BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (April 29, 2015) – The man arrested for the murder of Indiana University student Hannah Wilson had a profile on a sugar daddy website, according to Bloomington’s Herald Times. According to the paper, murder suspect Daniel Messel described himself as a “Bloomington male looking for that special IU coed.”

"We're going to try to find out as much about the individual as we can," said Capt. Joe Qualters, Bloomington Police Department. "Not all of the information has been specific to him but it certainly has been related to the Lauren Spierer investigation."

Bloomington Police say it's unclear if the two cases are in any way connected, but they agree there are striking similarities. Both involved young, female co-eds. Both young women went missing from the same part of Bloomington and both disappeared in the early morning hours of a Friday. Police say they are looking at Messel simply as part of the overall Spierer investigation, which has been ongoing since June 3rd, 2011.

This is the first time I have seen this link.. beautiful picture of Lauren and a lot of organized information.

12:30 a.m. - Witnesses report that Lauren left her apartment with a friend named David Rohn. The pair went to Jay Rosenbaum's apartment and she met up with Cory Rossman, Rosenbaum's neighbor.[15]
1:46 a.m. – Spierer is seen entering Kilroy's Sports bar.[15]
2:27 a.m. – She is seen exiting the bar with Cory Rossman. Lauren left her cell phone and shoes at the bar. She had taken off her shoes when she walked out onto the sand-covered patio. Rossman walked with Spierer to her apartment complex.[12][15]
2:30 a.m. – She is then seen entering Smallwood Plaza apartments, where her residence is located. A passerby named Zach Oakes noticed her level of inebriation and asked if she was okay. Rossman reportedly replied: “She’s OK, I got it." Oakes stated that he told Rossman to take her back to her room. Rossman cursed at Oakes, which led to an altercation in which Oakes punched him, knocking him to the floor. Rossman claimed that this blow caused him to lose his memory of the evening.[12][15][16]
2:42 a.m. – Exits apartment complex. Police reported that Spierer did not go to her fifth-floor apartment during this short visit. Surveillance video shows Spierer stumbling and Rossman helping her to her feet and walking out of the building. A few minutes later, she is witnessed by a bystander sitting down on a staircase and falling backwards, hitting her head on the concrete step. The noise of the impact was loud enough for the bystander to hear it and ask whether she was all right. According to the woman, Rossman replied, “She’s OK, I’ll take care of it.” After they continued up the street, she is witnessed falling again. Because of her intoxication level, she didn't raise her hands to cushion the blow and her face hit the ground unguarded. A few steps later, she fell a third time. At this point, Rossman began carrying Spierer.[12][15][17]
2:48 a.m. – After she left the apartments, she entered an alley that runs between College Avenue and Morton Street. Security cameras mounted on nearby apartments show her exit the alley at 2:51 a.m. and walk toward an empty lot. Spierer’s keys and purse were found along this route through the alley. Spierer and Rossman arrived at Rossman’s apartment shortly after. Michael Beth, his roommate, was at the apartment. Rossman himself was very intoxicated and stumbling. He vomited on the carpet on the way upstairs. Beth stated that he escorted Rossman to bed. He then tried to persuade Spierer to sleep over for her own safety. He claimed Spierer said she wanted to return to her own apartment.[12][15]
3:30 a.m. – Beth said he then phoned his neighbor, Rosenbaum, wanting him to take care of her. Beth said that Spierer was attempting to get Beth to drink with her at her own apartment. She eventually went to Rosenbaum’s apartment, where he observed a bruise under her eye, presumably sustained in the falls earlier in the evening. She told him she didn't know how she got the bruise. Two calls were placed from Rosenbaum’s phone shortly before she is reported to have left. Rosenbaum said Spierer placed both calls, one to Rohn and one to another male friend. Neither picked up and no messages were left.[12][15]
4:30 a.m. – Rosenbaum reports that she left the apartment. This is the last reported sighting of Lauren Spierer. He reported last seeing Spierer at the intersection of 11th Street and College Avenue, headed south on College. She was last seen wearing black leggings, a white shirt, and no shoes.[12][15][18]
Several hours later that morning, Jesse Wolff sends Lauren a text. He gets a reply back from an employee at the bar. He reports her missing.[19]

I must admit the Jill Behrman suspect sketch looks like Daniel Messel not Myers who was convicted for her murder. Daniel Messel was released from prison exactly 5 months before Jill's disappearance after only serving part of his sentence. It would be a shame if Indiana has railroaded and incarcerated the wrong man for all these years.

hey everyone, let's not forget that sketch came from a woman who a man tried to grab, completely separate from the Jill Berman case, it just happened around the time Jill disappeared.
But I agree, the man who tried to snatch that woman looks exactly like Messel.

tread carefully Roadrunner, he's the remote viewing guy and we are not allowed to discuss him, I think.
google remote viewing, the institute he works for is in Hawaii. From there you'll be able to navigate Lauren's
remote viewing session--blew me away.

The woman who originally reported this attempted kidnapping has lived out of state for a number of years and seems to be unaware of what has recently transpired. However, she will be returning to Ellettsville-Bloomington on an unrelated personal matter very soon. I hope to review her memory of the incident, and afterword show her the image comparison. If it turns out that she strongly feels she can positively ID him, contact with the proper authorities will be initiated, and this thread will be updated.

Btown, it might be better to let the authorities talk to her directly so they can take steps to ensure that her testimony stands up in court.

You have a valid point Ros. I'll see what can be arranged.

Hi all. Due to a lot going on in my personal life I was unable to keep up with the discussion in Lauren's thread over the past several months. I didn't follow Hannah's case but I am enjoying reading the discussion here now and I am glad that, if nothing else, Lauren's name is back in the media and detectives seem to be actively working on/reviewing her case.

Thanks for everyone's hard work and intelligent discussion. Prayers for Rob and Charlene, as always. I would love to see this case break wide open.

iirc, the man was driving a black pick up truck.

Authorities in Indiana are trying to determine if a link exists between the recent slaying of Indiana University student Hannah Wilson and the unsolved disappearance of Lauren Spierer, who attended the same college.

"We are pursuing it ... to determine what, if any, similarities might exist in the two cases," Bloomington Police Captain Joe Qualters told The Huffington Post.

Do we know why DM called LE in 2012? Was it a call to ISP or BPD? It would be very interesting if he called in a tip about LS.

I see these new developments have brought a lot of ppl back! Nice to see everyone still here. I really pray that this is the time that the Spierers finally get some answers!

This man could have just "lucked in" to coming across Lauren that fateful night.

Not a day goes by I don't still think of Lauren and her family. I'm so glad all of you are still on the case. I just spent the day catching up.
