I don't know anything about
vapes to respond. Anyway, what baffles me regarding the video is after he picks her up with two hands, you immediately see his right arm free leaning on the rail. Unless there is a delay on the video, how is that explained? How can he free one arm so fast after lifting her with two arms? Where was CW at that point between lifting her and his right arm getting free?

Yes, I am wondering if he was smoking, as well. I notice in the Aussie video clip that I put up earlier that he seems to be walking with his right arm extended, and lifts his right hand to his face as he approaches the window. Perhaps he threw the butt out of the window? Then looked to see where it might have landed, in case it was a dangerous place for a lit butt.

Is it possible he had a cigarette at first and threw it out of the ship?

He strikes me as someone who smokes marijuana often and plays a lot of video games. Similar to the kind of 30-ish adult child who refuses to move out of the house. Except he's 51, married to the same person most of his life, gainfully employed, and aside from repeatedly driving without a seatbelt, no other negative info on him exists. He may normally be a super friendly, straight-arrow guy. The rest of the family seems like very nice people for the most part, particularly Mr. Weigand, aside from blaming RCCL (and we've noted perhaps this effort isn't necessarily steered by him).

I'm not putting down pot smokers, just referring to the type who also tends to be immature and makes this a huge part of their life - which I realize sometimes happens due to medical issues and depression.

He seems like someone his wife had to police. Like a lot of wives do. If so I wouldn't be surprised. All total speculation and admittedly mean-spirited on my part... just the impression I get from him. I used to sympathize with him a lot as far as making the worst mistake you could make. And he should have never done a tv interview. Bet his attorney said no to that. This family still hasn't been thinking straight. Maybe because they are surrounded by support and encouragement in their circle of family, friends, colleagues, and of course Winkleman.

I do not think the family is going to ever drop this lawsuit; they have pursued it rigorously and it isn't costing them any money to pursue it.

The grandfather who dropped his 18-month old grandaughter to her death on a cruise ship in Puerto Rico was offered a plea deal in her fatal fall, according to a report.....
His lawyer, Jose Perez, said that his client was offered a plea deal, but that he would rather clear his name, CBS reported.

I find it so hard to believe they would have offered him one.... I’d like confirmation from the prosecution.

Why was it so important for SA to make the point in the CBS interview that he saw her fall all the way down? Was he asked that question (doubtful) or did he bring this up. Statement analysis experts would say that whatever point the person raises is very important. That was a point about his suffering IMO. Not hers.

I could ask the same question regarding KW's comment during the original NBC Today Show interview when she claims that SA "has never placed (our) children in danger" (paraphrased). I immediately thought "the lady doth protest too much" and wondered why she made a point of mentioning this. SA looks like that "hippie" type. He probably only does sedentary activities like video games with the big belly on him, he certainly isn't running marathons! I noticed they cleaned him up for the court appearances, suit and all.

I am questioning if he really was offered one. I don’t want to believe he was. Chloe deserves justice.

Now that I've seen the video, I don't think the speculated plea deal suffices. If accurate, it is far too lenient for the crime against a precious little girl. Quite frankly, I think the "negligent homicide" charge and its inherent punishment is too lenient.

I mentioned yesterday that I wanted DH to look at the video without my saying anything about it. He finally had a chance to view the video earlier this evening and stated emphatically, "He knew that window was open!"

Cruiseliner Windows? Gravity? Risk?

I think many people don't understand cruises and the windows. I understand now. But MANY PEOPLE don't so I'm not sure they'll get a conviction.
@Aydrianna523 upload_2019-12-19_19-14-55.png bbm Not disagreeing w you about ^, but I don't think this is about cruises or windows. Same thing would/could have happened if G'pa & Chloe had been on 12th floor of hotel, rim of Grand Canyon, or a skyscraper observatory w windows or other openings.
And despite all the circumlocutions, zigs-zags, and mental gymnastics that some (including me at times) have gone thru to try to imagine this as an accident beyond G'pa's control, a lot boils down to G'pa & gravity. In surviving to age 50+, he must have a rudimentary understanding of how it works. You let go, either deliberately or inadventently, of something in your hands, it falls boom.
If 'something' is a toddler falling 100+ feet, she's dead.

In leaning forward, looking down w head thru window opening, and after that holding toddler over the void, G'pa knew what the risk was - a (virtually) unsurvivable fall. And he did it anyway. jmo

I think that might be right. He lost them their little girl and has caused them massive grief. He might feel that monetary compensation may somewhat assuage his guilt feelings about that.

Well he certainly has no problem causing future cruisers to pay more for their tickets. If there is a win, the Cruise line has to pass on their monetary loss.
I don’t think it’s going SA’s way though.
Wink may not be listing this one as -a win- on his website.

No. Because he did not do that. From, behind, for a moment, it looks like he stood her on the windowsill.
Yes, I think that he had to lift her so high to clear the wooden railing with her feet so that he could reach out and stand her on the window ledge. Maybe that he was planning on standing her on the window ledge and Chloe thought he was going to sit her on the ledge and at the very last second she stuck her legs out to sit, he let go of her and out the window she went.

OMG! Yet another rule on EVERY CRUISE SHIP!!! Never toss cigarette butts overboard! They can easily land on decks below or be caught by the wind and blown back onboard. Of course, rules don't seem to apply to SA, so it's possible that, if he was smoking, he might have tossed a cigarette butt overboard, showing complete and total disregard for smoking regulations. The more I learn about SA's antics, the angrier I get

Having learned that SA is involved in community theatre, I'm inclined to see him as an "artsy-fartsy" groupie - drinking, smoking, among other "questionable" behaviors ;) DD was quite involved in local theatre groups and had roles in university theatre productions as a child. DH and I were always with her during rehearsals and performances, and suffice it to say that there were a lot of "quirky" behaviors going on behind the scenes
