Bumping
Hi there, I don't know how useful this might be, but when I came across this case through the Indiana Missing Person Bulletin, the date of last contact was listed as 09/05/1984, five years after the most widely agreed upon missing date. I don't know if it's a mistake or what, but it's worth noting for
Thank you. One question; why are there names of other missing persons on this list?24 exclusions for Melinda Creech on NamUs

Ah, I see. Thank you! These are the names of Jane Does, excluded as Creech, who were later identified.
Yes, that girl "Princess Doe" was identified as Dawn Olanick of West Babylon, New York.Did they ever determine the identity of the body found that was initially thought to be Melinda?
Definitely could be a match. But I like to put in the exact description they give us for the UPs and then check that back with missing people who were reported within the timeframe, usually within the year. Most people aren't being held for years before their bodies are dumped. Some yes, but not as common. I found these may meet the same criteria.A long shot but also bumping this case back up. What about this UID?
Date found: December 30, 1984 (est TOD 2-5 months previously. Melissa disappeared September 4, 1979) Match
Age: 16-25 (Melinda would have been 18) Match
Height: 5'3-5'7 (Melinda was 5'3) Match
Weight: Unknown (Melinda was 110) Possible Match
Hair: Blonde or Dark blonde with curls at the end (In one of the photos Melinda's hair is short and has curls at the end. Listed as blonde to light blonde) I'm going to call it a Match.
Eye Color: Unknown (Melinda's were blue) Possible Match
Do we know anything about Melinda's dentals? This UID says that they had a root canal of an upper incisor around age 8. It doesn't say anything about a previous fracture in her arm.
I live and grew up in Indiana and have lots of family in Anderson. Unfortunately, I'm not close to them but I will try sending a message to them as they all grew up and were raised in and around Anderson between the 60's and 80's and still live there and ask questions. Detroit, Michigan is only about 3 hours and 40 minutes away and then there's just the bridge and you're in Canada less than 10 minutes later. My family and I went ALOT in the late 90's and Early 2000's because we had family in Windsor which is just over the border. It was super easy to do then, I can't imagine what it was like in the late 70's. If she was running away and trying to get away from family and just start a new life, could she have gone up to Canada? I know me and my friends joked about it all the time. If the boyfriend was really in Fort Wayne at the boys school, she would have traveled through/near there.
