He was traveling westbound 94. He was in one of the center two lanes. For whatever reason, he veered to the right and struck the guardrail. From that point, (he) veered back to the left, struck another vehicle and both those vehicles came to a stop in the center median,” Antioch Police Chief Geoff Guttschow said.

Howe told his parents he was getting stressed from working at his apartment during the pandemic.

He sought help from a counselor due to anxious feelings the same day he went missing, NewsNation reported.
'It's a nightmare': Parents of missing 24-year-old man who went missing near Libertyville speak out

We will probably never know or understand what happened that tragic day. May his family find peace and solace and may he RIP.

I feel that Tommy may have been in a panic attack mode, or feeling unwell, before the car incident happened. Looking at the accident, it seems like he was having some kind of an issue, which ended up with him veering into the guard rail.

So when he fled the scene, he was already panicked and volatile. JMO

So it is really sad that he came upon a body of water. So many 'missing' young men end up drowning, inexplicably. It is so tragic.

Fundraiser started for memorial bench, scholarship in memory of missing Antioch man found dead near Libertyville

A fundraiser has been started to fund a memorial and scholarship in memory of Antioch resident Thomas Howe, who went missing before being found dead near Libertyville earlier this year.

Howe, 24, of Antioch, was reported missing to the Antioch Police Department on January 22.

Schneiderman said the memorial bench requires a $5,000 donation to the university. Howe’s family will get to choose what is said on the memorial.

The additional money raised will then go towards a scholarship fund with Sigma Alpha Mu at Miami of Ohio, Schneiderman said. “This is a great way to honor Tommy.”
