Semaj ML Crosby was reported missing from the area of Luana Road and Richards Street in Joliet Township.

She was last seen wearing a gray, long-sleeve shirt with a cat face and blue jeans. Her hair was in ponytails with white beads.

Family members were working on a car outside their home in the 300 block of Louis Road, and older children were playing in the yard with the baby.

They noticed the 1-year-old was missing and called the sheriff’s department.

The girl's mother pleaded for anyone with information about her toddler's whereabouts to come forward.
"I just want my baby home," she told WGN-TV. "I just want her home, I just want to know she's safe. I just want to know she's OK."

Investigators have been questioning the family, which they said is standard procedure. However, police said there have been conflicting reports from relatives about whether it had been 30 minutes or up to 2 hours before Semaj was reported missing.

1-YEAR-OLD GIRL MISSING FROM JOLIET TOWNSHIP; TEAMS TO SEARCH POND

Will County deputies said Wednesday morning that they believe she wandered off and may be hiding. They have also been talking to her mother.

Around 9:30 a.m., emergency vehicles parked near a pond close to where Semaj was last seen. As of 9:45 a.m., search teams were not yet in the water. They were seen waiting along the banks. The Chicago Police Department sent a chopper to aid the search effort.

The helicopter search had been suspended, but sheriff's deputies were still at the scene. Authorities asked anyone who does not live in the neighborhood to avoid the area to allow teams to continue their search.

Police said they don't believe any foul play was involved.

Anyone with information about where Semaj could be should call 911.

Authorities are going door-to-door, using bloodhounds and drones. A pond is being searched in the Sugar Creek subdivision and a Cook County helicopter service has provided air search using infrared and heat capabilities.

According to the following link, the Crosby home backyard backs up to the school, and the school will provide video surveillance to the police.

I'm a little more worried about the comings and goings at the school , it's possible someone took her, or accidently hurt her, especially with any after school activities or aftercare pick ups.

4 unfounded reports of neglect and a dcfs worker saw the child shortly before she went missing. The article states there were no concerns with yesterday's visit.

I really do believe she just wandered off. I hope the vacant homes in the area have been searched and I hope cars have been searched.IT

Hmmm that makes me wonder who is reporting her. Especially since the worker had just been there.
