I hope this trend continues.

Chicago warns ballparks may close if coronavirus numbers continue to climb | WGN-TV

I really wonder if some States will ever be able to turn this off. Cases naturally fluctuate, but it seems some places are intent on placing the blame on the population, and, in this case, threatening to punish them directly. How long is this close/open/close cycle sustainable? At some point wouldn't it just make more sense to pursue virus eradication. I grew up there and it just makes me ill to watch.

Q: Who has to get vaccinated in Illinois now?

A: Those included in the new vaccine mandates include all prekindergarten through 12th grade teachers and staff, higher education personnel, higher education students and health care workers in settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, physicians’ offices and urgent care centers.

Q: Who has to wear masks now?

A: Everyone 2 and older will have to wear masks when indoors starting Monday. Masks will not be required outdoors, but are encouraged in crowded outdoor settings such as festivals and concerts.

Illinois has new COVID-19 vaccine and mask mandates. Here’s how they’ll work.

Any rumblings about when Lori and JB will take the next step and impose curfews and closures? If partial mitigations are good...

maybe because vaccinated people are shedding the live virus scientifically called "L452", a.k.a the Delta Variant.

Chicago schools cancel classes again as fight with teachers over Covid hits second week (nbcnews.com)

The Chicago Teachers Union is holding a "day of action" on Monday after weekend negotiations failed to produce an agreement over Covid-19 safety protocols.

Chicago school leaders canceled classes for the fourth consecutive day on Monday as a standoff with the local teachers' union over remote learning and other Covid-19 safety protocols entered its second week.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said on Sunday that weekend negotiations had failed to produce an agreement, meaning classes would be canceled on Monday...

The development comes after the union accused the city of failing to do enough to ensure that students and teachers could return to school safely in the midst of rising Covid cases. It has argued that students should continue with remote learning, clashing with city officials who want students back in the classroom and claim it is one of the safest places they can be...
