Is it a fact he crossed the creek? Or is that only our speculation?

It seems I recall at some point LE saying with some certainty that they crossed the creek on the way to the crime scene. I remember because at that time I personally didn't believe they crossed the creek and had to stop and rethink things. LE never said why or how they knew this but there was some speculation that the audio Libby recorded has sound indicating they walked through the creek.

I also remember LE stating that as well.

It is MY OPINION ONLY that the girls ran from BG once under the bridge and went through the creek trying to get away. I think his ultimate plan was foiled and he eliminated them at that point rather than have them get away.

I imagine he left his ‘tools’ weapon etc in the car, probably part of his MO, there’s a possibility he could have spooked other young girls he’d attempted to follow, if they or anyone had rang police and said there’s a creepy guy prowling and they went to check it out, he’d appear innocent if his kit was in his car. So he followed, made sure that they were far enough not to be seen and ensured no one was around before heading to his car then he might have followed them again, this time the girls get scared and take a picture, he could be holding weapons in his pockets in that photo, zip ties, rope, maybe even a hammer. I dread to think of the terror those young girls felt in their final moments. They weren’t even left alone for that long, he was waiting to pounce maybe he stalked them til they noticed him then retreated to his car, they thought he’d left them alone and when the opportunity was there he appeared again. All JMO of course.

In the long version of Officer Holman’s interview he mentioned (paraphrased) traveling over steep terrain in a wooded area to get to where the girls were found. He said they crossed the creek. You wouldn’t go this way just taking a walk.

This interview still contains a wealth of info, IMO.

Lead detective in Delphi murders confirms police have more audio from phone, DNA evidence

Good refresher. There is a lot of info there. But I just feel that he really didn't answer a lot of questions. He gave answers about general investigative procedures or stated he couldn't answer it because it would compromise the integrity of the investigation - which I understand.

But now that I listen to it again, I come away with less confidence than before. I'm starting to believe they don't have the murderer's DNA after listening to this interview. What I do find REALLY interesting is that he sort of leaves open the option of possibly releasing more of the audio at a later date. Or at least that is what I get out of it.

I don't. I believe he had full control over them up to their deaths.

Same here, and my theory is he grabbed Abby and used some type of tool or restraining device to help him to control her. He had control over them at the end of the bridge, all the way to the crime scene, but at the CS the girls may have fought back.

I can see the possibility of them making a run for it but I don't give it a high probability . If he was using a gun most likely not. If they did make a run for it and they knew the area it might have been close to where they were found, IF they knew there was a house just beyond the treeline.

Every time I try to run the scenario through my head, I always have the murderer in control till the end.

I don't believe I ever heard if the murder weapon was a gun. (I don't believe the cause of death was ever revealed by LE.) With all the leaves on the ground it is possible that if he did use a gun he may have not found all the shell casings - assuming he didn't use a revolver. The POI in MO used a hand gun in the murder he committed there.

I don't know why I keep thinking he used a gun to control Abigail and Liberty, but he used some weapon or method in the killing.
