Finally caught up on this thread!

When I was in high school back in the Pleistocene the river was the teenage hangout. That's where a bunch of my friends and I smoked pot for the first time. We'd been planning it for several weeks as I recall.

So with that in mind, one thought I had about how both girls may have been subdued: Say they arranged to meet an older boy at the creek and he brought a bottle of booze with him. Said booze had been spiked with roofies or something similar. Bottle is passed around to the girls first and he avoids drinking by saying he's already had some and they should catch up with him. Within minutes they are both woozy and then incapacitated.

My hunch is they were then sexually assaulted and killed by strangulation.

Rest in Peace Abigail and Liberty. Justice is coming!

The toxicology report will confirm or deny stuff like that....but, I'm thinking (and this is just me, no prove or anything) it took so long to identify the bodies bc they might have been unidentifiable on site....that would leave out strangulation alone. I hope this isn't the case.

I just have to say this case has brought me back to websleuths after being away for a long time due to illness but this case breaks my heart. I grew up hiking and walking alone in woods and fields and never once had a care in the world. My friends and I literally grew up in the woods and fields and sometimes we were getting up to typical teenage trouble ie smoking, drinking but never did we think we were in danger.

I know times have changed and I am grateful I now live in a place were our kids can have total freedom in nature and we dont worry about them as we live on a remote Island and everyone knows everyone. But it upsets me so much to think children can't have any freedom anymore apparently, and it makes me question even our lives here. Sorry I am rambling. I am just so glad to be back and hope they find the perp quickly.

This is what I see. All the bunching under the jacket may be due to what I think is a hoodie. Just MO.

The brown part hanging below the blue coat looks like the center "kangaroo" pocket of a pullover hoodie. I believe his hand is in the hoodie pocket. IMO

Like many others, I was also reminded of Lyric and Elizabeth Cook.

However Liberty and Abigail were not removed to a secondary location. A vehicle likely was not involved. This definitely changes the pool of likely suspects.

Looks like there is someone walking beside him on his right. As well, the left leg looks blurred out. I wonder why that is? I assume the police edited the pic before sending it out.

Want to know how much interest this case has generated ? Click on the link below and look at the view count on this map. It appears just under the title. It's astonishing.

I've made up a lot of maps in the past, but I never had one with a view count that high......and this just spans a couple of days.

Skibaboo..........have you ever had a map with that many hits ??

I'm wondering if his pic is really from a trail cam. You'd think someone would have chimed in very early that this place has trail cams. Another poster mentioned earlier they could have recovered one of the girls' phones & found this.

Hm, interesting. It does look like someone to his right.

They just covered this story on GMA and showed a clip of someone making a comment that one of the girl's phone's was pinging in town the day the girls went missing. Did I miss that somewhere or is this new info?

He must have had a gun. How else does one man, overtake two teenage girls, at the same time?

Unfortunately there are many ways. They could have been so scared they just complied. Very scary if it did happen to be one person...they must have been dramatized....hate it even thinking about it. Bless those girls.

That isn't new information. There is some discussion about it in this thread. Check out posts 207 and 208.

".......know what is going on in your kids' lives."

Advice to community from police spokesman at press conference early on.

This statement led me to believe that the girls may have been conversing with someone online.

I also believe police are way ahead in this case. They have no doubt ID'd the man in the photo due to the relative small size of the town. Police no doubt have the perp under surveillance and are only waiting for forensics to make the arrest.

Police provided a photograph of a subject who was on the Delphi Historic Trails around the time Abigail and Liberty were walking. They are asking help from the public to identify him so he can be contacted regarding what he might have seen.

Investigators are proceeding with caution and not calling the man in the photograph a suspect. There is no suspect(s) in custody at this time, police said.

[...]

Police are asking anyone who has any information on the case to call the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at 765-564-2413, the Delphi Police Department at 765-564-2345 or the Indiana State Police at 765-567-2125

Delphi Community Schools Superintendent Gregory Briles said counselors will be available for students and staff Wednesday. All after school activities have been canceled for the remainder of the week at Delphi Community Middle School. http://fox17online.com/2017/02/16/t...ing-hike-found-dead-police-seek-man-in-photo/

Actually last night on DCW50"s news channel they were covering a story of a murdered MD girl who was found in VA and they used that exact line . " know what is going on in your kids lives". I cannot find the clip of the VA officer saying it but the reporter here cites it as in indirect quote from a suspects mother.

I actually thought the man would have been ID'd when I got on this morning, with it being such a small town. I know it's still early over there, and people will travel from further afield to walk the trails.
