Amanda Carmack has now asked for a public defender after all.

WMTV Channel 27, Marion

Good. Maybe he/she can talk some sense into her. Actually, on second thought, AC is pretty sure she knows everything so the atty’s work will be cut out for him/her.

Edit to correct initials

I know I keep mentioning the Turpins.

On this recent episode I saw about that case, Louise Turpin’s sister outlined the ongoing sexual abuse that LT suffered at the hands of her grandfather as a child. She seems to attribute that as part of want went wrong with her sister.

It seems like everyday I log in here and there is another horrific case about child abuse and murder.

My question is, is this occurring more frequently, or are we just more aware about it now with the internet?

IMO, both. The news in Oklahoma or Oregon or Maine or Montana, etc., gets here to NC in a flash. (I don't use FB, so I don't know if the news is as frequent and immediate there, too -- I assume the news is on FB).
Before the interwebs, we simply had the 6:00am and 6:00pm local news (I'm on the east coast), and then 30 minutes later we got the national news on NBC, CBS, or ABC. Years ago, the news was not on all day on most channels, and most channels signed-off at midnight. We here in NC heard NC and national news, but not much other-state regional news unless is was "big." All the ads associated with full-time TV broadcasting went along with the TV programs. The shows on TV were much more controlled WRT foul language, sex, violence, and other "bad habits."
Maybe the abuse and deaths of children per capita has not changed in those same years, but IMO, I just think it has. Low pay compared to the cost of things; trades and most other professions call for more sophisticated knowledge; both parents (if there are two of them) working; the higher cost of insurance, health care and medication; family members -- adult siblings and their parents living hundreds of miles apart; families not involved as much in temple, church mosque, YMCA, scouting, city-sponsored activities; TV showing new clothes, toys, cars, boats, bicycles, computers and other online electronics and games etc., all day long on TV; mom or the girlfriend is pregnant again -- all this puts pressure on families which can translate to depression, frustration, resentment, and that can manifest in feelings of inadequacy and a feeling of loss of control of nearly everything. And for some, then comes the retaliation -- but perpetrated only on those who cannot block it, stop it or prevent it. And a family history of abuse contributes in some cases as well, and that can sometimes become exponential, IMO.
I'll try to see if there are stats on this kind of thing since the above is JMHO.

I call bs on this. She must be weak-minded enuff to think that all she has to do is to say, "I'm sick in the head and I don't remember a thing about it. I must be mentally ill."
Good luck, "Mom, you'll need it."
Here is some info on the Insanity Defense in Indiana --

Being fake ain't mental illness. It's very clear, from her Facebook posts, that she had problems with keeping her cool when the kids did minor stuff. The big deal she made of simple stuff the kids did is very telling.
Killing Skylea aside, the fact that the State placed her brother's kids in her care is really alarming. Those poor kids went from the frying pan to the fire. The whole situation is heartbreaking, for all of them.

I haven't followed closely after Skylea was found. Where did the kids get placed?

Yep, I'm sure LE and the DA have copies of her FB and any other social media Carmack had. Insanity is when you think your victim is a demon or you want to send them to heaven to "protect" them from the evil in this world. Even being gassed up on drugs won't help most offenders.

Being pissed off that Skylea took a bracelet ain't gonna cut it. No professional will deem her insane at the time of the murder. But better to get that out of the way now. IMO Carmack believes she will snow her way out of her confessed crime because she's smarter than anyone else. That's going to play right into the prosecutor's hands IMO.

Bah.

Praying for a lengthy sentence, hopefully without parole. This evil excuse for a human being doesn't deserve to ever get out. Her lies and excuses hopefully will not trick anyone.
The only one who will be tricked is Carmack herself.
I wonder how long it'll take her to realize she's cooked her own miserable goose.
