I know firsthand no amount of maneuvering can get a convicted felon in state prison released for funerals in SC. You can call every congressman, House Rep, director of SCDC and BEG through TEARS - does. not. happen.

She's county inmate though, charged, not convicted - don't know what the laws are there, so who knows.

But state? The post with the striken-through allowance, yes, that has been reversed for ALL state inmates.

Wait... Why would gag order pertain to this?

Exactly!

William Caison died ... Gag order prevents LE from saying anything about it.

No it doesn't. For one, His death has nothing to do with the case against TM & SM, so I suppose they are being safe, rather than sorry.

The gag order says if they want to say anything, they have to get the court's permission. :twocents:

As despicable as TM appears to be, I think she should be allowed to attend as long as she is accompanied by LE at all times. She has not been convicted yet. Another option is that the family could hold off on the memorial service until after the trial and TM can attend only if she is exonerated. After all Heather's family is still waiting for her funeral.

But how feasible would it be to them to hold off on services if the murder trial may not happen for another year?

However, IF the county/sheriff/judge allowed, she would be escorted, shackled, orange jumpsuit, no personal contact - back when they DID allow it, those were strictly enforced rules.

I was told after an inmate attempted escape on a funeral leave is when state went across the board, no more, no one.

I wonder if this insinuates, without actually saying so, is some way tied to the case? I get the gag order, but her father I would think is a whole other incident?

I doubt it. It has been reported that the coroner said he died of natural causes, and there would be no further investigation. I think they just don't want to touch the subject with a 10 ft. pole. :twocents:

I remember from past cases that an incarcerated person may be allowed to attend funerals at the discretion of the arresting agency & a judge. The family must pay for the LE escort. And I am sure state laws & jurisdictions differ & the charges are considered. Murder with no bail would be high on my list to deny the temporary release.

That's what I am thinking. (Better to not even discuss anything to do with the Moorers.) I am in no way saying it's related, just posted link and what it said. :)

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – William Caison, the father of the woman accused of kidnapping and murdering Heather Elvis, has died, confirmed Robert Edge with the Horry County Coroner's Office.

Coroner Edge would not provide any further information on the circumstances, cause, time, location, or other details of Caison's death.

Drew Peterson was allowed to say goodbye to his mother at the funeral home, before/after (can't remember which) he was sentenced (for the murder of Kathleen). I believe he only got about 5-10 minutes. For the life of me I don't understand why that was allowed. They should have told him he could go, if he told where Stacy was. Otherwise no way should he have been allowed! :gavel:

He was not allowed at the funeral itself. I believe it was the next day before the burial, he was alone with just her and the deputies that were with him.

I have a friend here in Canada he was arrested while visiting his mother in the hospital with cancer, she died 2 days later and he wasn't allowed to go her funeral and a friend went and told him the news not the jail itself but I guess his case wasn't high profile either...
Unfortunately my friend did the crime and is doing the time.... 25 - life

Hi everyone! I am a newbie

mostly I love sitting back and reading all your comments on here!

I got this crazy thinking going on in my head now that TM's dad passed. What if this becomes a blame game now? or what if the father had left a note behind admitting that he killed Heather?
I told ya it was crazy but I wouldn't put it past any of them to twist this around and I do mean...ANYONE!
Hopefully all the evidence that LE got can only be pointed in the direction this case id heading at this time.

Welcome!

I'm sure it's something that has happened before but LE has this! They have info that puts both M' s in the driver's seat so to speak. I'm sure even if TM's dad tried that it wouldn't work!
