Second memorial bench dedicated to both Flora and Delphi victims

A bench is being installed to honor the two teens who were murdered in Delphi and the four sisters who were killed in an intentionally set house fire in Flora.

The limestone bench will be called “Six Girls Stone Immaculate," featuring all six of the victim's names. It'll be installed Thursday, with a dedication ceremony planned for the evening.

"Based on the information given by family and friends, police do not believe foul play is involved and have been given no information that would lead them to believe the girls are in any immediate danger, other than exposure to outside elements.

There were tears, but also a surprising amount of laughter May 25 at the unveiling of a stone bench to remember four girls who died in an intentionally set house fire in Flora and two girls who were murdered in Delphi.

More than 100 people attended the event.

The bench was designed by Branden Apitz, the art teacher at Carroll Elementary School, and he gave an informal talk about the idea for the stone bench that was carved by 101 students, school staff members and local citizens “because this is Life 101.” It took 22 days to complete the carving, he said.

"Patty said it doesn’t surprise him that Liberty left police with that evidence because photography was one of her passions. It was the reason the girls were on the Monon High Bridge that Monday afternoon.

“She’s kind of a photo buff anyway, that’s why the girls were out there taking pictures,” said Patty. “That’s why they were out there in the first place – to catch the scenery.”

footprints

Two bodies were found by volunteers on Tuesday less than a mile from where the girls were originally dropped off. The bodies were found on private property, about 50 feet from the shore of Deer Creek. Sources tell Call 6 Investigates that a set of footprints are what led volunteers to the area the bodies were found.

Delphi Murders: 4 months later, investigators say they're 'close' to finding Libby & Abby's killer

Sen. Joe Donnelly honors Delphi murder victims at Congressional ballgame

Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly honored Abby Williams and Libby German during a charity baseball game in Washington D.C. Thursday.

The Democrat donned a Delphi softball jersey to represent the Delphi girls who were murdered in February of this year.

“I have Abby and Libby and Delphi in my heart,” said Donnelly in a video posted on Twitter.
