[font=verdana, arial, helvetica]With respect to ruling out Papa Hobbs, I have some questions.

1) Are there more Hobbs children?

2) Life insurance policies on Laura?

Could this have been a planned murder to get out of child support or to get insurance$$? Was it carried out this way to make it look like some crazy killer is on the loose randomly killing little girls 2 at a time?

1. I haven't heard if there were any other children.in the Hobbs family. I did see Krystal had an older brother who was interviewed on t.v.

2. It would be very unusual to have a life insurance policy on a child that young. At the most I could see enough to cover funeral expenses or as an investment vehicle to borrow against for college expenses down the line.

i'm just amazed that these kids were seemingly roaming all day long!
Did they eat?

Timeline...

  1. they were at a friend's house at 9am,
  2. scrubbing off chalk on garage at 10
  3. in a neighbor's hammock at 4pm
  4. riding a bike at 6pm
  5. reported missing at 9pm
  6. dead at 12am by coroner's report (estimated)
  7. found at 6:00am
references:

  1. Jim Goetz, a Zion resident who lives across the street from Beulah Park, said he last saw the two girls about 9 a.m. Sunday, when they rode their bicycles to his house to play with his 7-year-old daughter. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-050509zion,1,4949577.story?coll=chi-newsbreaking-hed&ctrack=2&cset=true
  2. At one point, Goetz said, he scolded the children for drawing in chalk on his garage and made them clean it off. After about an hour [10am implied], the two visiting girls got on their bikes and rode away, saying they were going to ride by the ravine in Beulah Park. Same link as reference 1.
  3. "Apparently two little girls came here looking for my daughter to play with and said they were playing in the hammock for a while and then left around 4:00 yesterday," said Dora Florek, neighbor. http://abclocal.go.com/wls/news/050905_ns_zion.html
  4. NBC5 reported the bodies wer discovered by a male jogger and that the girls disappeared after leaving a friend's house around 6 p.m. Sunday. http://www.dailyherald.com/story.asp?id=46645
  5. One of the girls' parents reported her daughter missing around 9 p.m. Sunday. The girl was supposed to be home at 7 p.m. same link as reference 4.
  6. Lake County Coroner Richard Keller said the girls appeared to have been killed around midnight, but an autopsy was still being conducted to determine for sure. He said it was difficult to tell because of rain and cool temperature. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-050509zion,0,7457125.story?page=1&coll=chi-news-hed
  7. A resident walking through a wooded part of the city's Beulah Park discovered the bodies around 6 a.m., Deputy Chief Clyde Watkins said. A bike path and a ravine run through the area, which police cordoned off Monday morning. http://abclocal.go.com/wls/news/050905_ns_zion.html

That is a lot of roaming. They may live in a very different world than I do because I would NEVER let my 2nd grader go outside that way. I don't even let my 5th grader roam around like that.

One article stated that they were killed around midnight, although they are not finished with their autopsies. That would mean that they were reported missing before they were killed, I wonder where they were because police had dogs in the park looking for them.

Father Of Slain Girl Questioned In Deaths
Man Labeled 'Person Of Interest'

..........Hobbs' father -- who found the bodies and alerted authorities -- was interviewed by police Monday night, NBC5's Amy Jacobson reported. Police called Hobbs's father a "person of interest" in the case and evidence technicians also took the clothes Hobbs was wearing out of his house, Jacobson reported...........

I haven't had time to read all the posts here but I wonder..... Gary Ridgeway (Greenriver killer) stabbed a little boy when he was a teenager (I believe). AND Ted Bundy also ran up to someone on their stairs at their home entrance and stabbed someone too. My hunch is that it's a teenager serial killer in the making. Thoughts?

I have said this before....I am really losing faith in those dogs lately.

OH Heavens, NO! How could he be so evil to take both little girls? Omg... I hope that's not the answer. Our little babies can't even be safe at their own homes.

Makes me so greatful that my children's biggest complaints is that they have to "wake up for school..." and they "don't like the supper I make...."

Our little babies. :(

Just anounced, that someone WILL be charged later today!!!!!!

The thing about the dogs, though, is that they may not pick up a scent. However, they won't pick up a scent that's not there. Hopefully that makes sense to you. It sounds funny, but I know what I mean.

I am glad they got the person responsible. It may be a family member if they were found so quick.

I got the impression it was one of the parents or family member of one of the girls.
