”
Two Rivers Crime Stoppers is hoping it can help spur information. The group is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for Hanna’s disappearance. Clinton County Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information.

Hanna is one of two open missing persons cases to which Two Rivers Crime Stoppers is trying to bring attention. The group also is offering a $1,000 reward for information that helps them find William “Bill” McPike of Godfrey or whoever is responsible for his disappearance.
McPike was last seen May 18, 2017, as he was walking to his home in Godfrey.
Authorities searched the woods and paths near his home, as well as Piasa Creek and the Mississippi River.
