WATCH: Attorney offers update in Romeoville murder investigation following death of suspect, person

WGN News: Sep 21, 2023
'She was not there in Romeoville. She was asleep. Unfortunately, she is not here to speak for herself," said the attorney for the family of Ermalinda Palomo, who police identified as a person of interest in the Romeoville murders.

This "relationship" between NH and ZB is described very vaguely. Both NH's girlfriend and ZB's husband were aware of it...so was it an affair? A friendship? A working relationship? A past romantic relationship, like years ago?

Not that it matters, but the vague nature of all of the reporting is intriguing.

IMO, the silence by all including ZB's former employer and co-workers makes me think NH and ZB had the same employer/workplace in common, and Corporate wasted no time issuing a company wide warning that job security was at risk if there was any disclosure/chatter before LE completed their investigation.

I've also speculated that ZB took a new job when the family purchased their first home and relocated to Romeo around April, hoping to put the alleged affair/infidelity all behind them. Again-- just speculation.

ETA: Recalling an odd post exchange between EP and NH visible on NH's FB. The exchange alludes to EP receiving a text message by an imposter posing as NH. NH responds that the text was not from him and adds a screenshot of the message ER received and includes a google link making reference to how easily hack/imposter texting can be done -- "even using an iPhone." IMO, NH also appeared to threaten the imposter as a female "stalker."

I didn't pay much mind to the post (don't know if still avail) until the latest police report that EP had knowledge of the massacre and helped in the planning. Could ZB have been going after EP on social, really stirring up the crazy? Perhaps NH (or both) was on some bad stuff, experiencing heightened paranoia, and NH affixed on ZB causing problems for him. Per EP's family, NH seemed to have changed in recent months and after six years in the family, they no longer welcomed him around.

Speaking of paranoia and cold blooded killings, PCP laced marijuana and Aaron Hernandez (NFL-Patriots) comes to mind. MOO

From the quoted 10/4/24 MSM link:

Palomo’s loved ones initially feared she was taken against her will by Huey, but police now believe she was the mastermind of a twisted plot to eliminate a romantic rival.

“The tragic deaths of a young family, including two young children, will forever impact the surviving family and those that investigated this case,” Romeoville Police Chief Brant Hromadka said in a statement.

[..]

Palomo, 50, knew Huey, 32, was having an affair with Bartolomei for about a year before the killings, police said, motivating her to launch an intricate online plot.

She created fake phone numbers and online accounts to make contact with Huey and trick him into believing he was in the crosshairs of a Mexican drug cartel, police said.

Huey “fully believed the information being fed to him by Ermalinda, but did not know Ermalinda was the person he was communicating with,” Romeoville Police Detective Daniel Zakula wrote.

Wow, I was on track with the stalker speculation but I never figured Paloma (EP) for the imposter, stalker/master mind or that NH was so gullible! IMO, that's one desperate woman, EP, so desperate to keep NH around that she planned the murder of his paramour, and ended up dead herself. That's pretty sick drama.

"This brings evil to a whole new level," said ABC7 police affairs consultant and former suburban police chief Bill Kushner, adding that he's never seen a murder case so complicated and convoluted.

"[Palomo] started this, based on the report, to keep [Huey, Jr.] faithful, given his infidelity... and it grew into the drug cartel story and multiple ping or phone numbers and text messages," Kushner said. "She really wove quite a web of deception."

Early in the investigation, Palomo was described as an abduction victim who was held against her will, and her family even filed a missing persons report, according to records obtained by the I-Team.

The new records show that at least one family member of the shooter, Huey, Jr. knew about what happened.

Romeoville police said the day before Huey, Jr. killed himself, he had confessed to his own mother that he was the killer.

What the mother did with that information is not apparent from the investigation files.
