Tsering Wangyal was last seen in the 9500 block of Bronx Place, where she lives with her husband, on July 15 around 4:00 p.m. Her husband was asleep at home at the time when Wangyal slipped out.

The new surveillance image shows Wangyal on that same day around 6 p.m. in Evanston at the Levy Center.

Her daughter, Tenzin Wangyal, believed she was probably headed to the Tibetan Alliance of Chicago Community Center, where she was to attend an event that night. However, she never showed up. She left home without her cane, phone or ID.

The search intensified as dozens of volunteers gathered at Evanston's Tibetan Alliance of Chicago to get their marching orders. It is there where Tsering Wangyal's daughter, Tenzin Wangyal, believes her mother was trying to get to when she disappeared Monday afternoon.

*****
she was spotted on camera leaving her condo just across the street from Old Orchard Mall around 4 p.m. A surveillance photo released Saturday shows her at Evanston's Levy Senior Center around 6 p.m.

Her family believe she must have gotten on the 97 bus to get there, though CTA have yet to provide them with surveillance footage to confirm this.

Because her English was limited, friends and family believe Wangyal might have had a hard time asking for help if she ran into trouble. A grid search of the area surrounding the Senior Center was being done today with volunteers told to go door to door.

Circumstances of Disappearance
Wangyal is an 82 year old female with limited mobility. She left her home in Skokie on foot at approximately 4:00 PM on 15 JUL 24 She did not have her walker with her, has no phone, money, credit cards, or a vehicle. She left the home wearing slippers. Searches of the area and the Evanston location to include bloodhounds and drones were unsuccessful.

The local news (Chicago) has been keeping the coverage going for this lady. My best friend lives in Evanston - crime wise - it's a pretty safe area and really not that far from her home, not walking distance, but an easy bus ride, likely with no changing busses.

Tenzin Wangyal said her mother was seen at the Levy Center around 5:30 p.m., leaving at approximately 6 p.m. Her intended destination from her condo in Skokie had been the Tibetan Community Center on Dempster Street and McCormick Boulevard, but she took the wrong bus and found herself at the Levy Center. “It appears that she tried asking for help at the Levy Center but was not understood by the staff,” Tenzin said.

Tenzin said her mother is a warm and loving person, who serves as a caregiver for others. “She is very spiritual, and loves her family and community.”
