This is probably a stupid question, but why not just climb into the bed of the truck? Emma surely wouldn’t have slid off if she’d been in the bed.

Great question, never seen a cell phone mentioned, and none of the reporters asked the Sheriff in any of the pressors. I don't think I have seen a time published as to when he drove off the embankment/how long the truck was in the river. I guess if it was dark, getting to shore would be more difficult if you were disoriented (high).

Without a doubt the truck is resting on the bottom.

I'm no expert, but something about the position the truck is in seems odd. If it went down an embankment I'd expect the front to be facing towards the bank?

Also not an expert but we had someone in our town get drunk and drive into the river, and his truck was also parallel to the banks rather than facing one.

From the angle of the cab, she would have been mostly above water and as long as the truck was stable, she would have been safe until help could have gotten there. To me, that says he was more worried about being busted for drugs again than the safety of his child.

Sorry, I'm no help. There's no probable cause listed among his cases. In other cases, I sometimes see them but probably half of them have no info. Once in a while a case will contain a live link to the doc.
