INDIANAPOLIS — A 29-year-old man faces a Murder charge after a woman was found dead outside a home on the city's southeast side this afternoon.

According to IMPD, officers were called to the 1900 block of Earhart Street on a report of a dead person. They found 30-year-old Chanti Dixon in the 1800 block of Wagner Street.

Dixon was reported missing earlier in the day, according to IMPD.
On Tuesday, IMPD announced the arrest of a 29-year-old man. The man, according to IMPD, was an Uber driver who picked up Dixon prior to her death.

Dixon was found to have suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

According to preliminary court documents, the Uber driver told police differing stories before eventually admitting to shooting Dixon in the back of his car.

The Uber driver also admitted to sexually assaulting her, according to court documents.

"This is disgusting," Chief Chris Bailey said. "It's disturbing. No one deserves to be treated this way in our community."
Assistant Chief of Police Catherine Cummings also shared comments with the public on Tuesday at a press conference.
"As a woman, this hits differently for me," Cummings said.

"Women, girls, mothers.. we have a right to exist freely in our community without fear of something heinous happening to them. We have a right to walk, bike, order a ride share without fearing something bad will happen to them."

Yes we do!!

A ride-share driver was arrested less than 24 hours after a woman who called him for a ride was reported missing. Her body was found Monday afternoon in a wooded area near the apartment complex where she lived.

Chanti Bresha Dixon, 30, was found dead near the Grandville Cooperative apartments in the 1800 block of Wagner Lane about 1 p.m. The caller led police to where Dixon was found unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

INDIANAPOLIS — Police say an Uber driver recently arrested in the death of Chanti Dixon admitted he raped, shot and killed the woman after picking her up from work Sunday morning.

Francisco Valadez, 29, was arrested Tuesday morning by IMPD homicide detectives and preliminarily charged with murder.

Valadez reportedly admitted to police that he shot and killed the 30-year-old Dixon in a fit of rage after picking her up as an Uber driver and attempting to rape her in the back of his car. He then said he dumped her body in an alleyway.

Dixon’s death

Court documents filed Tuesday in Marion County Court detail how officers were called around 1 p.m. Monday to the 1800 block of Wagner Lane after a woman’s body was found in a nearby wooded area. IMPD arrived to find a woman naked, unresponsive and lying on her stomach.

and it keeps getting worse :(
Detectives said Valadez admitted to raping the woman in the back of his car. While raping the woman, Valadez said she insulted his body. This reportedly caused him to become enraged and shoot Dixon in the head.

Valadez told police that after the shooting, he drug Dixon out of his car and placed her lifeless body behind a concrete barrier at the dead end of Wagner Lane. The Uber driver also admitted to trying to have sex with Dixon’s dead body, police said.

This is so scary. I wish that there was a way that women could specify female drivers only. I know the myriad of issues that would come with this though.

I don't like the thought of women basically being prey for a random bad guy Uber driver.

“As a woman, this hits differently for me,” she said during Tuesday’s press briefing. “Women, girls, mothers have a right to exist freely in our community without fear of something heinous happening to them. They have a right to walk, bike, order, rideshare without fearing something bad will happen to them. This is a family’s worst nightmare, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family during this trying time.”

“This woman is gone from the world unnecessarily by an evil act,” Bailey said. “I’m glad that we were able to find this individual as quickly as we did, so that he didn’t have an opportunity to perpetuate violence further in our community.”

This is horrific - I used to live in Indianapolis - it had it's share of crime, but I still felt safe in most areas. A couple of things stuck out about this. She was picked up by the uber at her job at 3:30 am. I assume she worked at a bar/restaurant given the time she was off work. The driver then drove her to another address in Indy (Washington St) where she stayed briefly, then left with the same driver. It was apparently after they left there to go to her apartment building, that she was killed.

(1) I'm speaking here as someone who is a survivor of rape. Her laughing at him about "the size of his genitals" during the course of the rape doesn't seem logical (ie. just HIS story of what happened). I've attended groups with other women who survived violent sexual crime and we all pretty much had the same story - you either fight like hell or go silent, afraid he'll kill you otherwise, but laughing at his *#($ during a rape? No, my opinion, but I'm not buying that. I think he's tried to make this out as consensual gone wrong as opposed to forcible rape.

(2) What was the stop on Washington Street for? A friend's home? Business (i.e. mini mart for a coffee)? Could there have been a witness there who saw or heard something unusual in his behavior as they left. https://fox59.com/news/indycrime/im...woman-before-dumping-her-body-in-an-alleyway/

<modsnip - irrelevant to this case>

Rest in Peace Chanti - may there be justice for you.

Kirk is launching On A Mission Transportation in Indianapolis, which she said will be focused on safety more than anything else.

"Anyone that does not feel comfortable hopping in a certain rideshare, just hit me up," Kirk said. "Something needs to be done. Instead of just speaking about it, action speaks louder than words."

Kirk is a licensed taxi driver and owns a large passenger van which she will use for transportation. She is already taking rides and said potential customers often ask her a specific question.

"They're asking, 'Do you have a female driver?'" Kirk said. "They don't trust males out here."

One male is part of Kirk's team: Laurence Taylor, a private security guard who pledged to escort the van on its trips.

INDIANAPOLIS — A local Uber driver who reportedly told police he raped and killed missing Indy woman Chanti Dixon before dumping her body in an alleyway and throwing her phones into the woods has now been charged with murder in Marion County.

Francisco Valadez, 29, was arrested last Tuesday by IMPD homicide detectives after he reportedly admitted he shot and killed the 30-year-old Dixon in a fit of rage after picking her up as an Uber driver and attempting to rape her in the back of his car.

“This is just disgusting all around and it did not have to happen,” said IMPD Chief Chris Bailey.

Valadez was officially charged Monday with felony murder, attempted rape and attempted abuse of a corpse.

I fought ,until I went silent.
However I was taunted .. I bet he is reversing roles in his retelling of the story.

Your number 2 questions are probably the same things he used to taunt her with when she didnt bite into that part of his game ... he got mad.
She made him do it ...all he wanted was a BJ.. sick sick sick ... and he is not even that unnormal... even police officers act this way . Cab drivers always have . I have personal cab stories that are just gross.
