Definitely an odd one.

I think the friend Sandra was last seen with probably has more information that she has admitted. I don't know if I buy her "not wanting to eavesdrop on the phone conversation" story.

I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for Sandra's family to view those X-rated films looking for her. Although I find the possible Soul Train sighting somewhat interesting, and the fact that no one was apparently able to obtain a copy of the episode intriguing, I believe that it was a case of mistaken idnetity as that tip came in ten years after Sandra vanished. I really don't think she and her unborn baby lived much longer after she was last seen.

An article from 2007:

Twenty years and still waiting
Mother holds out hope for daughter who went missing in 1987.

SOUTH BEND -- Frances McCoy still hopes that one day her daughter will walk through her door, throw her arms around her and say, "Mom, I'm home."

But she realizes it may never happen.

It's been 20 years this month that Sandra Powell, then 16, was taken from her world. Why or how, McCoy doesn't know for sure.

She may never know. And with each passing year, she realizes the chances of seeing her daughter again grow more remote.

"I still think about her all the time," McCoy said.

Intriguing indeed. Reading about what the mother's gone through made me sad. Imagine watching to see if your daughter shows up in a *advertiser censored* movie, or having to look at pictures of murdered women, hoping she isn't one of them?? :frown: The friend does sound like she knows something more.....

Sandra has been missing for 28 years today.

Sandra lived at Camden Street, South Bend, IN. seems like a sleepy suburban street ina city that is rather sleepy aswell. I haven't heard alot of gang violence, homicides and urban bling in South Bend!
Google Maps

Lots of rumours here but it may be smokescreens

Sandra testified at a murder trial in 1986, one year prior to her disappearance. She had witnessed the shooting of one of her friends. A suspect was convicted in the killing and is still in prison. Sandra was threatened afterwards by an unidentified person, as were several of the other witnesses in the trial.

1. She did witness at a murder trial, the suspect was sent to jail and threating her even after the aswell as other witnesses. Was this after he was sentto jail or after the she was a witness. I wonder if this was some kind of mobster or gang member. That behaviour sounds like it unless it was empty threats ofcourse. However she already did witness and he was sent to jail, so I wonder how he could have the muscle or winnimg of killing her.

2- One of Sandra's friends thought she saw her on the television show Soul Train. Law enforcement attempted to obtain a videotape of the show, but never got one. It has never been verified whether or not the woman on the film was Sandra. Another tipster stated Sandra was an actress in adult films, and her relatives watched several pornographic films to investigate this, but never saw Sandra.

This could be easily verified. Often when people dissapears they pop upalmost everywhere in peoples minds. I believe it wasnt her.

3.Her friend stated Sandra had a phone conversation with an unknown person the night before her disappearance, but the friend did not hear what the conversation was about.

Shortly before her disappearance, the father of her unborn baby told her he was marrying someone else, which upset Sandra greatly.

The conversation is related to the father of her unborn child, and he is related to her dissapearence. Who was he? let me guess, she sais im pregnant, he said make an abortion im married, she sais no, he sais lets meet and talk and he kills her. That's what i think happened. Too many times before its the same pattern.

Here's what's so infuriating about some of these cases... A murder witness who testified in the case should never be considered a fugitive if he later turns up missing. A child witness, too. The court "killed" her by not guaranteeing her protection. This is the reason why many people refuse to cooperate with the authorities and you cannot blame them. ... Being pregnant is the time in the US when women are MOST likely to be murdered. The vast majority of the time the intimate partner and/or the father of the baby are responsible...
and thus another case impossible to solve no longer has a chance...
either way
rest in peace
