GUILTY IL - Mya Lyons, 9, stabbed to death, Chicago, 15 July 2008

By the time police searched Lyons' van 10 days later "every visible drop of blood had been scoured away and the clothes he wore on July 15 were gone," said Valentini. However, an expert found blood in places, including inside a vent, where it could not be easily explained, said Valentini, who insisted that the state's expert, as well as photos of Lyons taken the night of the murder, prove his guilt.

I've seen no mention of luminol (yet) and no mention of testing that proved the blood in the vents of RL's van belonged to Mya. I mention them, not because I doubt RL's guilt, but am curious.

It never made any sense to me that he wouldn't have called police to the scene when he found Mya's body in the alley. Clearly, he couldn't do that because he hadn't yet been able to clean the van.

Haven't seen any new news reported on todays events during the trial.

Just read an article about today's testimony by a a pathologist. Can't figure out how to link on my iPad. Google Mya Lyons story, that's how I found it.

Here's a link to the Chicago Tribune story that includes some of the pathology evidence. Not sure if that's what you read, but thought I'd post as it was filed very late last night by the Trib

Thank you, I was already asleep when the article was added.

Interesting that the medical expert testified there was very little internal bleeding, and it is believed that Mya was already dying or deceased when stabbed. How then did the blood get in the vent(s)?

:praying: I wonder if the jury will begin deliberating today. It sounds like they might.
Praying they make the right decision and bring this precious child justice.

Over the last few days it occurred to me Richard Lyons is just like D'Andre Lane. I don't understand that kind of rage.

My heart is breaking all over again for Mya's mom. Keeping her in our prayers.

I was in tbe car when I heard the guilty verdict on the radio. I searched but am not finding any info-yet-on when sentencing is scheduled.

Glad justice has been served, but still sad because this little girl didn't deserve such a horrific ending at the hands of her father.

If anyone see's info on sentencing, please post it.
