On July 25, 2015, 21-year-old Diamond Bynum and her 2-year-old nephew King Walker went missing from her father’s home in Gary, according to police.

‘I feel like I don’t even have any more tears,’ Lashann Walker, Diamond Bynum’s mother, said.

On the day of the disappearance, a relative tells police that he took a nap at the residence where Bynum and Walker were staying, and that when he woke up, they were gone.

‘We don’t know if they walked out or if they left with someone they were familiar with,’ Lashann Walker said.

The Walker family says that the Gary Police Department is treating the disappearance as a cold case because of a lack of tips in recent years, and as she tries to get the case back into the public eye again, she says she won’t give her search.

‘It’s never going to be a cold case for me. Never,’ she said.”

GARY, Ind. (CBS) — Thursday marks four years since a 2-year-old Gary, Indiana boy was last seen – with his aunt.

As CBS 2’s Jeremy Ross reported, a new image could now provide renewed hope for the boy’s family’s efforts to become whole again.

On July 25, 2015, King Walker, 2, disappeared along with his aunt, Diamond Bynum, 21. Bynum, who was described as developmentally challenged, left their Gary home that day and have not been seen since.

On Thursday, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tweeted out a photo of what the boy might look like today.

As CBS 2 has asked in the past, anyone with information in the case is asked to call their local police.

CBS 2 reached out to Gary police Thursday for an update on the case, but had not heard back as of the 5 p.m. hour.“ (BBM)

This case has always bothered me...I can't believe it's been four years. I remember seeing an interview with Diamond's father and it broke my heart. A lot of adults with Prader-Willi syndrome end up living in group homes because their families can't deal with their behavioral issues, but he was doing such a great job of taking care of her at home. I really hope he will finally get some answers.

If you want to learn more about this case look up Diamond and King podcast on YouTube, the first one is the story and the second one is a timeline with maps. We haven't given up we just need more help in conducting searches.

I saw a podcast on them recently. Family members were interviewed and there was so much more information than what I've seen before.

I've posted their Missing posters on FB a few times. I hope they are found soon.

Just saw this case on my social media feed so bumping it up. I'll read this thread as soon as I can. Wish there was a way to support this family. I also can't access the linked article above, but my heart goes out to this family. We will not forget Diamond and King.

"I'm still trying to keep the faith that they will be home soon, prayerfully that they are still OK and that someone will give us some answers," she said.

LaShann is Bynum's mother and King Walker's grandmother. From her South Side home, she clings to her belief that the pair are alive somewhere.

Bynum and Walker disappeared on July 25, 2015 while visiting a relative's home in Gary, Indiana. Bynum, who is developmentally disabled, was 21 at the time. Her toddler nephew was just 2. The family celebrated his 7th birthday Monday.

"I miss their playfulness," said Robet Walker, uncle.

The family also celebrated this week after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children shared an age progression image of how King may look now. They hope it could generate new leads.

"You guys could really save a family in need right now, a family that's really split in two and struggling to hang on right now," said relative Malik Walker.

With no new developments in the case, the family wants authorities to take a fresh look at the pair's disappearance. They hope to raise enough money to entice someone with information to come forward, or to hire a private investigator.

Meanwhile, they're pleading for the public's help and have a message for their beloved King and Diamond, wherever they are.

"We miss you and we love you so very much," LaShann said. "We can't wait til you are home with us."

Family urges people to keep looking for missing woman, nephew

Diamond Bynum and her nephew, King Walker, vanished after they were last seen in Gary in 2015 and still have not turned up after years of searching, including sweeping police manhunts across Gary and searches of ponds of Chicago's South Side.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the Gary Police Department are asking for the public's health in finding Walker and Bynum, who has special needs.

The Never Forget Me FB page featured King & Diamond's story today to mark five years since they vanished.
I thought of them the other day and wondered if they had ever been found. That was tragic. Those two all alone wandering somewhere. I remember they worked so hard looking everywhere for them. They were loved.

Man continues wait for daughter, grandson to come home 5 years after they went missing in Gary

Diamond and King stepped outside around 11 a.m. July 25, 2015, probably to take a walk as Bynum’s wife, Susanne, took a nap. The family moved to the Matthews Street home from Hammond in February 2015, so Diamond wasn’t especially familiar with the area. With King only 2 years old at the time and Diamond’s special needs — she has Prader-Willi syndrome, a condition characterized by slow mental development and a constant sense of hunger — Bynum said he couldn’t imagine them getting farther than a couple of blocks from home on their own.

They haven’t been heard from since.

There were reported sightings of the pair in Gary, Hammond and Chicago after their disappearances, but none have been confirmed.
I know these sightings have not been confirmed, but is there a chance the pair could have made it to Chicago, given Diamond's disability? It doesn't appear to be far away, but how would they get there? Would she have had any capacity (and money) to have taken public transportation?

The South Shore commuter railroad. You can go from Gary to Chicago in about 30 minutes for a couple bucks. MANY people live in Indiana and commute into the city daily. So it would not be hard at all for them to have gotten to Chicago.
But DID they? That's the question. I think about this case a lot- and have no idea what has happened to them.

Would Diamond have had the wherewithal and/or money to hop on a commuter train, though? Would they have been let on one without money? We don't have public transportation like that where I live, we only have a city bus system with a limited area and operational hours, but I don't think they'd let a rider on without money or a pass. But, I can see another passenger paying for them to ride (in my area), because it's only like a $1.50 to ride cross town & children are .75.
