Gary is considered the most dangerous city in Indiana, even more than East Chicago. I used to commute from Indianapolis to Chicago when I first was married and I would take a southern detour that was an extra 45-minute drive rather than take the freeway through Gary. You couldn't get me there for any reason for any amount of money. I hope these young women are found. 10 Most Dangerous Places In Indiana - Movoto

Missing woman's sister pleads for help in search: 'She's a mother. She's loved.'

Though Jessica Flores' sister did not directly say her sister or friend struggle with drug addiction, she said as she passed out flyers and walked the community over the weekend, she noticed "a sense of dehumanization with women who have a drug problem in this community."

Flores was allegedly in Gary with Cottrell when she was last heard from.

The vehicle of Flores's boyfriend, which she was using around the time of her disappearance, was found abandoned in South Chicago Heights with fire damage and some of her belongings inside.

SandBBM: sadly, not just in that community, sister...

Abandoned car, burned out, personal stuff still in the car...

They are both mothers. Jessica has six children and Melina one.

We can still hope they "got out of dodge"... but it sounds pretty ominous and sad... Nothing new in MSM.

According to the article in a link in an earlier post in this thread, the sister of Jessica is raising her three smallest children. Illinois Department of Correction records shows she was released from prison in 2015 after serving five years for aggravated assault with great bodily harm, burglary, and controlled substance possession. That may be related to when she was arrested for a home invasion and battery to a child (of a romantic rival) in IL in 2010. Gary man charged with murder, kidnapping in disappearance of Illinois woman

[...]

Carter is scheduled for a formal appearance Monday in Lake Superior Court.

On Feb. 24, Flores left South Chicago Heights in a 2010 Nissan Altima belonging to her boyfriend, a probable cause affidavit states. The Nissan was later found in Chicago had been “set on fire” and had “a large amount of blood” in the back seat, according to the affidavit.

Police conducted a search March 7 for Flores’ body with officers from South Chicago Heights, Steger, Ill., Gary and Lake County Sheriff’s Department, according to court records. Flores’ sister, Mady Perez, had also gone around Gary looking for sister in recent weeks.

“The body of Jessica Flores was not located,” the affidavit states.

A witness left South Chicago Heights with Flores Feb. 24 to go to Paradise Lounge in Gary, according to the affidavit. They then went to a house in Gary where Flores knew a person named “Tiny,” the affidavit states.

Flores, the witness and Tiny went to a liquor store, according to the affidavit. When they returned to the house, “Tiny instantly became enraged because he did not see the vehicle belonging to” another female at the residence, the affidavit states. Flores and Tiny began arguing, according to court records.

When Flores and the witness tried to leave, Tiny “convinced Flores to allow him inside the vehicle,” and he “promised both women that he would get them some cocaine,” the affidavit states.

The three drove to another residence where Tiny “was inside the residence for a long time,” according to the affidavit. Tiny returned to the vehicle “with the drugs in his hand and had Flores get into the passenger seat so that he could drive,” the affidavit states.

Despite murder charge, Illinois woman believes missing sister is still alive

A Gary man has been charged with murder in connection to a missing Chicago Heights woman. But her family hasn’t given up hope she’s still alive.

[...]

According to court records, the amount of blood found in the backseat of a car where Flores was sitting made investigators believe she did not survive.

But Flores’ sister, 36-year-old Mady Perez, said she believes Flores is still alive because detectives haven’t found her body — and because the story just doesn’t add up.

“I have faith God is good,” Perez said. “Everything happens for a reason. We have to be strong for her and her kids and her mom.”

Perez believes her sister, a mother of six, is hurt but still alive and possibly caught up in a sex trafficking ring. The car the women and Carter were found in was burned.

I feel deeply for the sister, but the ME stated in previously linked MSM articles that the blood spatter was indicative of arterial spray (nor normally survivable) and there was a "pool" of blood in the car. Also, 36 year old women are not normally sex trafficked. The average age of a sex trafficking victim is 12-14. 11 Facts About Human Trafficking I do hope they find her body.
