On New Year's Eve in 2014, Marina Boelter was seen leaving work at the IGA grocery store where she worked in Bloomfield, Indiana around 6:00 p.m. D.J. Lockhart, Marina's former boyfriend and father of her young son, was reportedly in the parking lot of the store at the time. He told police he saw the 18-year-old being driven away from the store by an older man. Just six weeks after Marina disappeared, Lockhart himself was found stabbed to death. Indiana Police say, however, they have no evidence to suggest the two incidents are connected in any way. Marina’s family continues to search for her and posts updates on the Facebook page Find Marina Boelter.

Boelter was last seen after getting off work at the IGA grocery store in Bloomfield, Indiana at 6:00 p.m. on December 31, 2014. She got into a silver, beige or gold 2009 to 2011 Mercury Milan with multi-spoke rims, a spoiler and a shark fin antenna at the top, driven by a middle-aged Caucasian male with glasses. They drove off in the direction of Boelter's apartment.

Boelter's companion, who has not been publicly identified, said she told him she would attend his house party later that evening, but she didn't want him to know where she lived and asked to be dropped off at a closed-down pizza restaurant. She has never been heard from again. When she failed to show up for work at the IGA the next day and missed a visitation with her young son, who was in foster care, she was reported missing. Her purse, phone and keys were missing from her home, and the rest of her belongings at her residence were undisturbed.

Boelter's ex-boyfriend, Douglas "D.J." Lockhart, who was the father of her son, was stabbed to death six weeks after her disappearance. Authorities stated they have found no evidence to suggest his murder was related to Boelter's disappearance.

The man who gave her a ride the night she disappeared has prior criminal convictions for abduction and rape, and a man who lived in her apartment building had once been convicted of torturing and murdering a young girl, but no suspects have been named in Boelter's case. Her disappearance remains unsolved.

Wow! What a contrast this case is to the Delphi murders. And I believe the Indiana State Police are involved with both cases. Almost nothing out from the media here and very little from LE.

HAMILTON, Ohio - The family of an Indiana teenager who vanished more than five years ago continues to search for any sign of her whereabouts

Marina Boelter was last seen on New Year’s Eve 2014 after leaving the IGA where she worked.

“You think of a new year as a fresh start. For us, that’s not how it goes,” Ashley Boelter, Marina’s sister-in-law, told FOX19. “Thanksgiving comes, and she’s not there. Christmas comes, and she’s not there.”

Police said the then 18-year-old’s boyfriend was in the parking lot of the IGA and witnessed Boelter get into a car with another man who was supposed to take her home.

Friends and family knew something was wrong when she didn’t show up for a New Year’s Eve party she was supposed to attend.
 
Just adding in this info. The deaths of her bf and Marina were not connected. Her bf was killed in self defense 6 wks later. He was abusive and had previously broken her collarbone. When interviewed he told police he saw marina & the man leaving iga in the direction of her house. My first thought in this case was that the bf confronted her at her house. When she failed to show up to work the following day, coworkers reported her missing. Marina’s shift ended at about 6 p.m. on Dec. 31, and according to previous accounts by her then-boyfriend Douglas “DJ” Lockhart, she left the IGA parking lot, getting into a car with an unknown man.

The car was described as a metallic colored (gold, silver, or beige) Mercury Milan manufactured between 2009 and 2011 with multi spoke rims, a spoiler and a bluetooth or shark fin antenna on top. The Greene County Daily World reported that lead was exhausted years ago.

Ashley Boelter, the wife of Marina’s oldest brother, David, is Marina’s sister-in-law. Boelter says the family was never given the identity of the man who gave her a ride home, however, they were told that police did locate the driver that met the description and confirmed that he did give Marina a ride.

The man told police he dropped her off at a pizza parlor near her apartment. Boelter says she was told Marina and the man “knew each other from the grocery store.”

Reportedly, the last ping of her phone was detected near her apartment around the time she is believed to have been dropped off.

Boelter says she suspects Lockhart of being involved in Marina’s disappearance.

“David and I have never given up on the idea that DJ had something to do with it. It seems too weird that we didn’t have answers, then he died and we still don’t...he was abusive towards her. He broke her collarbone.”

Boelter says Marina and Lockhart had one child together who has since been adopted. Boelter also mentioned that Marina’s mother, Tressie Palmer, does not believe Lockhart could have been involved, and that after her disappearance, Palmer and Lockhart searched for Marina together on several occasions.

Lockhart died Feb. 12, 2015, six weeks after Marina disappeared. At that time, the Greene County Daily World reported a 22-year-old Lockhart had barged into the home of Bloomfield resident, Michael A. Rogers, who stated Lockhart confronted him over his relationship with Boelter and another female.

Police determined Rogers and Lockhart engaged in a physical altercation inside the residence. Lockhart died of a stab wound to the chest, which was determined to be inflicted by Rogers in self-defense. Reportedly, Rogers applied pressure to the wound and called 911, but Lockhart was fatally wounded.

Boelter says she has searched for clues over the years, trying to find out what happened to Marina. “There were no ATM cameras, no parking lot cameras, no nothing...I tried to log into her Facebook account, but she had deactivated it a few months before.” According to Boelter, she has been contacted with tips and rumors that never checked out. “There was a rumor that her belongings were found in a dumpster behind a local business, but it was unconfirmed...we never got that information (from investigators).” She was even scammed.

“A couple of years ago I was contacted through my page (“Find Marina Boelter”), some person said, ‘I know who has your sis. Give me money and I’ll get back to you.”

Boelter explained she contacted the FBI.

“They logged in as me on messenger and set up a meet. It ended up being a scam, I was told it was a person in Iowa.”

Boelter says the family just wants closure.

“There’s no way with how small the town is, that nobody knows what happened to her. We just want an ending, as opposed to the torment of never knowing what happened. How could nobody know? It just doesn’t make sense.” -gcdailyworld .com

Thanks! Some more detail there I did not know or heard before. I still can't get over the contrast between this and the Delphi murders of Abigail Williams and Liberty German. Indiana SP, local LE and FBI have basically taken a all hands on deck approach to those murders and we almost have nothing from ISP on Marina's case.

A private investigator in Sarsota FL has noted that nearly 20 young, petite, blonde women are missing from an area within about 250 miles from Louisville, KY. At one point he noted that in many cases, there was construction or road work being done in the area where they disappeared. Of course, that could be coincidence. Any construction or road work going on near that IGA? Maybe she got a ride from someone who had met her when he bought groceries.

Any further details on what area is 250 mi from Louisville? City/state? And what’s the source for this information- is there an article about it so I could possibly find an update? Currently searching NamUs and I’m willing to search this area as well, but would like to narrow it down. 250 mi is a large radius and could be multiple states, idk

I 100% agree. Earlier in this thread someone posted something about a crooked in cop in Bloomfield. It's will be 4 years in a couple months since the Delphi Murders and literally no progress. In why opinion the Delphi Murders need fresh eyes. Local LE has made little to no progress and it makes you wonder why.

A recent "Who Killed...." podcast had an interview with Kelsi German and Nic from "True Crime Garage". In the early part of this Sept 2020 episode, Kelsi states she has been interviewed by LE numerous times but a recent Sept interview involved all new investigators taking a new approach looking at the case from the beginning.
