GUILTY IN - DARREN DEON VANN, 43, Gary, body count at seven, more expected

Man, oh, man..........20 years this guy has been roaming around with the exception of a 4 year stint in prison.


There is no telling what the body count is going to be by the time he comes clean on everything. For some reason, that's exactly what he seems to be doing too.

Maybe he hit some kind of a magic number and decided enough was enough. Then again, maybe he finally realized what a sick he is, and decided enough was enough.

I posted earlier today over on the other thread that he may have decided he likes it better in prison then out on the street. It appears he was released in 2013 from the Texas prison. A lot of these guys actually like the regimented life of a prison setting. They don't have to work, pay bills, pay rent, or find a way to eat.....it's all done for them.

I think 7 victims is gonna be the tip of the iceberg...........I'm thinking 25 or 30 may be closer.

Could Dr. Teleka Patrick who was found after having gone missing from Kalamazoo (MI) been among this serial killer's victims?

I wondered about her earlier, but they ruled her cause of death accidental drowning. Wonder if they'll take another look at her case.

I don't get how they say he moved to Gary about a decade ago when he was in TDC last year. Did he live in Gary, travel to TX, do the crimes and the times in TX and then go back to Gary , IN?

The wooded area sits just a few blocks away from the Budget Inn near Interstate 35 and Rundberg Lane where Paltauf was last seen. A Facebook page setup by her family says she was at the hotel with her boyfriend on July 7, 2006.

She left the room and was never seen again.

Shortly after that the prostitute, Loretta Lynn Roberts was found strangled and dead in a field about 5 miles away. The hink factor is that Darren Vann (from internet search) lived less than 2 miles away from the Rundberg/IH35 den of iniquity. I hope Austin PD really checks this out.

He pleaded guilty to the December 2007 sexual assault of a woman in an Austin-area apartment. The woman met Vann at an apartment.

It’s not clear why she was there, but a court document says she received a “service call from her employer.”

“Vann yelled at her that he could kill her,” an Austin police officer wrote in court documents. “Vann then told her to perform oral sex on him. She told him no. Vann hit her several times about the face,” according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Vann then forced the victim to perform oral sex on him and later raped the victim, court documents say.

I need for somebody a lot smarter than me to explain something. Last Friday is when all of this started. They picked this guy up shortly after the girl was killed in the motel. All weekend long......and even part of today , all they would say is they had a suspect in custody. They wouldn't release his name, wouldn't identify him, and on and on it went for the last 3 days. Every media report I saw said they had a suspect in custody, but the cops wouldn't identify him.

Even after the bodies started stacking up down at the coroners office............they still wouldn't I.D. him.

And the point of this secrecy is........????????????????

Cunningham became suspicious when Hardy's planned encounter with Vann, who called himself "Big Boy Appetite," went long. When Hardy did not answer her cell phone and Cunningham received "unusual" text messages that seemed to be from the male client, she and a male friend went to the Motel 6 where they discovered Hardy's body.

Vann told police he wore white gloves as he strangled Hardy with his hands and an extension cord, officials said. He then put her body in the bathtub of the motel room, turned on the shower, and left.

It's possible that LE wanted to ensure there was no accomplice who would go into deep hiding once Vann's name was announced. Just a guess, but it's one reason LE withholds a suspect's name.
